    A little tip for saving money especially at the start of the game:
    Don't build rails directly from one station to another. The game builds as straight as possible ignoring terrain. If you build in small segments you can save a lot money and buy extra few vehicles.
    Remember that the rail will have more slopes (making it a bit slower), so when you have lot of money, you can rework it for maximum efficency.

    • @joshuadoll9000

      I think your issue may be that you aren't assigning a line to use the new terminal/platform. If you select the station and go to terminals you can see exactly which terminal each line is using and move them to different ones.

    Maybe also important: On a truck stop (or cargo dock) you'll not only lose products if you're running out of space, but also if stuff sits there for too long. That's not only happening for perishable freight (like food), but for anything (including tools, machines, whatever). Most likely the game emulates theft, which is an issue in real life logistics, too. So make sure your stuff gets picked up in time - which is what you get paid for anyway.
    Ah, and thanks, Stealth, I'm enjoying the series. :-)

  • @camdentrain

    Your demand explanation is correct for the most part. All industries *will* have there base demand, even without a final consumer. A farm will ship its full output to a food factory, even if that food factory is not connected to an end consumer. However, only having base demand means a factory will not upgrade. So a food factory will accept the entire production of one farm without an end consumer, but only that one farm. You will have to then connect it to a town, or in the case of longer chains, the later factories, in order to use its full capacity. This means that a good way to make early profits is to complete as many one step lines (EX: forest -> Lumbermill, Farm -> Food Plant, Coal -> Steel Mill, etc).

  • @lodiped
    @lodiped 4 года назад +13

    Actually you can make quite a lot of money early on from only shipping stuff to a factory. If you set a lot of trucks and almost max out the rate in all of the opportunities to do this around the map, you'll rise very very quickly. You don't need to complete the production line to get a good amount of money. In fact, if I look at my stats, the lines that deliver cargo to factories without delivering the products to towns are really high up in the earnings list.

    • @whiskizyo2067
      @whiskizyo2067 4 года назад +2

      Exactly. Lines don't need a place to transport to oddly - that bread doesn't need to go anywhere because you're paid for delivering things from one factory to another and the finished product deteriorates, so it keeps being transported, you keep getting paid and the product keeps despawning to make room for more input. Because of that the game is dead easy and it's all about single, close chains with high production - think of the logging camps producing (up to) 400 logs and a sawmill producing 200 planks at the perfect 2:1 ratio. Connect all of these 2 that are close together with a 300 "rate" or saturation, via trucks (as best saturation as you can get without trains) and that's a 100k profit line in and of itself from the start - more later when you can upgrade the transports by a little and reach maximum 400 saturation/input. Then go to the next basic 400:200 that are close and connect those up, then, do the same for the next step of that process (planks to tools?) with places that are close and so on. Make a ton of money then branch out into trains opening up much more distance and so options and that's basically it. Even on Hard. Growing towns with final products is funnily enough just a side thing.

    You do know that you can set, in line settings, the vehicle to wait, instead of doing it manually?
    The wait is one of the greatest feature, with ships it even reduces ship maintenance to have it wait in port. You don't really want more vehicles than can be filled as they arrive anyway, so always use wait until full, to easily see that you have enough vehicles at a route.

    The food route line can be simplified quite a bit with an ABABC line (farm, food, farm, food, delivery to city), which only really works with trucking. The doubled AB-AB line covers the 2:1 consumption ratio of the food plant, followed by a delivery run. It doesn't work with trains (particularly early trains), because raw and processed foods require different cars, which kills line efficiency.

    The indicator 'rate' tells the quantity you transport with a given line. This can be a good indicator. If you see your trucks have a rate of 260 on the grain-line, that means that adding a third truck will give you 390... in theory you need 400 to deal with the grain… but ideally you need a bit of extra, to cover for the fact that sometimes your trucks will need to wait for the food delivery trucks, and not all trucks are full if the space between them is not ideal.
    Your depot - in theory - needs to be just big enough for one truckload, plus some extra since the spacing of the trucks is not always the same… here I would say: take two truckloads...
    You can also add a second entry to a depot, with a bit of experimenting you can set up two trucklines that don't cross and still use the same depot …

    • @dragster9133
      @dragster9133 4 года назад +1

      Ye Tian Yöur vehicles are enough if there are no things to pick up. Then it should be 100%. If there’s always a little bit missing it will not be 100%. Check the method your transporting with and the frequency you‘re transferring the items.

    • @joshuadoll9000
      @joshuadoll9000 4 года назад +5

      Transport is actually what refers to your vehicles having enough capacity to ship everything that is produced. As long as that's at 100% then you have enough vehicles. Shipment refers to how much is actually being demanded by the towns for that industry. Because your shipment number is low you need to connect more towns or get better coverage in the towns you are shipping to in order to increase your shipping number.

    Great tutorial but I have few comments. Shipment in the resource window is the amount of demand for its product. Also the setup of stations in this video is okay if you have a few vehicle but if you increase your vehicles, I recommend having a separate station for drop off if that is all that line is doing.

    The fact that the devs use 'supply' when they mean 'demand' says everything about this game.

    • @SineN0mine3
      @SineN0mine3 2 года назад +2

      It depends on your perspective, are you reading information presented by the towns themselves, or information your company has collected? The "supply" score just measures how many of whichever resource is delivered. Demand is implied by the fact that they have a supply of less than 100%
      If you called the stat demand, the player would be aiming to reduce the score to zero, which is counter intuitive from a players perspective. Usually in video games, even simulation/tycoon games, you're trying to maximise your scores, not get them to zero.

    But I think you are wrong with the demand.
    You can make money, especially early game, with just transporting ie crops to a Bakery.

    Great video, but I am missing a word about the „rate“ value of the lines. I build on the principle that the transporting lines should have a rate that matches the demand (i.e. in final consequence the supply value of the town I ship to), obviously adjusted if you have 2:1 ratios along the chain. It seems to work, however I never found a confirmation that supply and rate refer to the same time interval (units per year?). And there always seem to be losses, so it seems that the rates must increase slightly the more steps you are away from the cargo sink (a.k.a. town).

    Question How much difference is there between Time and distance for income. if you can do 2 delivery's in the same amount of time to 1 delivery twice as far would they pay out be the same or is it better to do more shorter distance delivery's or 1 longer one (take into effect full loads). i ask this because because i keep hearing its about distance travelled, but wouldn't it be more economical to place the drop of points closer to each other, doing more shorter delivery's .

    Is it me or does a Line now only work when it goes from A to B? Because in in the last instalment I had some (cargo) lines going from A to B to C. But everytime I try that in 2 it works for 30 minutes en then just stops...
    Anyone got tips?
    Edit: I forgot to add that I only have this problem with food lines. Specifically boats and trucks. The exact problem seems to be that the company at location B will produce, but won't export the product to my boats/trucks.

    I usually have a problem with the "shipment" line in farms, ore/iron mine, etc. They may have trucks picking up everything every second. I feel that the "shipment" Is about how fast they send things to the truck platform. Do you know what i am missing?

    • @vindicit8924

      Shipment is based on the demand by the towns. A factory can get to level 4 and they need 2 towns worth of demand to do that typically.

  • @PaddyW_
    @PaddyW_ 4 года назад

    Could you establish the last line you mentioned? I got trouble with a food factory supplying two towns at once. The nearest town gets 40% of the production with 100% transported and the other town gets 60% with only 70% being transported. Stuff is just lying there and Eventually despawning while the other city is running dry

      I'm not sure how the game calculates what to send where. I've seen the same thing and I haven't been able to pinpoint what causes it or how to fix it.

    i have been watching this video for 3 times but didn't understand how to makes the shipments of main resource grow up

    • @Stealth17Gaming

      This might have to do with the factory that you are supplying not having enough demand.
      Let's say you do: Grain -> Food processing
      If the food processing plant doesn't have enough demand it might not demand that much grain, so your farm won't produce more.

    Hi! For some reason, when I put a station near a fabric (e.g. steel) sometimes it doesn´t send goods by train (when you click on the station the factory becomes white, so it should work). Do you now why? Other times, it start sending but after a while (for instance, if it runs out of something for a while) it stops sending goods (sending counter: 0). Any idea? Thanks!

    • @SineN0mine3
      @SineN0mine3 2 года назад +1

      Probably a bit late to be helpful, but there are tiny "pedestrian" connections between the station and either the road network or the factory itself. Usually your station has to be basically touching to make the connection. You need to zoom in to see the actual connections, but they will appear as little footpaths connecting to the station entrance.
      If you've already placed the station and the factory is outside its collection area, you can make the connection by drawing a road to the entrance and connecting it to the edge of the factory or the road which it is on. If its close enough, and you can get the footpaths to appear on the road you built it should work now.
      Maybe if somebody else is having this problem they'll see this
