Viktor waits a moment before disarming the grenade. I don't think this is him being unsure about HOW to do it, but WHETHER to do it. His next line seems telling "We always have a choice." If he had let it detonate, the only two people who truly understand hextech would be dead, limiting/halting weapons development.
@@Hohum37 WHOA this is a great point! Went right over my head 😳
also if you notice in the past episode jinx is always on high alert trying to avoid death. But in the scene in episode 7 when ekkos is on top of her, her face relaxes and smiles. She doesn’t move away from the bom she stays right under ekko, like she wanted to die. Jinx has been dealing with trama for years and by her self. Most people think about actually committing suicide. The fight between ekko and jinx was the same play fight they did when they were kids so it must have been a nostalgic moment for her. So why not die in the arms of her childhood best friend? Plus in the game it was mentioned that ekko had a crush on powder when they were kids. And the arcane enemy music video shows there were a lot of scenes of ekko and powder together as kids.
She showed some borderline suicidal tendencies. Waiting the last second before kicking or throwing her bombs in her lair. Or setting off bombs in the room she’s in. Either tendencies or just lack of care for her well being. Some self harm even when a kid. Hitting her head and stapling her wound shut when she could have done something less painful.
@@pugisherpug4366 I'm not sure if it's intended, but Jinx looked like she kind of got-off stapling her leg.
There's so many emotions that play across her face in the moment before she brings out the grenade
@@Hohum37 I thought it was more so her growing lack of emotional control brought on by all her other mental stuff. She’s very dramatic with her emotions and doesn’t always respond normally. People have been known to have improper responses during moments of severe emotional/physical stress. But it is possible that she enjoys the harm, maybe she finds it deserved for her failure in keeping Vi, or she finds the pain grounding during her bad psychosis episodes. Like she’d rather physical pain over the severe psychosis with mylo.
another thing to note is that Jinx placed the bomb on the ground instead of letting it attach to Ekko's clothes, giving him a chance to knock it away. deep down they both still care about each other 🥲🥲
It’s always so satisfying seeing someone who forgot abt Ekko/had no guess who the firelight guy could be realize that it’s Ekko lol
@@gcldvnblytz a part of me had totally forgot about him!! I was pleasantly surprised to say the least 😅
My favorite interpretation is this: Ekko fully believed that Powder was gone and that he had to kill Jinx. But he also knew how dangerous Jinx was. So he offers to play their childhood game with her one more time, trying to draw on her nostalgia. Thing is, he knows exactly how she will act in this scenario, and so he can put himself one step ahead of her. It's the perfect plan to be able to fully predict what has, until now, been a completely unpredictable character.
It's the perfect plan, with one fatal flaw: In order to convince her to go back to that place with him, Ekko needs her to see him as Little Man. And to do that, he needs to see her as Powder. It's the only way to immerse her deeply enough into it that he can predict her moves. And it works; but the downside comes at the end. Now that he has brought himself back, he sees her as Powder again and can't finish the fight. It was his ace-in-the-hole, and his fatal flaw. The same plan that guaranteed he could win the fight also guaranteed he could not ultimately defeat her. Which is so poetic.
"Ekko needs her to see him as Little Man. And to do that, he needs to see her as Powder" whew, that's a GREAT take!
It is a legitimate joy to see, as sharp as you have been this whole series, that Ekko's identity as the leader of the Firelights was successfully kept secret. And that bridge scene? Without a doubt one of the most genius storytelling techniques I have ever seen. For me, that was the moment that took this series from excellent to true work of art.
@@BlackShardStudio there was NO indication to me that Ekko was their leader, I was completely in the dark! 😅
@@artxroyalty I know I'm kinda late but I'm pretty sure the mask that he wear is the same one he used for spying in Benzo's shop in ep 1 but yeah it's really hard to catch that detail so I don't blame you :p
@@artxroyalty Some people just guess based on whoever is left: If you keep wondering both who the firewatch leader is and where Ekko is, you're gonna just pair them by default even if there's no hint. Some have noticed the hint in the shop but I know I hadn't at the time. If someone knows him from the game though, they probably figured that out immediately from the watch in Ep 4.
I'm happy I saw you having this reveal, that was cool and also funny because you've figured out so much in the show so quickly but for all of us, there's always a big thing someone missed. Hell for me, there were a lot of big things I missed on my first watch.
Ep6. Heimerdinger: "I've seen nations destroyed by a single seed and it looked exactly like this."
Ep7. Ekko: "If a single seed could make it down here, so could we."
@@Hohum37 i’ve been reading all of your comments and your analysis’ have been insanely good. I was really hoping and looking forward to your comments today!
@@artxroyalty I'm mostly re-iterating other people's thoughts. Although I have watched Arcane a lot, and come up with a few of my own observations, even for those, others have usually had the same idea independently. I think a book could be written about all the details and interpretations of Arcane. Some scenes pull double or triple duty in the storytelling, and there are places where individual frames have clearly been individually crafted with content that hardly anyone would spot.
Ekko’s powers in the game are time based, so you are correct that the fight is a nod to game lore. Just one more layer of storytelling that they managed to include in that sublime sequence. The whole show is like that though. With each rewatch I discover new depth to how they told this story, increasing its the emotional impact and my love of this work.
Your timing is impeccable: "Oh, these are the butterflies that Ji-" BOOM boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom!
And yes - we actually saw her tinkering with these exact butterflies back in Episode 4.
@@BBrainsTube omg I just went back and checked, it was during that “Get Jinxed” scene! I initially noticed them on the desk while she was stapling her thigh. To think they go back even further is crazy 🤯
@@artxroyalty It is called "perfect foreshadowing" 😂
What Silco says to Jinx that Vi would never think to say because it's too alien to her personality is "I need you."
I think Ekko realizes that while Jinx has changed a lot since their childhood, unlike him she hasn't actually MATURED. In some ways, she is mentally still that kid so by bringing her back to this game her tactics would be predictable to him and his would not be to her
Also, one of my favorite tiny moments from this episode is the brief shot where Caitlyn and Vi are being fired on, because it tells us everything we need to know about their personalities and their relationship. Cait tries to protect Vi by pulling her closer and wrapping around her protectively, which Vi never believes she deserves, while Vi tries to protect Cait by pushing her away and keeping her out of the line of danger, which is always the thing Cait hates the most
And that's all in like 1 second of animation. Brilliant directing
The Fortiche directors deserve immense praise; I think they also allowed freedom to their artists to show their creativity in the little details like this.
So there’s implied background with this episode about what happened in the time skip. So ekko because we know ekko and powder were friends when they were kids its good possibility that ekko has tried to reach out to her multiple times when he told vi that she’s gone. The firelights bug was what they called ekko gang because it lights in the darkest trenches which is the undercity. So it represents innocence. In the music video you had the fire light bug leave powder’s mouth. Like she lost her innocence. Anytime when crows around it means jinx is near and she’s going to do something crazy. Possibly get someone killed. Which also makes since because crows do symbolize death.
Also there’s also the wooden sword that ekko had and the fact he painted his face white like his hair. White can represent hope, he’s gangster but he’s actually trying to save and protect the neighborhood kinda like how gangs were in the beginning of our history. Wooden swords usually mean like a knight. So ekko is kinda like the undercitys white knight who’s trying to help and build something. The mask instead of helmet, a staff instead of sword, and hover board instead of a hours. Which is why he’s called the boy savior. Ekko and jinx = hope vs chaos
simply incredible; it really goes to show how much the small details make a huge impact in the end
@@kakesisthename8685 yep!
Fun fact that I just noticed recently after watching this show, who knows how many time, but Powder/Jinx blows up Caitlyn with an explosion in the first episode of all three acts.
Also, episode 3 is usually everyone's favorite episode up until the last act and at the end of the show its often either episode 7, 8 or 9.
I think 9, 3, 7 in that order are top 3 for me.
@@ESP-23 Vi’s beef is with Sevika and Jinx’s is with Cait 😅
Arcane subverting expectations: We either arrive at an unexpected destination, or where we predicted, but by an unexpected route.
@@Hohum37 and they do it so masterfully
@@naylaw1928 Indeed.. They aren't plot twists that come out of nowhere that make no sense - it's all rooted in character motivations, actions, and the situation.
@@Hohum37 watching this show is like reading a really good book even the things that piss you off you understand why it happened even if you don't like it
Or we get ehat we expected but we didn't anticipate the consequences or how it would go too far or something.
And a lot of times we both get t feel that satisfying feeling of predicting how it would go AND the surprise of a twist when what we expected doesn't work the way we expected.
Yaayyyy, act three has begun!
You might want to pan back to the scene in this episode where Jinx fires towards Vi and Caitlyn (on this video it's at 15:47). If you slow it down, you can see how Caitlyn attempts to shield Vi from the shots, while Vi pushes Caitlyn away from her to safety.
This miniscule detail really goes to show how each character reacts in the face of danger and is just another lovely detail in the animation that left me awestruck yet again. great reaction as always!
Aisha is so observant, man the number of people who don’t clock that the fight sequence on the bridge is (1) a game they used to play, and (2) Ekko was thinking through it to know where how Jinx was going to shoot. 🎉 loving this reaction series!
Thank you! I was confused as to why they were both smirking because literally NOTHING was funny about the situation, then when it showed us the "flashback" it all clicked for me!
I don't play the game, but I've heard that in the game his watch does actually allow him to see the future by a few seconds to predict moves and dodge or block them. So while he was running his watch, he was in fact seeing her moves ahead of time. It's one of those small details that isn't necessary to enjoy the scene, but once you know it just makes the scene that much better. I love how they added in extra bits like this for people who know the game but they did it in a way that those of us who haven't played don't feel like we're missing out on anything. Absolutely brilliant writing!
@@Tekkerue unless it's heavily retconned (and his story will make zero sense if they do that) what he uses in the game to do what he does is not a watch, hasn't been invented by him yet, and requires a hex tech gemstone to work which he currently doesn't have.
It was just him using his memory and super intelligence to anticipate jinx based on her attack patterns which he already knew.
It is a reference to his in game ability tho for those who know about it but he doesn't actually have that ability yet.
@@artxroyalty Haha awesome! Can't wait to see the rest of the series play out - and Bridging the Rift and the Season 2 trailer too!

From the game, there is an interaction recording of Ekko's voice, talking to Jinx, saying something like: "I used to be in love with you, until you started talking to your guns."
@@mkraulis yoooo that just makes this all hurt even more. Do y’all know if it was one sided??
@@artxroyalty I don'r know. I've just had the Arcane psychosis since it came out. Lots of people had included the Ekko line in their reviews.
@@mkraulis It has been put in the game in 2015, when ekko came out as a champion. I know arcane developement took 7 years, so maybe it is connected. Same with the other characters special interactions that seems related to arcane events.

I am not completely sure If Powder and/or Jinx understands or have a concept of Romance. Arrested Development. This Person is either a child (Powder) or chaos personified (Jinx). Therefore I think it must had been one sided.

There's indications throughout the series of the healing properties of shimmer. Silco's eye injections, here and in episodes 1 & 4, Deckard survives ground zero of the crystal explosion in episode 3, the potion maker adding some to the vial Caitlin gets for Vi's stab wound in episode 6, and Singed (the shimmer scientist) indicating to Viktor that it will protect him from the effects of the hexcore.
The respect for this show has broken the scale, hardly see anyone spoiling the show
I look forward to more of your reactions, your one of the few that actually talk about the points and in good depth 👌👌
Knowing nothing about the game or show is the best way to watch it IMO. It's great to see everyone appreciating that aspect of it. I didn't even know the name Jinx or anything going in. I was expecting Powder to be a playable character after she showed her bullseye shooting abilities, but I was expecting her to be at that age (my running theory at the time was the blue crystals would give her magical powers or something) so the time jump and her becoming Jinx was a total shock. 😲
@@Tekkerue literally, the fact it was based on LoL really put me off it for a long time. I played 3 rounds of LoL before uninstalling after not getting the mechanics a year or so ago before Arcane was released.
I knew of Jinx after watching her music vid, and that's all I knew, though she was just another crazy fan bait to get more players to spend money. Didn't even know the other characters existed.
Another thing I love about Arcane is the style and clothing for each character. So much more realistic, rustic, futuristic, detailed, grungier, stylised, iconic and recognisable to each character, each really ties into their personalities and upbringing so well.
Over the top outfits are fine in the LoL game, but doesn't give much info on who the character is or their personality that isn't super oversized and in your face, I get it since the characters are quite small on screen and is needed to differentiate from the chaos and vivid oversaturation.
But yeah apart from the cinematics, not much to attach or care for the characters apart from the designs themselves.
@@mr.raccoon1999 I didn't even know that much. lol The only thing I knew about LoL is that it existed because of paid sponsorships or ads on youtube. 😂 I hadn't even heard of Arcane until very recently when my sister mentioned it to me. Apparently she watched it 3 years ago but didn't pester me to watch it back then. I just finished Arcane about 2 weeks ago and now I'm obsessed with it! I've been binging reaction videos, looking into the game lore, working on a Jinx AMV now and have another AMV idea prepped for season 2 based on spoilers I've looked up... so yeah, I'm all into this show! Kind of bummed they are only doing two seasons though and have it end so quickly after just getting into it. Although, I'm definitely not upset I didn't have to wait 3 years for season 2. My sister said it has not been an easy wait. 😂
And yeah, the visuals are stunning in this show. From what I've found, they couldn't get the look they wanted with existing animation software, so they hand painted it and then scanned that into their animation software. Crazy stuff!
There was actually a deleted scene in this episode. It was a flashback of Ekko building the firelights and trying to find and save Powder (Probably why Jinx calls Ekko “The boy saviour”). It was cut because the episode would be too long.
Day 1 : progress day. Ends with the attack that almost kills Cait.
Day 2 : aftermath of the attack. Cait loses her job and meets Vi.
Day 3 : starts with Cait freeing Vi. They spend the day in the Undercity. Ends with Vi and Jinx's reunion.
Day 4 : starts with episode 7.
Caitlyn's parents are overprotective, she can't disappear for a day without some alarm bells ringing.
The only potential conjecture to this is that Jayce says something about it being "weeks now" in a council meeting, and since Cait met Vi on the same day he became a councilor, there could be more time passing that we didn't see on screen. Though he might just be exaggerating for effect, since he's complaining about how long the councilors take to make a decision
@aranthur it might be exaggerating for effect or the writers forgetting how fast the paste is.
This line bothers me since the first time I heard it. I watched several videos about the timeline of Arcane and the conclusion is always that it's impossible that the second and third acts span more than 10 days. The storylines are too intertwined.
@Morbacounet One thing I've considered is that it's similar to the length of the timeskip or Viktor's diagnosis, when he asks how long he has left to live. The writers want us to have a vague idea of the time passing but are VERY INTENTIONALLY avoiding any sort of definite numbers on pretty much any event in the series. Acts 2 and 3 are somewhere between a few days and a few weeks, and they don't want us to know for sure in any more detail than that. That's why that Jayce line was included, to obscure definite answers
Ekko looks at his watch in episode 4 because the crystal like substance that restrains Sevika and Silco's henchmen only lasts 5min.
A small detail is that Ekko recognized Marcus on the bridge. That's why Marcus shot him : Ekko knows what Marcus did in episode 3.
@@Morbacounet ooooh I didn’t even put two and two together!! “I saw everything” omg that’s crazy 🫢
Right! I didn’t connect it before, but that also makes sense with how angry Ekko gets when Cait says that he’s wrong about the corruption (when they first talk in the firelight base).

@@felixmichel3217 Thank you so much!! As someone who went to school for animation, this show just continues to leave me in a perpetual state of awe 😅
fun fact, it's canon in game i think that Ekko had a crush on Jinx "before she started talking to her guns" so i think they carried it over to the show that he had a crush on her while they were kids, but after Powder joined Silco and became Jinx, he gave up on that idea. have fun with that thought
WHY WOULD YOU SAY THIS 😭
@artxroyalty 💜✨️
In the Game, Ekko is called "The Boy Who Shattered Time". He has technology called a Z-Drive(That`s what the Firelights` hoverboards become in the lore). He can use the Z-Drive to go back in time to heal injuries and such but it can only go back a couple seconds and can`t heal severe injuries, only more minor ones.
“A reverse Sour Patch Kid” made me burst out laughing. And is also a pretty good summary of the experience of this show overall. 😂

@@kakesisthename8685 y’all are evil for that 😂😂😂
Yo I feel so much for Marcus, he went from a hot headed cop hellbent on violence and catching “bad guys” to a caged shell of man who only wanna get out of the grip of Silco, but he can’t, cause now he has a daughter and he fears for her. He’s a tragic figure who went down the rabbit hole of bad decisions because he made a deal with the devil when he was young, violent and dumb, only to meet his end butchered on bridge. I mean that’s sad.
It was really him in act 1 that made him insufferable for me, I always wondered what his long game would’ve been had he made it out of episode 7
@ Yea I also thought he was a piece of crap in act 1, but I’ll try to clarify my views. So long text ahead^^.
If I’m putting myself in his boots in act 1, I would say that, as a character, he ultimately wanted to do good. After all he wanted to catch the guys who blew up a building. In his head, Zaun is a nest of scumbags and criminals and now the council puts a lot of pressure on him and Grayson, so he decided to act quick…and thus he met his demise: Silco. Marcus was written to be a foil to the more diplomatic Grayson. He’s an image of the intolerance of piltover. He’s the face of brutal occupation, of imperialism.
But then arcane did what arcane does and they could not leave it at that. So after act 1 they showed us the weight of the years, the price paid in guilt, that Marcus carries on his shoulders. The fiery, bold, young man with ideals of swift justice gave way to a somber yet wiser man who tries to follow in the footsteps of Grayson. Thing is, he’s tied. He shook hands with the devil and the devil can take all away, daughter and career alike. So whatever he does he gotta dance to Silco’s tune and he loathes it to the point where he considers to suicide bomb Silco. That’s the tragedy of Marcus. A man so proud brought so low.
I thought it was good for him to go the way he did in ep 7. It underscores the sadness of his life
So good! Also i love how Arcane doesn't "hold your hand" making one figure things out for themselves.
Great episode and discussion. Ekko goes in to that last scene angry and convinced Powder is gone, as, among other implied things, we see her kill members of his crew during the fight in episode 4. And then what is amazing about the bridge scene is that, with that in mind, the writers and directors then find the perfect way to also make us feel and believe that he could still hesitate and feel sympathy. So good.
I LOVE seeing you catch all the details and your analysis even as you watch it is so neat to see! Love how genuine you are!
I also find it funny a lot of people miss the Nuance of the writing that that conversation between Jayce Victor and Mel happened just a few scenes after silco and Jinx discussed they are intentionally making a weapon. We feel bad for the underground by and large cuz we've been shown to do so but that in turn inherently lessens our empathy levels for the upper City people, and their plausible dangers, who irregardless of class or finances would still be caught in the crossfire just as any UnderCity person would
@21:40 Spitting facts! Yes, animation is an incredibly powerful medium and is not limited to just kid shows!! Loved your reaction to this episode, can't wait for the rest of the season 😃 Hope you watch Bridging the Rift too 😁
Seeing animated shows like this that continue to break barriers for animation, it honestly excites me for the future of animation and storytelling alike!
Such a nice catch with the game between Jinx and Ekko - ANYWAYS good luck with the next two episodes LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
@@_Thaery I have my tissue box ready 😭
A few thoughts I had with this episode:
I could see Marcus and his daughter Ren having a tragic background as well. At some point you can see a picture drawn by her showing, what looks like her mother in heaven, so it's a safe bet to assume she's dead and Marcus is raising her alone. Now what if the mother died in the uprising we saw in episode 1? The same that also killed Vi's and Powder's parents. Wouldn't that give a plausible (if not justified!) reason for his hate and prejudices against the people of the Undercity? Furthermore how do you think that'll make Ren think about the Undercity when she grows up? Obviously this is all speculation, but I can totally see that fitting into the usual theme of Arcane.
I think that the fight scene between Jinx and Ekko on the bridge is another example of how crazy good the visual storytelling in Arcane is. There's literally not a single word said in the whole sequence and yet we learn so much about both of them and what drives them. The emotions on Jinx' face when Ekko hesitates hitting her always break my heart. Powder looks so sad and despondent that I can believe that right that moment she was ready to end it all and just kill herself. Not Ekko, but herself. If she'd wanted to kill him, she could have somehow attached the grenade to him, like she usually does. Instead she just drops it next to the both of them.
@@midnight1672 hmmm I like this angle with Ren’s mom possibly mirroring a Vi/Powder situation. Ren is also very young, I’m assuming she was conceived sometime closer to episodes 2&3 because the timeskip between episodes 3&4 was several years apart. Regardless, it’s definitely an interesting headcannon/theory!
@@artxroyalty Good point about Ren's age and the tome skip. I hadn't really considered that. Then again, the exact time of Ren's mother's death isn't really important for the theory to work, so I guess I stand by my idea. Maybe something about Ren will be revealed in Season 2. 😉
after you're done with episode 9 and join the rest of us in waiting for season 2, I highly recommend watching the 5-part "making of" documentary here on youtube called "bridging the rift" - it really shows how much thought, love and effort went into everything.
When I posted a comment on your Imagine Dragons video about Ekko and the Firelights I added a spoiler warning for episode 7 with several spaces so it wouldn't show up without expanding my comment. It was a theory I saw about the firelight crawling out of Powder's mouth in the music video. If the tragic events hadn't played out in episode 3, Powder probably would have grown up with the group and become a Firelight like Ekko. The firelight crawling out of Powders mouth symbolizes the path of her becoming a Firelight leaving her because she is going down the path of becoming Jinx instead. This is definitely the best theory I've heard on that part.
I don't play the game either, but yes, the watch is a game mechanic. Apparently the watch allows him to manipulate time by a few seconds so he can see into the future and anticipate moves allowing him to dodge or block them. My solution for this show is to get Ekko to swallow a magical blue orb to give himself complete time control, then he can rewind time all the way back to episode 3 and erase it completely. We need to prune that bad timeline TVA style. 😂
9:30 "That's a lie" I don't think it is. Silco is partially wrong, here, but he's not lying - this is what he believes. He has no faith in the "bonds of family", after all. What he knows of Vi is that she punched Jinx so hard her nose bled, and walked away, and then Marcus said she was dead. Now, his pride and joy steals something truly remarkable from Piltover, and immediately, the long lost, presumed dead sister shows up looking for her alongside one of Piltover's paramilitary thugs? If I were Silco, nothing in the world would ever convince me that these two facts are not directly linked, and the other part of it is that those two facts ARE directly linked. Vi may be here for her sister, but she's here because of Caitlyn, and Caitlyn is very much there for the stone, and Vi has not abandoned her despite having every opportunity to. So I don't think this is a lie. Silco is speaking from a very reasonable assumption that isn't entirely correct.
@@th3voice oh yeah, I’m not directly calling him a liar. I would’ve said “he’s lying” but instead I’m stating because of what we know as the audience WE know it’s a lie and that Vi is in fact here for her, not the crystal.
@@artxroyalty I kind of feel like a lie requires a liar, someone who knows they are saying something that isn't true. It depends how you look at it, I suppose :P
@@artxroyalty As someone who has been accused of being a Silco apologist, I agree with you that he’s lying in this scene. He knows full well from his face off with Vi in Episode 6 that she’s there for Powder - it’s the entire crux of their conversation and it’s why he nearly loses his mind when Vi and Caitlyn escape. He knows that Vi is out to find her sister and that this is the one thing that can break her away from him. So I think it’s pretty clear that when he claims that Vi is there for the crystal, not Jinx, that he’s intentionally telling an untruth.
What makes Silco such a fascinating antagonist, though, is that even though he’s definitely being manipulative and deceitful here, it’s equally clear that he’s doing so *not* because he’s trying to put the screws on his most powerful asset, but because he’s terrified of losing his daughter. It doesn’t excuse his manipulation one bit, but boy howdy does it make it incredibly, painfully human.
When it comes to Jinx, yes, Silco is sometimes manipulative, but not out of a desire to do harm, but I believe, to protect her from harm and himself from abandonment, and to further the cause.
When he goes on about Vi betraying her, he genuinely is telling the truth as he sees it, because like all people, our perceptions are filtered through our own life experiences, and Silco, like so many in the undercity, have major trauma. For him, being betrayed by the person who (presumably) mattered most to him, his closest friend & mutual visionary, his brother in arms against the oppressors. "I am your family. Everyone else betrays us." He saw in Ep 3 what he believed with all sincerity to be the same kind of cruel betrayal he went through himself. That's why he took pity on her in the first place. He sees himself in her. His care for Jinx, though flawed (& often leading to bad consequences), is tied to his abandonment issues, and we see this in some of the things he says to make sure he doesn't lose her. Not just to prevent himself from losing the only person he cares most about (AGAIN), but to prevent Vi from betraying her again (as he believes she will), so Jinx will not be traumatized again.
Silco is a broken man, a complex character, and that's why he's my favorite. They literally took a radical, scheming drug lord who was totally fine with murdering Vander's children... and make us second-guess our feelings on him when we see him as a father to Jinx. Make us care about and even like him. She's the only one he is always gentle with. To see such a human side of someone who has committed so many evils throws you for a loop! Truly a masterclass in character writing.
I'm happy to see reactors who also like his character/grasp & appreciate such nuances instead of viewing him as a stereotypical villain.
This episode is my favorite, and in a single episode... Ekko became my favorite character in the entire damn show. Piltover and Zaun aren't heaven and hell, they're lawful evil and chaotic evil fighting against one another. Ekko and the Firelights are the one faction that aren't concerned with wealth or power, they're only concerned with survival and the protection of those caught in the crossfire of this conflict. Schnee did a really great video about Ekko. I highly recommend it!
Why am I marathoning the entire season again with a new reactor?!!? 🤣Great reactions so far! Looks like I am watching the whole season again in one night
It appears the season 2 hype caused a resurgence 😂
I watched a video where they showed how the animation did to really make a difference between Jinx and Powder faces. Like you can really tell when it’s Jinx or when there is Powder. Like the end of the fight with Ekko, the reason why he couldn’t finish her : she was Powder again.
And when she saw Vi for the first time in episode 6. You can see Powder, but when Cait is there, her face changes back to Jinx.
I think it’s kinda obvious but it’s still really great to see a montage with the changing face. (I wouldn’t recommend you to search now this kind of video because possibly spoiler x) )
P.S. sorry for mistakes, I’m not fluent in english
I love the detail, when Jinx shoots at Vi and Caytlin on the bridge, Cayt try to hug Vi to block her from the bullets and Vi pushed her away to safety.
@@KdVSerpentinit wait I have to go back and look for that 😳
you will learn Ekko's lore or his game counterpart in season 2, when he pairs up with Heimadinger. The device you see Ekko carrying the hextec gemstone is a big clue to who his character is like in League of Legends. That is all I will say but that device. Every League character in this show will become who they are in season 2. And from what Christian Linke, one of the writers for the show, all the characters will become the opposites who they are compared to this season for season 2 being released in 2 months.
Your Arcane reactions are probably my favorite for this series.
@@RustyChilders whoaaa that’s a huge honor, thank you 😳
"what is up with him and that clock" 👀
I dont remember where i heard it but i do believe there is backstory to ekko having tried to save jinx in the prior to vi leaving jail. Apparently he got really close but powder was already too far gone and she refused to leave with ekko saying silco was her family.
Thats why jinx mocks ekko by calling him the boy savior. She took offense to him trying to save her. She took it as him calling her weak.
@@corporealghoul yessss the blue ray disk release!!
"If Viktor were to take Shimmer would that actually alter his DNA" It shouldn't, or at least they don't expect it to cause Hextech is what is supposed to alter his DNA. Shimmer is just a more classic drug that has many properties such as healing, strengthening, addiction and more relevant here: The ability to survive a violent transition (since shimmer in high dose can turn people bigger), that's the property Viktor needs to survive Hextech, and it's Hextech that's supposed to be changing his DNA.
While it's not like Shimmer is unable to have permanent DNA altering effects depending on the version, it doesn't seem to happen with the normal version, especially not a watered down version that contains just the part to survive a violent transition. Even the symptoms we see on the addict in Ep 6 seem similar to symptoms from normal drug that doesn't change your DNA and Silco has used a watered down version for years without any change.
That being said, using both at the same time without knowing the details of either (the UC doc, Singed, doesn't know the details of Hextech while Viktor isn't a shimmer specialist) might have some unintended consequences on his DNA.
"How long has Caitlin been gone?" That's a bit muddy but I would say between 36 hours and 60 hours. We know at least a day and a half has passed because it's the day after seeing Jayce that she takes Vi out of prison (cause it's bright after being dark like evening/very early morning earlier, so unless Jayce went to visit a recovering patient at 4 AM, he came the evening before). Normally only a full day and night would have passed since Vi got released: The day of her release that ends around when they beat Sevika (as it's clearly the evening for Jayce who's sleeping with Mel in the night) but then there's a whole new day for Jayce who helps Vik, has a council meeting, discuss with Marcus and it's the evening again when Marcus closes the bridges.
But the issue is that this new day doesn't seem to have existed for Vi and Cait. We seem them close to where they were after beating Sevika, we see them arrived downside and immediately enchain to meeting the Ep 1 guy, getting a cure and meeting Silco. So either there's a bit of a timeskip somewhere (which I don't think there was time to except after being captured by the Firelight, but why would Ekko make them wait a whole day and I doubt it takes that long to go to their hideout, plus it seems they've barely talk when they arrived as they're still saying basic stuff like "it's not Silco" and "You're hiding Jinx/Hextech from me" which would be their very first topic of conversation), or there's a small inconsistency between timelines, or finally, the bits with Jayce and Mel happens out of synch with the Vi storyline: The same evening he goes to see Cait in Ep 4 is the evening he goes to see a concert and then sleeps with Mel even though it's already the next day for Cait and Vi's storyline.
"Caitlin for President" I mean I get you but Ekko for President. Caitlin as Ekko's Sheriff. Not only does that fit their respective skillset better but the "enforcers" (or whatever they become cause that name needs to die in the same fire that killed Marcus) needs a reasonable but still incorruptible fighter for the good of Piltover and (way more importantly) the UC, someone that has control over that police force.
3:48 I’m so happy no one spoiled it! 😄
This "might" be a spoiler for S2, so DO NOT read further if you're worried about that........
Echo in game is a time manipulator. He can speed up/slow down/rewind time for a small amount of it. It's believe he will use a hextech crystal to invent his "time machine" from the game in S2, probably with Heimerdinger's help.
¡Gracias!

Im really excited for you to get to Bridging the Rift
Hello again love, your surmising jinx as being hyper intelligent is correct, but you fail to realize that Ekko is also a genius inventor, the difference is coming from the perspective of having too many resources versus not having enough, and thats something they dance with alot in every relationship you see in the series, Viktor and Jayce are two sides of the same coin, just like Ekko and Jinx, imagine being 5-6 years old and all you do is train a skillset, scavenge for materials, and tinker, thats what they have been doing the whole time.
“Jinx just has like, the worst timing” - yup that’s, that’s the show. Pack it up, we’re done here.
Sevika having a "wholesome" moment with Silco. This puzzled me originally. She doesn't like Jinx in the first place, and most recently has been left unconscious, hanging upside-down, by her. My explanation is that it isn't about helping Jinx, it's about stopping Silco from being distracted and going to search for her, so that he attends the meeting with the chembarons. Sevika is all about "the cause."
Idk, I always felt like that was one of the most (the only) more emotionally honest moment(s) she had. 🤔
I wonder if we’ll get some more Sevika context at some point. The level of dedication she’s showed to Silco is kinda suprising. I mean she jumped in front of Pows monkey bomb in ep 3.
@@niave113 She's being emotionally honest in that she seems to be using her life experience to give useful advice. But the motive isn't because she likes Jinx. imo
That's a good idea. You should probably go and see all the arcane character's champion sheets from the game's wiki after all this, that could also go into your idea of discussions after you finish the series, like- contrasting how they are in the game lore vs them in arcane.
Not Viktor though! That’s too much spoilers 😅

I've been enjoying your reactions so so much to arcane! And I so agree with your oppinion on animation and live action! Animation has so many possibilities and stuff you can do better in that medium than live action so I definetly prefer it over live action and I want animation to get the respect it deserves. Give me more animation for adults hahaa. And not just saying this bc I'm a 3D modeler and generally obsessed with cool looking 3d hahaa. Also if you need another animated show to watch that is for adults and it has super cool and unique artstyles in it, I highly highly recommend the show Love Death and Robots! It's seriously incredible and it has some of the most beautiful breath taking animation I've ever seen if you don't count Arcane :D Cheers, sending good vibes from Finland :>

Ekko vs Jinx is so good
Doing Marcus dirty. He is flawed yes, but he has no choice, this was very much portayed when Silco and his goons visit his home and threaten his daughter. He simply tried to follow in Greysen's footsteps, but Silco is not Vander. He can't get out, he does what he does to ensure his daughter stays safe.
Yes Marcus is flawed, all the characters are, but I can't pretend to like his character.
Is it a microdosing device?
We don't ever see Silco load it with a shimmer vial. I think we would have if the creators wanted to make it clear.
When Jinx stabs him in the cheek, we don't see any shimmer.
When his eye is stabbed, it leaks a little, which is inconclusive; is it shimmer leaking out or pus from his eye?
I always saw Silco relieving pressure in his eye or something with that device. Apart from your points, Silco uses the same syringe/injector thingie before shimmer is even tested on the rat or Deccard (or whatever his name was in act 1).
@@Hohum37 I asked bc it looked like some purple liquid dribble was leaking from it. So I figured he was microdosing to “heal” his eye or maybe keep it from possibly going blind
I will die on this goddamn Hill. Yes we all saw Oppenheimer or know something of it. However I will never change my mind that this is the arcane societal equivalent of: your neighbor, who hates your guts, came home after buying a f*** ton of Tech Nines and a small nuke (the gem). Could you really blame that other neighbor from wanting their own personal self-defense weapon of a similar caliber. shit might pop off if you get your own however I wouldn't blame anybody for wanting to protect their own
Preesh for listening to my Ted talk
@@naylaw1928 I definitely understand, it’s just a scary thought because it’ll never be about “just protecting yourself”. Good intentions fall short which seems to be a reoccurring theme in this show and THAT’S what makes me nervous.
@@naylaw1928 haha all TED talks are welcome over here!
@@artxroyalty I don't entirely disagree however there is very few things in the world that we do for just one reason and one reason only. Typically in these kinds of stories I try to acknowledge the inherent difference between falling short and nefarious intent based off the story and then seeing where chips fall. one of my particular favorite things about your reactions to the show is that you intentionally try to find the nuance and characters and their decisions before jumping the gun. Typically once I make this argument on a different reaction Channel by this point people are already calling her straight up evil without digging into the Nuance of the situation or her character and it makes me sad 😞 it feels like a disservice to the writing.
@@naylaw1928 I see where you’re coming from 100%. It’s one of the things that I feel makes this show bittersweet. Characters that I initially thought I’d hate, I’m starting to understand on deeper levels and I’m becoming conflicted in where I stand on certain situations. It mirrors real life in the sense that nothing is black and white, and that’s a testament in itself to brilliant writing.
The only thing is, I haven’t exactly been able to clock the character of Mel. Why she does the things she does and her underlying motives. Her character throws me for a bit of a loop, but I really want to like her.

Jinx is not getting invited to the wedding, is she.
You can't really blame Vi for not sticking around given Jinx literally just tried to murder her.

@artxroyalty "hey remember that time I tried to shoot you both? Great times, great times."
Bit late, but glad you're the 2nd person (both black women 🤔) I've seen agree that, despite how dope the fight was, Vi should've stayed behind on the bridge. Obviously, the worst doesn't happen, but what was the best case scenario in her mind there? Ekko wins & kills her, making your escape from prison pointless? Or Jinx wins & kills him, leaving the beautiful community you just toured without it's leader & you as the only member of your (found-)family she hasn't killed yet? Hell, that grenade could've killed both of 'em.
It's a bit morbid, but the only reason I don't think of this as bad writing is because even knowing he just watched Benzo get ripped apart, she still left Little Man all by his lonesome in episode 3 😅 Bringing him to the bar & having him & Powder watch each other's backs, ready to escape if Silco sends goons could've made a world of difference, but things just make more sense if you think of Ekko as an afterthought in Vi's mind.
Yesss I also mentioned in my Arcane s2 reaction of episode 9 that I was a bit annoyed with how Vi tends to run past him when he’s down to get to another person (in these instances Cait and then Jinx).
The show established back in act 1 that Ekko was a part of their family dynamic, I guess I just didn’t really feel that connection as heavily y’know?
Dude I feel like you would love blue eye samurai

Rest in Piss, WILL NOT BE MISSED tbh
"This show does so well with subverting my expectations that it actually pisses me off." I'm guessing that this is a bit of hyperbole and/or sarcasm? 🤔 I absolutely love when a show can progress in a way that I didn't see coming, as long as it makes sense for the characters and established world. Predictable plots or sudden twists purely for shock value tend to just be so boring to me, haha.
"Live action is cool, but the things you can do with animation... is insane!" This opinion however? *Hard agree!* I think the past two points combined are largely why I've always been a big anime fan over more common Western media 😁

Im glad you enjoyed that one. I feel like it's a little underrated.
It's so good!
Re ekko in the games, idk, its technically a spoiler for s2 if you look him up but I don't think it's a big deal. But it's up to you whether you wanna look that up or not, and when.
Riot is making a fighting game and he's one of the launch characters I'll just say he looks fuckin amazing in it, really cool.
I will say they allude to what he does in the games and I assume will do in the future of the show in a really clever way in this ep
Powder said in the first episode that she is no good at fighting. Ekko's watch, in game, allows him to travel back in time for a short period. in Arcane he uses it to relive events. in his memory, Powder's 4th shot hits him. in the actual fight you hear Jinx fire the 4th shot but it misses and that's when Powder resurfaces (you can see sudden fear on Jinx's face). Ekko unsurprisingly beats her because (as said earlier) Powder's no good at fighting.
Jinx, in this episode, is under a lot of stress, she's found and lost her sister and then she finds her again with her enemies - Ekko and an Enforcer. she's lost the gem to the firelights (remember Ep 4 when the firelights awoke Powder and started her current problems with confidence and feeling trustworthy to Silco) and Silco has said he needs the superweapon that Jinx is building which she can't complete. Jinx understands Silco. she understands he is actually fighting Piltover and is not just a gang boss. in the game there are references to their relationship - she trusts him and he takes care of her. "we are both broken" she writes in her diary. This means she understands the importance of the weapon to Silco and Zaun - which is why the fact she feels lied to by him and Vi is such a disaster for her. she is panicking and certainly not thinking straight and when confronting Vi and the Enforcer(monster) she opens fire. the ensuing fight with her childhood friend is the final straw. when Jinx uses her Chomp Grenades she attaches them to the target. she didn't with Ekko, she gave him a chance.
The video Enemy its important for the images who represent the child relationship between Ekko and Jinx... #timebomb
@@vicentxarq-al957 I’m curious about this timebomb…👀
I get so sick of people who can't not put the information they have as the viewer onto other characters that are lacking information, especially when she said Caitlyn doesn't know so as to not judge her.
Silco is to some extent manipulating her, but as far as he's concerned he didn't see what happened between Jinx and Vi. To him, it's the exact same thing as to what happened between him and Vander. He was betrayed and almost left for dead, so was she. Please stop taking the information you have as the viewer and pretending every other character should have that information when they don't.
@@topgamer101 oh look, the same complaint. Take this somewhere else, I will continue to react to the show just as I have been. Looks like you’ll just have to be sick…should I nickname you Viktor moving forward?? I get the feeling I’ll be seeing you in my next uploads 😉
Something to think about. Silco was plagued by the Firelights who are commanded by a very specific figure who wears a mask so they can’t identify them. If he knew their identity it would be simple to deal with them. So he sends his “daughter” against them, and she would have SEEN who that leader was even through that mask, and yet Ekko’s identity was never given up.
Equal chances Ekko knew where Jinx layed her head at night and never shared that info with the Firelights…⏱️💣
