Fun fact, the director didn't yell "cut" right away and Jet just jumped into action so everyone's expressions, including the look of fear on the dude's face as he pulls him across the table... it's all real lol

I will still never forget when I saw the interview with the director who said he didn't speed up the cameras on this fight. The the reason it looks like it is jumpy in certain places is because Jet was moving so fast that the camera couldn't keep up with him!
Apart from his speed, Jet Li usually made his hitting moves look quite real. Donnie Yen is still a bit sour over how Jet Li surpassed him in his heydays and Yen's time as an iconic Chinese martial art lead came after Li and Chan got too old to make movies, but nobody from Hong Kong looked as real as him, even though he's the shortest, least sized one of the entire lineage of Hong Kong action cinema.
He always looks like he really commits his punches. Which is one of the big reasons why his action sequences look more believable than the rest.

Well choreographed fight scenes, hard AF music and cock diesel bad ass strutting in is the the cherry on top. Love it! Jet Li Prime, not including period piece epics.
I like Fist of Legend for similar reasons that I like this movie. They used Fist of Legend as inspiration for how they wanted to shoot this film actually, in terms of the fight scenes

This film was supposedly Li’s response to the wire-work criticism in Romeo Must Die.
The only scene they used wires in this one was Raffaelli’s spinning 1 1/4 kick. Not cuz he couldn’t do one cold, but cuz when he did he moved too fast for the camera. In fact they had to move slower for the whole fight for the same reason.
This was prime Jet Li, and I was so happy to see them not waste Cyril like they did in a certain film with an English bloke that I shall not name…

Finally someone that understands. People don't realize the training and conditioning this man went through. My husband is from Beijing and went to the same Sports school as 李连杰。It's no joke.
Him being in movies was just to show his martial arts to a bigger audience.
A lot of people complain that he never competed in a fight or this or that, but Bruce Lee didn't either, and competition fights have many rules. Bruce was great, their styles are just different.
Any true martial artist, like Jet, will tell you, it's not about kicking someone's ass, and that is the problem with American critics, mainly men who have no idea what they are talking about.

"Lap Dance" is a great song, but was overused in movie soundtracks. This scene, "Daredevil", "Swordfish" just to mention some.
Even though he might not do so well in the Octagon, since that is a complete fighting sport, Jet Lee is one of the few old school true martial artist turned actor, which is why the fight scenes look so good, although of course, not very realistic for those that know. A takedown is all that would be needed to stop Jet Lee, but as viewers we don't want to see that of course.
