I love the monster mining truck mod. I use it to connect multiple mines to common rail exchanges. What Transport Fever really needs IMO is an electrical mod (or ideally as a core game mechanic from the developer). Industry should require electricity to upgrade to level 2 which would require building a grid with long distance transmission and local distribution lines, and generation stations. In my imagination you'd have coal, gas and wind. Coal gets you a lot of power, but consumes tons of coal (inefficient) and creates high emissions (which reduces growth). Wind is convenient but does not provide easy scale and is very very expensive to build out enough to power an entire map. Gas is significantly more efficient and does not create a lot of emission but requires a more complicated production line. Cities need power to grow. The more I play Transport Fever the more I want it to evolve into more of a economic simulator or 'state-sim' essentially where infrastructure creates GDP growth that allows for the building of services which leads to population growth which drives demand. But an electrical mod would be the first step in that direction imo. Generation Stations > Transmission Lines > Distribution Step Down > Distribution Lines (limited range once stepped down) > end user (industry or town).
Finjet specification is actually pretty close on par with the real one. It was built 1977, take 1800 passangers (and 380 cars), it have a top speed of 31 knots... of cause the game have about 1/4 capacity of all vehicle compare to the real one. So it really should have 450 person capacity to mach up with everything else.

A small bug fix for this is coming, apparently. As mentioned, it is because, with every litte change, all the possible routes for all existing lines are recalculated. This is especially felt with ship lines as they are not confined to existing roads and rails (thus, many more possible routes). So, for the time being, cut down on ship lines first and foremost and you will see an improvement. SkyeStorme made a video about it, recently.

The main difference between the PBA- and PBKA-Thalys is de regions they can be used. The PBA is only usable at the Amsterdam - Brussels - Paris link, the PBKA can also be used to and from Germany (the K stand for Köln (or Cologne)). The PBA is pretty simular to the classic TGV-trains of France but has additional Belgium and Dutch trainsystems on board. The PBKA also has German (and some trains also Swiss) systems. And as you mentioned, the PBKA sets do have the modern engine car. The differences in livery is because of the livery changed through the years ;-)
About the Avenio T - the best feature imo: go into the drive mode and look at the station display - they show the upcoming 3 stations which was really surprising. About the Thalys - way too little capacity, so I never got to use them :( definately gotta dive into the specs a little about the rest: nothing really special, I'm still missing the subway-station mod from #1 and some future techonoly mods :) also, why blew my mind was the cargo tram mod. such a game changer, wow =)

FYI thalys has 2 versions Paris-Brussels-Amsterdam (PBA) and Paris-Brussels-Amsterdam-Köln (PBKA). This is to do because the German network runs on another voltage. And the reason because there is no double dekkers thalys trains is because the road bridges above the tracks in Belgium are too low, and it would be a too big investment to level all those bridges for the ROI it could bring.
