It's old unfortunately. Customer service for the game insists that new content is being worked on but there hasn't been any new content in over a year and they stopped giving us news updates in the game itself.

A little confused by the land tile. I have all available land in the game and assumed it was a free land token but now I'm confused LOL.

It's a sand tile to create a sand or I guess desert as that is the theme of this update. :)

It heavily borrows from it. A lot of things from the show are always referenced in quests every update. For example you will know certain characters that did certain things in a specific episode and they piggyback off it in a questline. lol
