The most underrated and least known of all the Bond films. It can be a bit of a hot mess at times, but you can't beat the casting and the score (RIP Burt Bacharach). The title song is my favorite Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass song, hands down. Totally crank it to 11 worthy. Also worth noting: this movie marks the first screen appearance (IIRC) of Jacquelyn Bisset, listed in the credits as "Jacky Bisset."
I love this movie... and I found out thru the years that anyone who doesn't get this movie has a complete lack of sense of humor and irony, amongst other exaggerations The music is so cool
Nice analysis, quite agree. Dumb, stupid movie, one of my favourites. The music makes you forgive all the sins. And then it just ends up being pure fun.
Peter Sellers must have been one of the others who didn't, he was being a prick and walked out of the filming, everything had to be compensated to finish the movie.
@@anthonymeyers3184 Sellers had a huge tantrum when Princess Margaret visited the set. I have always liked this movie for it's oddness and comedy. Such an awesome spoof to the Bond films though it is based (loosely) on the Casino Royal book. Music is fabulous and some of the actors and actresses are so over the top that you get lost in its madness and charm. Recently someone mixed the opening theme and ending theme to this movie but used it for the opening visual credits of Daniel Craig's Bond in Casino Royale (2006). Strangely enough, it works really well.
Thanks, Agnus. Casino Royale ('67) is dope AF! I grew up screening Casino Royale endlessly on local TV and it imprinted on me quite saliently including the English whimsy sung by Mike Redway during the end credits. In short, CR is an epic, heavily underrated 007 classic. But wait, there's more: In addition to the music, the many talented leads and co-stars including but definitely not limited to Niven, Sellers, Allen, Welles and the myriad of exquisite beauties (who lodged themselves in my subconscious so deeply that by the time I hit my teens a passion for bright, funny, capable, curvy (mostly) blondes played heavily into romantic choices until I learned that "a pretty face don't mean no pretty heart" which is not to say that all intelligent gorgeous blondes are sociopaths lol. But looking back, yeah: Ursula Andress, Joanna Pettet et al definitely made their mark on my young heart) in CR, lending their collective talent to help the film's five directors create a fun and humorous take on Fleming's work, made quite an impression on me and dare I say an entire generation or two. In any event, the initial closing credits song featuring Mike Redway remains happily lodged in my mind to this day, popping into my head at appropriate moments and sometimes seemingly at random, so I was well-pleased to find it posted on RUclips (along w/every other piece of music ever recorded), so again, a big thanks to Agnus for taking the time to make this exquisite piece of Casino Royale available to the world. Final note: the sprawling cast of CR contains a vast myriad of talented performers, a true all-star ensemble including a plethora of already well-established actors and many who went on to enjoy long careers in cinema. Too many to acknowledge completely in this forum but I'll mention English actor Caroline Munro who starred in Dr. No and a number of horror and sci-fi flicks (including the so-bad-it's-good Italian Star Wars film Starcrash featuring a very young David Hasselhoff and Christopher Plummer), Journey to the Center of the Earth and many others including an uncredited role in Casino Royale at the tender age of 16. It surprises me that Casino Royale was and is so heavily panned by film critics (rated only 20% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, for example) as though it were expected to be a serious Bond film when it is clearly a comedy that, IMO, cleverly and effectively riffs on both the spy thriller genre and a number of others not to mention being a wonderful time capsule of late 60's Western culture. Sure, with five directors it can't help but be a hot fussy mess in many ways, but for a comedic take on 007, it's 1000 times better than, say, Double 007 and pre-dates Mike Myers Austin Powers flicks by decades. In summary, Casino Royale is great fun and a definite standout among the many films based on Ian Fleming's work.
Here's a fact about the film you'll love. In the bagpipes scene, out of respect for Scotland culture, Ursula Andress took off her underpants to wear the kilt and she mooned on camera to prove it
Trivia, this version was recorded first! Bacharach, however wasn't happy with the vocals, so he got Herb Alpert's Trumpet to replace Redway's vocals. Here's the infoen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sounds_Like...

Good old Jack Clegg for recording it at cts. Never had herb albert at those sessions so must have been added after. Maybe something to do with Phil Ramone
I love how everyone in heaven is dressed like an angel, but then Evelyn has no wings and is in Scottish clothes, was his character even Scottish to begin with?
1967 was when I popped out? How do I remember this theme-tune???? This needs a remake, should be 2 bonds: Serious-Bitch-Bond and Go-with-the-flow-bond. Guess Mike Myers did this with Austin, BTW where is Austin?
I wish the makers of this film had struck a deal with Eon productions to make this film after Thunderball. Instead of this film being made and instead of Eon productions making You only live twice. Found it kind of odd how David Niven was given third billing in the opening and end credits as James Bon-- oops sorry, Sir James Bond behind Peter Sellers and Ursula Andress. Unlike the James Bond actors in the official film series (oh and Connery in Never Say Never Again).
Peter Sellers was supposed to be the star of the film, not Niven. IIRC they increased Niven's role after Sellers got fired, in an attempt to stitch some sort of coherence into the plot. Obviously it didn't work but Niven did his best.
The first 20 seconds sounds almost the same as the 1935 song, "I'll never say never again, again" (that was sung by Darla in Little Rascals). Anyone else notice a resemblance?
Well the original plan was to make a rival bond film with Richard Burton as 007 but he wanted too much money 💰 so they ended up with this nonsense Sellers went into it seriously though putting himself into a brutal keep fit regime ( trying to keep up with Sean ,,, 🤨🏴?)
RIP Mr Bacharach. I will never forget the thrill in my career to be asked by you to sing these songs.
Thank you Mr Redway
Does this exist on any medium currently? Besides an original soundtrack album? Anybody know if this version is available?
You own this song!
You did a cracking job ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!

For the longest time I thought Peter Sellers sang this. But it's an English singer named Mike Redway.
