    - Leon's Campaign: playing as Leon
    - New Game: fresh new game
    - No Hope: highest difficulty in the game (no skills can be used)
    - No Restarts: the whole game is done in one go without any checkpoints/saved states
    - No Permanent Damage: no health block will be lost in the run. The "no damage" medal may or may not be obtained as I am allowed to take some light damage as long as I recover from that damage naturally without healing.
    - S Rank in all chapters
    - Offline: solo played with AI companion.
    - PC version (60 FPS) played with controller.

    "La campana, hay que obedecerla..." (1:03:27)
    The run was done in a livestream.
    I had to pause the game at 0:21:50 to adjust the mixing of game audio as pointed by viewers. The audio cuts off for a few seconds while I pause and switch to OBS to adjust volume (it's something that happens in older games like RE5 and RE6 where the audio only plays out when the game's tab is focused) - sorry about that.
    Not much to say except that I was not expecting to get a completion this early, it was meant to be a full run practice session which is why the run is sloppy at many sections.
    I decided to not use the weapon swap trick that allows you to spam several shots quickly. It makes the gameplay more natural.
    I would like to give a shout-out to this channel - www.youtube.com/@RushRun . I borrowed a few ideas and strategies from them in both this game and Revelations 2.
    Bosses/Minibosses:
    - First Whopper (0:48:37)
    - Lepotitsa - Cathedral (1:11:42)
    - Deborah (1:32:41)
    - Brzak (2:09:34)
    - Lepotitsa - Plane (2:11:12)
    - Ustanak (2:18:09)
    - Simmons 1 - Train (2:37:19)
    - Simmons 2 - T-Rex (2:56:27)
    - Simmons 3 - Quad Tower (3:06:31)
    - Simmons 4 - Quad Tower Rooftop (3:15:33)
    My favorite encounters in this campaign:
    - Gun shop (0:41:48)
    - Cemetery (0:55:28)
    - Cathedral door (1:03:04)

    Finally! Resi6 may be the most criticized game in the series, but no other entry even comes close to it in terms of combat: it is deep, lets you be creative and rewards you handsomely for improving your skills. Beating it without taking hits is something even most of the veterans won't probably try to do, even if we're talking about Leon's campaign, where there aren't so many cheap situations which can quickly ruin your challenge run. Nice work!

      Sheeple get carried away and bash this and RE5 because it's "cool to do so" and not "survival horror" but these are hands down some of the most fun I've had with games. I in particular appreciated the counter system in this game. It was very rewarding getting those split second counters. They would have fit in well with RE4R.

    • @dkirby9052
      @dkirby9052 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@-castradomis-1773 I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't bash RE6 because it is "cool to do so" or because it is not "survival horror". I bash the game because is it quite frankly, horrendous on every level. Let's start:
      This is the most hollywood a RE game has ever been. 4 started the shift to being more action focused and 6 was just the inevitable conclusion. Explosions everywhere, motorcycles jumping over helicopters, fist fighting a giant monster over lava, fighter jets, they ripped off that scene from Armageddon in the Chris campaign. It feels like an 80s action movie.
      QTEs for days. QTEs everywhere. I hate them. I don't think they add anything to games other than pain in you hands. Rather than just watching a cut scene I am more focused on pressing buttons at the right time or I am going to have to do it all over again. RE6 even manages to screw that up too because often, you can do a QTE perfectly and the game will randomly fail you for no reason. But this is such a 2000s trend and this game was all over it.
      Speaking of QTEs there is an option in the settings that allow you to "auto-complete" QTEs. Problem is, this does not apply to all QTE segments and you have no idea which ones. Because the game does not explain this to you.
      Then there is how this game is obsessed with Ada. The events of this whole game boil down to one guy who was creepily fixated on Ada Wong. Simmons got Carla to undergo a procedure to look like Ada, she snapped and now wants to infect the world to get back at Simmons. Simmons is even growing clones of Ada.
      So Jake doesn't like his dad, who is Wesker by the way, but he also is ready to kill Chris for killing his dad? Earlier Jake was going on about how evil Wesker was, shouldn't he be more understanding that Chris just did what needed to be done?
      So Helena, for the early game continues to insist that they need to get to the cathedral. There is something Leon NEEDS to see or he just wouldn't believe her. Leon is the guy that survived Raccoon City, I think if there is anyone who is willing to believe it is him. It would have just been so much easier if she had just told Leon what was up from the beginning. But this point was just dragged out for the sake of suspense and drama. There was no reason to drag it out as long as they did.
      The hud is absolutely unfinished, plain, butt fugly. It looks terrible. You can't tell the different bars apart. Health, Stamina, they all look the same. The inventory is shit.
      So for the sake of praising something about this game, the combat does feel good. Out of all the pre-new games the combat feels the best in this one. You can melee enemies to death and it is quite satisfying.
      Matt Mercer as Leon rocked it. I really like his performance in the movies. Laura Bailey gives Helena automatic points for likability. And this all I can think of.
      So my reasons for bashing the game are a little more substantial than "it is cool" or "muh survival horror". It really is not fair to just write people off as hating something because it is cool when they very well could have valid criticisms for it.

    • @Aether2125
      @Aether2125  7 месяцев назад +14

      @@dkirby9052I do agree with some points but others are quite inaccurate:
      - Yes it may have a more Hollywood tone but at the same time it does have legitimately good storytelling with Chris’ campaign. It also connects pretty well the four stories respecting previous games and the timeline. Resident Evil has always had B movie kind of vibe since 1996, in RE5/RE6 it was adapted to its gaming era. Similarly the remakes have updated the tone of the original games to their era for better or worse.
      - The QTEs of RE6 are the best they’ve ever been. This game definitely overuses them and has dumb cinematic sequences but the QTEs in this game are much simpler to execute than RE4 and RE5 og. Hell, even RE4 Remake has less accessible QTEs.
      - I see a lot of criticism for the inventory and the HUD. I do agree they look ugly but they are pretty functional, responsive and clear once you understand it. The inventory is the only one in the series where you can operate while moving and performing combat actions which is befitting for an online game.
      - The combat of the game doesn’t receive half of the praise it deserves. Not only the mechanics are deep and functional but also several enemy interactions and designs are as good as they’ve ever been. Then when RE4 Remake came out, suddenly a lot of people were impressed with the poorly programmed parry system when it was implemented a million times better in this game. Not to mention the rewards for mastering the combat in this game are much more interesting and allow you to heavily save ammunition or trivialize sections.

      there are fun aspects of the game but it's biggest flaw is you have to know everything impossibly. Like the first time you played you probably got smoked by that ambulance. No dodge prompt, no hint, just don't stand there next time.
      Also I find that guns have no satisfying feelings of impact and most most fights you wonder if shooting is doing anything at all (except Deborah, that's a good boss fight)

    I gotta say, I’m starting to agree with you that the first chopper fight in RE6 Chris’ campaign isn’t that bad. I mean the hitbox issues are still there, but killing off the enemies to force the chopper to spawn more enemies is actually pretty consistent, so I can deal a lot of damage to it without it firing at me.

    • @Aether2125
      @Aether2125  7 месяцев назад +2

    • @idi-jq6cj
      @idi-jq6cj 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Aether2125 Yeah, the second one is awful. Trying to get your AI partner to not be near you is a pain because they don’t follow your commands very well. And while you can hide behind cover to avoid the explosive rounds the chopper fires, if it prioritizes your partner, the rounds can hit you. Not to mention, the chopper endlessly fires that machine gun with the only possible way to deal with it being to get the chopper to prioritize your partner.

    • @Aether2125
      @Aether2125  7 месяцев назад +2

      @@idi-jq6cj Yes. If you notice, EVERY boss in RE6 works perfectly fine on coop yet some of them are very bad on solo. RE5 is a bit like that too which is why I kinda mentioned the main experience is co-op in these games. Chris campaign is so much simpler when your AI isn’t triggering unwanted mutations and when you can split the tasks optimally with your partner. Even in Leon’s campaign, there are moments like the plane sequence where Helena AI sometimes won’t properly cover you and you’ll get cheap damage. It’s really frustrating.

    So now that you've done them back to back, which game is worse: RE6 or RE4R?

    • @Aether2125
      @Aether2125  Год назад +12

      Good question.
      I would say that the mechanics of RE6 are better implemented/more reliable but the storyline and the campaign's structure are way better in RE4R.
      The counterattack detection is much better in this game compared to RE4R's parry and it also uses a "high risk high reward" philosophy as many of the counterattacks will give you instant kill on enemies that would otherwise be very annoying to deal with (bloodshots, dogs, for instance) or a very good reward on bosses like Deborah (it gets rid of one of her tentacles). If you fail some of these counterattacks however, you will take a lot of damage. I do love this philosophy.
      RE4R's professional on the other hand not only doesn't give you a decent reward for parrying but its detection is miles worse than RE6 so it turns out to be a mechanic you will mostly use as a last resort method.
      Just notice the number of times I use the counterattack in this run against so many different attacks compared to the parry in RE4R. It is a key mechanic in several fights in this game.
      Aside from that, RE4R's campaign is well structured with a good variety of encounters that are not scripted and cinematic as RE6. RE6 does a really terrible job at demonstrating the best of its mechanics for a good portion of its campaigns and has severe pacing issues after chapter 2.
      As for the bosses, this game has some fun fights but also a lot of tedious bosses where you just wait for them to die. The co-op nature of this game causes a lot of problems that are not existent in RE4R and allows you to get cheap hits - imo that's the worst part of no damage in RE6. Like for instance in the plane sequence, there's a moment you rely on Helena AI covering you while you're busy with the controls (2:17:13) and it's completely RNG whether you get hit or not, even though you usually don't get hit.

    But you took damage tho, the block recharging the block doesn't count.

      I don’t consider it as damage. It’s mentioned in the description. I know the game counts it for the no damage medal but it doesn’t make sense since it’s literally impossible to get no damage medal in several chapters due to interactions that make you lose part of a block like the gas in the plane. The recharging hp system exists for a reason.

    Re 6 has the weirdest shotgun feedback. How come Capcom didnt apply the mechanics of shotguns from Re 5? LMAO
    Even the snipers felt weird except for Piers.

      The assault shotgun has decent feedback in Chris' campaign.
      This one is really bad, I agree but it is no different from RE2R's shotgun style.
      I like the snipers in this game except for their shaky aiming.
