Do they have it in stock
I know a lot of people, especially long time trekkies, are hating on the new series but honestly I love it. And I also think the Crossfield-class is one of the best looking ships to come out of the canon.
I'm just happy to build kits, and enjoy Trek stuff.
The haters, well, they'll always find something, anything, to complain about.
I've just built this one and it's made me appreciate the design of the ship even more, I think it is great.
Thanks for watching!
She came out great Chris, thanks for your time and hard work posting it's greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the guidance. I’ll be needing to take a look at your Enterprise build to get more insight on decal application. This is my first model build in 40 YEARS!!
Thanks, and enjoy!
There is a major design problem in this kit
Because everybody knows that Discovery never has closed shuttle bay doors 🤣
LOL
I would like kit manufacturers to come out with a kit of The Orville star ship from Seth Macfarlane's The Orville.
Now that would be cool!.
Oh man, you hit the nail on the head with that!
Would LOVE to see a nice 12-18 inch Orville kit, Krill ship, etc in the same scales and then an Orville shuttle in 1/32nd scale.
@@hpiguy Thanks man! Really appreciate it!.If kit manufacturers really follow through with a kit of the Orville, modelers who are fans of this new TV series, will be asking the kit manufacturers to start making kits in 1/8 or
1/12 scale of the characters as well.
Fantastic Plastic released a reasonably large-scale Orville model and promptly got a C&D from Fox.
@@hpiguy Someone has made 3d prints of it when assembled is 16 inches long.
Found the Orville Kit. It is in production now and is 15 inches long when assembled.

Love the look of the discovery. It has become one of my favorite designs
Thanks Nikola!
Fantastic. I hope they release more classes like the Shenzou
Thanks Ian!
The Discovery is such a gorgeous ship! Top job there fella!
Thank you Adam!
Brother man that is one amazing build, but to be honest I don't think I would have the patients to use all of those decals. Keep up the great work and have a great day.
Thanks Chopper!
Can you imagine just a few years ago if you wanted that aztec detail that we get so fast with decals now, you had to crack out the pearl paints and thin them crazy see thru thin and then mask, spray, mask, spray hundreds and hundreds of 5mmx2mm squares? Oy vey!
Thanks to Round 2/Polar Lights for the awesome preview. Great job on the paint application. Makes it look not so "brand" new. Love Trek but not a fan of the show. Your decal application was spot on as was your subtle paint application to the nacelles. Watching your channel is a form of therapy!
Thanks again Stuart!
Chris, I hope I am not overloading you with comments, I just really enjoy your channel!
No worries man!
not something I would build but I enjoyed watching what you did and how the model came out, very good build
Thanks for watching Craig!
So. Many. Decals. Referring to your previous post. I knew you could do it. And you did it well. Very well. Total thumbs up.

Thanks a lot Dave!
I like the ambient electronica paint barn music. And the video is also good ;-)
Thanks Brian!
Thank You Sir for the paint tips n tricks, Beautiful Overall Effect. God Bless All
Thanks a lot Gary!
At first i thought the bronze color that you used was going to be to dark but after decaling it looks awesome👍
Thanks Harris!
So true it is sealed with the aft shield.
The show is a bit average, but I still watch it haha. Love the look of the Discovery, it’s got a sweet low profile. Looks good mate 🍻
Thank you Dale!
I was thinking about getting this kit you helped me make my mind up i will be getting this kit thanks my friend.
Excellent, thanks John!
I would love to see all the Star Trek ship's you've built side by side in a vid.
Thanks, this is really helpful as I get ready to start on mine! She looks great.
Thanks Lars!
Fantastic job Chris. Not a fan of the show, but you don't have to be one to build the kit. GREAT color scheme and the bright blue does look lit in your pics at the end. Awesome bud. Build on Brother.....
Thanks a lot BillyBob!
Marbling paint! Cool job. Never built a space ship.
Glad the experiment worked, thanks for watching!
Looks great, need this and the Discovery Enterprise in 1/350.
Thanks Neil!
very cool tip on the blue paint nice build
Thanks Eddie!
Nice build and review of the Discovery Chris, well done!...Bill
Thanks Bill!
Man that's awesome!. Always been a Trekkie fan!
Thanks Joshua!
Good job on your ST:D kit.
Thank you!
Don't get me wrong, I fruggin HATE ST:D but I've been a model builder since the 1970s and I can say with authority that you do good work.
I'm just getting back into modeling after a long hiatus and yours is the second one I've seen on the Discovery. I'm starting to get my supplies together, but the one item I'm having a hard time finding is magnet wire in more than one color and magnet wire is what is needed for small areas. Where do you get yours?
Let’s hope the quality control improves.... really, one of the first reviews on this kit and you get a defective one🙁
I'm just that unlucky of a guy that if there is one short shot in 50,000, I'm gonna get it.
I filled it with putty and moved along. It's part of model making.
Very Well Done! I’m Impressed!
I’ve never seen the show and had always up until now thought that the USS Discovery Was Ugly In the Extreme But Then I’m having USS Excelsior And Enterprise-D Flashbacks when I weren’t too keen on those Designs Either?! I guess that when you have a Model or see one presented in its various aspects then you begin to appreciate the design methodology in its construction cohesively rather than picking out parts that seem anomalous or incongruous. When I was a Child I thought that the Excelsior was bloated and ungainly and the D was Strangely Amorphous. It was only through watching ST III and ST TNG an inordinate amount of times and then having the Fasa Excelsior Miniature And then Ertl’s Enterprise-D That I began to appreciate Form as well as function albeit in a Science Fiction Context. I think that I might be second guessing myself with regards to Discovery? I’m still adamant that thank God this Design did not end up as Our Beloved Refit. I think what is inevitably attracting me is that she will forever have the Hand Of Ralph McQuarrie In Her Design- And I Admire Him And Love His Work! Will I buy the Kit? For a reasonable price I just might!
You’ve Inspired Me!
Best
Thanks for watching! Enjoy!
Cool build thanks for sharing.
Thanks Charles!
I can’t wait to get mine. I’m definitely going to light it up.
Excellent! Enjoy your model!
Really looks good - thanks again.
Thank you Mary!
I really like how this turned out, this will be my first model build and I would like to make mine as close to this as possible. I was wondering if I could get a complete list of the paints, and their brand names, ect.? Thank you!
The paints are listed by brand and color on screen in the painting section...
Helps to watch all of the video my friend. Thanks and enjoy!
Nice job my friend!
Thanks Jonathan!
Looks Great
Thanks!
Cool build! I've never seen the show, but that split saucer section seems pretty inefficient for a spacecraft design. Lots of wasted space.
It was a part of the ships experimental propulsion, that being said I;m not a fan of the ship.
Thanks for watching Jim!
I'm not a fan myself, but it does double the amount of walls you can have windows on... not that there is much to look at in space.
Wouldn't the clear bits be better if just painted on the back?
Shame that model is so small, I was looking for a large one, but unfortunetely no one made it. My U.S.S. Voyager from Revell is 50cm long!
What would be a good substitute for the Metallic rust, I cannot find it in any stores in Canada?
Looks good!
Thanks Red!
Nice job, did you fix the missing bit on the saucer, I didn't notice?
Nice build there well done, it looks like a paper model! maybe its the lighting causing it to look flat and i don't mean the ships profile, the Aztec panels don't stand out.
I have yet to try doing all that aztecing on my Reliant kit.
If the decals are as nice as all the new releases you won't have any issues.
@@hpiguy Decals are one of my favorite parts of building a kit. I would just need the free time to sit down and do it after I build the kit.
Not a fan of the show, but it looks like a quality kit. Thanks for the preview.
Thanks for watching Phil!
nice job
Thanks Wade!
Just wondering- you're calling the Testors paint Bronze, but the only Bronze spray paint I can find from them is Lacquer. Are you sure the paint you're using is not actually Copper? Their website only shows Copper and Gold in the Enamels and the can of Copper I have sure looks a lot like yours.
I probably made a mistake, if it looks like the stuff you have then I'd bet it is the same.
Very cool
Thanks!
I didn't realise Discovery was that colour
It's not lol. I have this kit. This guy took the easy way out and just sprayed the whole thing copper for some reason. It has copper highlights but I used gun metal grey for the majority of the body. I mean I guess it looks.. ok.. but it's not correct.
I hate the show, but the design of the ship isn't too bad (apart from the spinning, urgh) I'd fill in the saucer, shorten the nacelles and probably try painting it in a more TOS style paint scheme, but thats just me.
nice 👍. have you ever build star wars
Yup, I've got a dozen or so kit reviews of SW ships on here.
Well done, but that would drive me mad!!
Thanks, it's not bad at all, the decals release quickly and you can get a lot done once you get a rhythm going.
Love your work but I wouldn't give the time of day to do a model for the abomination called Star trek discovery
LOL, thanks for watching though!
@@AvengerII SPOILERS AHEAD. Don't read if you care!
Perhaps the writers did this on purpose knowing that it will be lost in the future. This was an experimental ship after all with the spore drive and everything. It's safe to say the design could also be an experimental one. One that was never to be duplicated again because of all the secrets it held and took to the future.
👍😁
Thanks!
why does the design remind me of a abandoned star trek space ship?
I don't like this thing that CBS is shoveling down our throat that they say is Star Trek, but is not. I don't like the ship's saucer ('cuz of the opening) , but the rest isn't that bad. Again, your work is flawless. I can't even see where you fixed the half molded part. You're really good.
Thanks for watching the build and the nice words about it!
STD is not real Star Trek, no matter how much cbsaa tries to convince us otherwise. The ship designs, set designs, costume designs, writing and acting are all atrocious, a slap in the face to the memory of Gene Roddenberry and fans of true Star Trek.
They have listened with season 2, bringing in a lot of the looks of TOS. They have done it slowly so it doesn't feel so much like they F'ed up with the look of the show. Still not a fan of the ship design though.
Uh, I tried to get into Discovery. The ship reminds me so much of a Klingon ship. Just a old school guy I guess.
Great job on the model but...
Not my Star Trek!
Thanks for the nice words! The show isn't for everyone but the model looks cool.
Not happy about the kit being short-shot. You are a lot more forgiving of poor quality control than I would be.
I could either go off about it which would solve nothing or just spend 30 minutes fixing it and be on my way.
But I did want to make sure that the viewers saw it, I don't want to be accused of hiding a flaw.
If it was window glass or something that could not be patched I'd have to request a replacement part and wait.
This kit will become a collectors item. The show is tanking and nowhere near as popular as most Star Trek properties. Highly unlikely they will repop this kit anytime after the first batch and the show goes off the air.
Great job, to bad it's a fugly ship.
Thanks for the nice word on the build though!
