I'm not so sure of the psychological effects of nostalgia. One day I'll be dead and my comment will still be here, and I watched AVGN before youtube even existed. Played Mario, loved it. It wasn't about speed running. It was it's own exploration, I do remember being the child then the feelings I got playing the game, pausing the game when I had gotten to a high level and had to go somewhere. I can't explain it all in this highly stimulating tictok world we live in but it felt really great then. I'm not certain I'll ever feel such emotions again in my life. Adulthood, or just too much internet, whatever the reason, I guess that is just what it is.

Super Mario Bros. 3 has always been amazing in The 1980s (surely it counts since Mario 3 was originally conceived and then created on the 80s on the Famicom), 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and future decades. Always be grateful you are never alone on this. Super Mario games released before the N64 era held up SO MUCH BETTER than the The Software Toolworks Mario games, along with its own cartoon spinoff for more reasons than Kootie Pie.

Just wanted to come back and say that The Wizard is what got me into classic video games-my dad showed me the movie when I was 10 years old and ever since then I was fascinated by this whole generation of gaming I missed out on. Him and I just watched it again not too long ago, and watching it again as an adult was very nostalgic for me (and apparently it’s a fun movie to watch while stoned LOL). My dad grew up out west where the movie was filmed/takes place, and he told me that he actually had a childhood “girlfriend” who was cast as an extra in the film, but unfortunately had all her scenes omitted from the final release. Though I am young, I personally think that old video games just hit different……….
