Tekken 8 isn't korean's play style. It's too offensive even pro's are having a hard time fighting anyone. Even Arslan doesn't like tekken 8 but he's forced to play because of sponsorship.
Considering his age he probably is past his prime. Nonetheless, if you look on Liquipedia Knee has won 10 Tier 1 tournaments since 2019 when Arslan emerged. In the same period Arslan has won 11 Tier 1 tournaments. So Knee is still hanging at a level only Arslan can match. Nobody else comes close to them over that period. I think Atif is probably next wiith 5 tier 1 wins. Arslan is winning more EVO's and of course the TWT so maybe he's making it count at more crucial times (or maybe he's just been lucky...?). Knee's best year in the modern tournament environment was 2018 when he won 6 Tier 1 tournaments -more than most top players win in their entire careers. Historically EVO wasn't visited by the top Korean and Japanese players very often before 2015 so it wasn't the highest level of competition before that -the stuff that counted were the tournaments in Korea and Japan which is where you'd see the best players. When Knee won it in 2013 none of the other top players were there and when JDCR won it in 2014 only Ao was there of the other big names. Also, bear in mind that Tekken itself has changed from what it was when Knee was in his heyday. Tekken 5, 6 and Tag were far more movement dominated that T7 or 8 and that is something Knee excels at. So Knee is still performing amazingly well even in games that have moved away from his greatest strengths.
He's been playing and competing in the franchise on the highest level more than new gen pros lived, yet he still competes among the finest. At this point it matters not whether he is past his prime or not, he is the most wanted among the tekken players to play against.
"is knee past his prime?" - how about this? who cares. i dont remember diago winning anything anytime soon but no one talks about that. how about root for people instead of creating content with a negative connotation.
Interesting points. Even if he is past his prime the man will always be a legend.
True, he will always be known as the god of TEKKEN
Interesting take. I hope all the best for him, but no one can stay on top forever.
Did knee took an arrow?
I want to see how he plays in this years evo, to see if he is still at that top level he once was, which i am hopeful to be the case.
Yeh same, Knee will always be the god of TEKKEN in my mind
nothing better than rewatching Aris commentary on Knee vs Rickstah
