Dark ruler doesn’t do anything against snake eyes. All of the graveyard effects that snake eyes have plus your guaranteeing a deck known to have amazing follow up another turn. If dark ruler was good it would already have been popular since snake eyes came out but no one uses it.
Most of the decks were placed correct. Had droll not made its way back cuz of the fiendsmith I would have said manndium is rogue The cat deck is still really strong. Some version of spright is gonna be a factor. Plants is also strong but not enough people play it here in the states.
I noticed that when you were talking about unchained with the fiendsmith engine, you said to run tour guide. Is tour guide better with the fiendsmith emgine than the nightmare throne/DBB package?
It's one of those decks nowadays where if you're prepared for it it's kinda mid, but if not it can be rough. Some builds are easy to interrupt while others will make recovery a pain. It does have a lot of good matchups though.
I am a swordsoul main and regularly win against most of the top decks in locals. It has insane consistency, protos is op, it can sidedeck shifter, it can play a good amount of non engine and is great going second. Nib is your biggest opp but you can play around it if you have access to the chaofeng line which is not that rare (vessel+tenyi or ashuna+adhara/vishuda). Boardbreakers can also destroy you but protos can still save you in those scenarios.
I personally think the fiendsmith engine doesn't make that much of a difference between pure yubel. Not as much as it does for snake eyes etc.yubel was already tier 1 in a tier zero format
Good sir, ice barrier and spright are NOT the same. Spright uses 2 ice barrier cards to facilitate toad. Ice barrier is like synchro toolbox with floodgates.
Plants is definitely a tier better than that just not a popular deck. Also Tenpai is not a contender to win in any way it's way too overrated if you lose against Tenpai with Snake eyes when they don't have Field spell you might just be complete ass
24:00 You just need Fiendsmith. Dimonno is ALSO a Light LEVEL 4 (very important) fiend. So alongside the Fiendsmith fusions you can also make make Chaos Angel, and remove/negate those pesky ASF and ASF copycats (Diabellze). If you don't play Fiendsmith you chimera matchup is just terrible. Other floodgates don't hurt you as hard (Puppet lock? Ez. Shifter? w/e), but ASF/Diabellze is just too annoying to play around. Still, Fiendsmith just makes it to Top 64 and that's it.
I feel Yubel itself will be tier 1 without fiendsmith, yeah the omni is cool but a lot of cards get 1 such as melodius, Yubel has 1 with Varudras as well. Yubel Super Poly Turbo would be good for a regionals/YCS as a board breaker deck.
Memento Vaalmonica is a fine rogue deck but yeah still no better than something like White Woods, Fiendsmith Chimera etc. Also I genuinely think Drytron has potential to come back and definitely get a spot in a top 64. Deck can quite consistently end on the new Alpha Draconids, Dawn Dragster and Masquerena even through handtraps... potentially more if it doesn't get interrupted. If Alpha Draconids is outed then you then get Meteonis Draconids. So that's already 2 monster effect negations + pops, 1 S/T negate and then a banish from IP with Dragster into Little Knight with potential for another removal from Meteonis Draconids... great follow-up and solid at breaking boards going 2nd. Not the craziest thing but I think good enough to squeeze into a top 64 with some good opening hands. Nu2 being a Stratos that SS itself if you control any Drytron and also being a great target for Nova really does add a suprising amount of consistency that was sorely needed.
I think he explained his reasoning about Drytron pretty well. Yes, the deck can put up crazy first turn boards, but it struggles too much going second to actually top. You say it's solid at breaking boards, but how do you actually do that? Sure, you might run breakers or handtraps, but at the end of the day the issue is that the deck's engine struggles at breaking boards. Maybe I'm wrong though
Only thing I think got missed was pure spright. I can see that making a spot in top 64. S:P, toad, red, carrot, and trap is pretty strong. Won South AMERICA
I thought you had actually tested vaalmonica, vaalmonica fiendsmith with easy access to light fiends is way stronger than many decks in "some tops" and "1 spot in top 64" tiers, the link 1 light fiend is not the only light fiend, you have access in all the lines the level 4 light fiend, besides lurrie is never going to be a brick because you can discard as you want
Even if you go for the Beatrice floodgates line you don't die if you draw blue tears since you can discard for scales and then proc it yourself. How people see a deck that can utilize the engine to its fullest as bad poopoo garbage is beyond me
Forgot the deck that just won a NAWCQ Spright Frogs (with the small ice barrier cards) Deck can 1 card combo off and can run 15 hand traps. Think it deserves at least playable with some tops. It sets up so many negates going first FS Snake eye doesnt even have enough starters to get thru that many negates. Game 2-3 is were you need to know the meta and how to side vs it. If you win the die roll the deck can play thru 3 interruptions easily. It won the Oceanic NAWCQ which isnt huge but its still a NAWCQ and ppl sleeping on the deck like Pak is or maybe he actually just forgot to add, will lose to the deck if they run into it in top cut, Its nornal sprights but swap frog is now an insane 1 card full combo. He does mention spright ice barrier, i call it spright frogs. Still think deck is slept on it just took down a NAWCQ, swap frog is as broken as hes ever been..
NA stands for North America. Oceanic is not in NA. Snake eyes won in Oceanic(Australia/NZ). Im sure you’re referring to South America where spright won. This is impressive. However, South America i believe is not a place where people will choose to pay for an expensive deck like snake eyes. Not to take away anything from the player. Spright is good.
Fiendsmith lightsworn is being slept on imo. Yes it loses to shifter, but that's the same for most decks that arent tenpai/SE - Plays around droll (becoming popular thanks to yubel pile) - Easy access to/synergy with engines like bystials that are both engine and non-engine - Room for unique tech for specific matchups (e.g. rise for tenpai) - Plays fairly well into D-barrier - Can make dweller The main issue with the deck (outside of shifter) is that its a hard deck to pilot. It can do so much, but all those options require good knowledge/skillset to master.

The deck was always good without it. Such a question means you only focus on puppet. A good branded player doesn't play it to just puppet. You play puppet when you can't stop follow up. Puppet is not the deck. It's the last plan of action. Branded can do fine without it. Puppet won't get hit. Sanctifire unfortunately will get hit because of brainless people just puppet locking all the time.

Unlucky we’ve to admit that the deck is old and yu gi oh is evolving. A deck to be strong needs little engine (10-12 cards max) and a lot non engine, branded is still a deck with a lot of engine (a real good engine no doubt about that), and strong decks are more and more fast and resilient like snake eye, fiendsmith engine will give this resistance, branded for now is good. We can improve a list for new format, but we needs some boost to compete for the future in my opinion
