How Flight Controls Work | Part 8 : Yaw Control

  • Note: All values related to rudder deflection shown in this video are the maximum available rudder deflection for that particular software function of the flight computer and are not an accurate representation of the real flight situation.
    To facilitate understanding and visualization, I have used exaggerated animation and maximum values.
    As this video is meant to provide overall knowledge of the yaw control features, all topics have been addressed briefly and not in-depth.
    Aircraft systems explained.
    * Primary flight control system.
    * Rudder trim system
    * Manual and Autopilot rudder control.
    Major components covered.
    * Primary flight computer and software's (Rudder ratio, Yaw damper, Gust suppression, Modal suppression, and Thrust asymmetry compensation)
    * Actuator control electronics, Air data inertial reference unit, Autopilot computer and Engine data interface unit.
    * Vertical stabilizer, rudder, rudder pedal, pressure transducers and accelerometers.
    Software's used for making the video.
    * Blender 3.0 and Filmora 10.

    Excellent presentation. The quality of the video associated with the explanation of the system makes the understanding much easier even for 777 pilots, since the images in the manual do not have such detailed graphic resources. Spectacular work.

    On those aircraft accident documentaries on more than a few times the rudder ratio alarm would pop up when the airspeed indicator was malfunctioning. Would scare the 💩 out of me, this be video is great, explains it!
