I don’t think we use unpaid fare reports anymore I’ve never been issued one of those booklets so I assume we don’t issue them anymore but great video Anton! It is very frustrating when people who don’t want to pay get on the bus I use the sms system every time someone gets on without paying I don’t confront them as I don’t want to stress myself out with any arguments as you well know driving a bus is stressful as it is. As our controllers say every day don’t confront them just use the sms system and let TFL know of the fare evasion and let them deal with it.
Hi Taylor. Yes, I use the sms system myself to let TFL know of fat evasion. I dont have time to fill out an orange fare report slip I just use it occasionally, when I know someone has genuinely lost their wallet or is vulnerable/distressed. I think they are slowly phasing these booklets out from the garages.
I remember one rainy day around 2014 I was riding 94 from marble arch down to queensway busy day tons waiting at the stop and by the time I tapped in my oyster card was under the limit and I was forming a line behind me had to scramble and get out all the loose change, I was young and panicking but the bus driver kept me on he wasn’t too happy but he didn’t give me a ticket. Thanks for reminding of these acts of kindness
Former driver in Glasgow 93 - 03 , it’s true about pulling up to a stop , you home in on the one that’s going to cause you an issue , all sorts of situations over the years , the only thing that’s predictable about the travelling public is that they are unpredictable, even if buses were free they would still cause you problems .
Are you disgusted by people who fare dodge? Seriously? Not by murderers? Paedos? etc? The only disgusting person here is you, Robbie, I fare dodge and get away with it because I use tactics.
'Fare Evasion' is up on the increase here in London. TFL is losing alot of money and people forget how does the buses are being maintained, how TFL make a reveune. From my experince I have been in this situation and it is horrible to deal with those passangers who doesn't want to pay, but they have food in their hand and so forth, but I must be careful and don't judge. But paying your fare does help your route to continue to run for a good service. If no one pays for their fare, then buses will disappear and won't run. Anton you are a inspirational person and I am glad I have watched you have grown on RUclips and it has been a mighty privilage to know you, Keep up the amazing videos
i used to work with the London overground and seeing the amount of people pushing the gate and not tapping their card is genuinely disgusting and fumes me
Yeah in New York I'm a former MTA bus operator, it used to happen the same way they'll play around with their MetroCard and say oh no it's a wrong card so I wait....I Say too myself okay maybe they had the wrong cards you know. But then when it comes to the realization that they don't have their fare and I have to say sorry I can't let you ride. Then they want to treat you like you're the jerk. I simply say hey I'm doing my job. I try to understand where people are coming from, because I remember what it's like to be a passenger before I was a bus operator. I try to be helpful but I don't let people play games with me. It also happens when people mainly women who have their children with them they don't want to pay for their children, the age starting point for when children have to pay is 6 years old under 6 is free. They're trying to get 10 and 11 year olds on to the bus without paying.
Here in West Yorkshire @ Transdev absolutely the same lol...That old various pocket trick in top 5 along with " oh ile just sit down and get my other card "..Actually you won't lol..Been bus driver since 1986 and like you say " we know who they are " more often than not...Cant kid a kidder 🤣🤣. Merry Christmas
When training to drive a bus I was told I'd be able to spot fare dodgers as I approach the bus stop due to their shifty nature. I thought this was a joke but in service I found this to be true. Got very accurate at this! Shame people think they are special are don't have to pay. I had people that begged at the road side all day that still paid to get on the bus, yet people wearing flashy trainers with expensive phones think they don't have to pay!
The issue is you get no support from your depot, the authorities or anyone when it comes to dealing with this. You tell them they can't travel and you open a massive can of worms and make your own life very difficult so you just have to let it go. If they would protect the driver and give them the power to tell fare dodgers no then it wouldn't happen but society is too soft for that kind of stuff at the moment.
As someone on the Autistic spectrum, it's hard enough to talk to people in the first place, especially a bus driver in their cab, which would make it hard for me to talk to a bus driver to ask him to let me get home if I lost my Oyster or contactless card. It doesn't help that in my head I'd think that the driver feels I'd trying it on to blag a free ride rather than being genuine, plus I "don't look" disabled which for those of us with hidden disabilities isn't easy as it is in day to day life.
Lol it’s ridiculous what they do to get out of £1.55!!! I’ve had at least 10 people today on my shift try to get out of paying. They always let everyone else on first as well which is straight away telling me it’s coming 🙄.
I got my pass checked surprisingly whilst doing my 63 Visual near Blackfriars Station. I am surprised that the inspectors are slowly making an appearance on the buses again.
Hi Anton, we call it pocket dancing they are checking in every pocket but most of the time they find it when they know its not going to work.. But i have been doing this job for long time now and know who is pulling the wool over my eyes
Hello Anton. My mother is a bus driver working for the HQ ARRİVA LONDON - WOOD GREEN GARRAGE DRİVİNG (29 & W3) And I am a Bus Opperator Nominee and I can say we still have them on the line and still using them. 😊
Hi anton, remember 10-11 months ago, in primark, wood green, you met a small child and his family, with your editor or whoever it is, and you gave him a card saying your youtube channel and subscribe, took pictures, but anyway thanks for saying hi to me (im that small child) thanks again!
I work for East Yorkshire and about 3 weeks the ticket machine wasn't printing the ticket so I let all the passengers on for free (with the discretion of supervisor) but as the buses goes past the depot someone with a mobile ticket machine came and asked them to pay from the depot to the Interchange which was about 1.50 and this kid said no I can't pay I said why no money or won't pay he said I have no money because my auntie just rang me to tell me the my mum had died and so I let him on the bus and gave him a special pass that allows him to travel for free for 48 hrs
Yes, a lot of people are fare dodging. I press fare evasion which logs my input on my Siemens screen in the bus cab. TFL then act on this information and send inspectors to an area with high 'fare invasion' taking place.
Stagecoach (outside of TFL area) do have a small notebook where drivers can write down if there's any unpaid fares or anything that they need to remember. I've seen two young lads trying to get away with paying a cheaper fare, asking for a child's single/return when they should actually be paying an adult fare. It's disgusting but thankfully each driver that came across this scenario, told them to either pay full fare or get off. Driver's did the right thing this way.
@@ELPaso1990TX Depends on whether there are roadworks, RTC/RTA even HGVs and vans loading/unloading on that particular road their stops are on. If that's the case then the nearest stop would be fine.
Hi double-decker Anton.another fantastic video well done and keep up the great work and my partner really enjoys watching ur videos and loves route masters 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Not a bus driver personally, but those sort of people wind me up. At the end of the day, the bus needs fuel to keep the wheels turning and a wage for the driver.
It winds up bus drivers too but there is very little you can do about it sadly. You can't leave vunerable people behind so anyone under 18, a woman when its dark, someone with a disability and plenty of disabilites cannot be seen, also people can just lie and say you were being rude and abusive etc and stitch you up so refusing travel is just not something we have the power to truly do because it can cause a giant problem for us. Then there are those who will respond by giving us a load of abuse, violence and stealing our cash tray and vandalising the bus. Its just not worth dealing with for a couple quid and management will tell drivers the same.
It happened to me daily. I almost quit over it because some young mum then took my photo and posted it on Facebook with accusations that I swore at her etc. Then it was going viral and accusations were coming left right and centre including death threats. Then someone posted my full name (because I'm not on Facebook). The worst thing was that the assistant op manager then went to her house and apologized to her 😳 wtf!!! The company got it taken off Facebook the following day but not before I got the police involved. They didn't seem to care. I was then told if someone doesn't pay let them travel, if they refuse to pay let them travel, if they are abusive let them travel, if they are in their 20's yet ask for a child's fare give them a child's fare.(on a few occasions for genuine people usually over 55yr old I done that to help them) And on 2 of the routes most wouldn't pay for their children.
Was much easier and better in the good old days with the old routemaster when the driver didn’t have to deal with fares or fare evasion. They just had to drive in their own peaceful cab and the conductor dealt with fares and passengers.
Fare evasion is constant headache for every bus driver and company all the time. You can always tell if someone is going to pull the other one and they don't realise that it effects the driver and the company after accepting a passenger that hasn't paid their fare. Plus the fares go up as a consequence of the fare evasion deficit.
Blackpool tram (and occasionally bus) conductor here. It's fairly usual for us to get 1 a day that at least tries it on but they usually just end up stuck at the next stop. We can issue unpaid fares notices but that's at our discretion and personally I never do these as people try and abuse them. If they ask for one, they just get told to get off at the next stop as that's an indication to us that they're trying to fare evade. The only times where I allow discretion is if its a mobile ticket and they show me that their mobile is actually dead by holding the power button down, or if they come and find me straight away and explain their situation to me (as well as vulnerables, distressed people as you've outlined etc). If an inspector gets on, tell them anything out of the ordinary just to cover yourself and let them deal with it.
If someone holds an English Concessionary pass from another place e.g Merseyside, what would you do? 2nd question, what would you do if the person was wearing a sunflower lanyard and from Merseyside using the tram whilst he's clearly autistic, would you come up to the person and do anything? No, because that person is LITERALLY DISABLED and is uncommunicative, that's how I fare dodge mate, tip for you in case you may see me in the future.
We were discussing this recently, and now the latest word on the buses is that we should press the unpaid fair button thingy on the iBus above our heads. Dono why ive forgotten what its calles and what number, but yh because nobody really carries the unpaid fair book
Yes Zammy. I've seen less of the booklets around this past 6 months. Maybe they are phasing them out and we have to just use the sms txt to send to our ibus for them to collate.
Great video as always Anton. You know I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome & other disabilities & I'm on a walker I have a bus pass & a sunflower lanyard. But I always give the bus driver a biscuit bar as I'm getting off the bus & I say thank you too. But like Ross said. If I see you or Chris at the terminus I'll buy you a cuppa & cake from Greggs or Costa. We even get people trying to bunk (evade) the buses in Medway (our buses have 1 door) Hope you ok & having a good weekend x😊😊
Its passengers like you that are the highlight of must drivers days, polite, grateful and supportive of what the driver is doing and we also understand how important our role is in your day to day life. Its a shame lots of passengers are rude and ignorant and some just downright awful like fare dodgers.
I uses buses every day and I get on the buses for free anywhere in England but that's because I've got a Hertfordshire freedom bus pass because I live in Hertfordshire and I use my Hertfordshire freedom bus pass anywhere on buses in England because they work anywhere in England. When I use it on London buses it doesn't work tapping because my bus pass is issued by a different English council so I just show my bus pass to the bus driver.
Your a good man I have learning disabilities and in Nottingham I was picked pocked and my buss pass was in my wallet the lovely driver helped me to train station and I got pass from train home I did pay online all bus money and Train money back in full just like say thanks for peaple like your self in this wold 🙂👌👍
Good morning anton. i rememeber them unpaid fare reports. I do not think my bus garage do unpaid fare reports. ive watched your you tube video. and i get alot of passengers that Fare Evasion. I always catch them up by giving them the eye and the look. but i keep it calm, As like we all London drivers dont want to be beating up.
I hate it when they think we can't see them the cameras can see everywhere including the back doors when I came to croydon my instructions were avoid conflict with passengers I called code blue they said press fare evasion on the SMS through to TFL
It is a very rare occasion in Sheffield, our buses only have one door, so it has hard to get away with it, it is a extremely hard thing to do because of the drivers being so eagle eyed
@@enthusiastisch1922 yes, everyone got equal treatment, have your pass ready or easy to hand or wait for the next bus. The people on the bus getting to their destination on time was more important than dealing with people who couldn't find their pass so were holding up the service or were aiming to get a free ride. Next bus was usually 5-10 minutes behind, ample time to find their pass.
@@Peoplebob Oh wow, what a sick person you are, I'm disabled myself, and I'm already getting a bus driver fired because he verbally assaulted me. It's people like you who need to be fired, there's no equality in being disabled, disabled people already get free transportation as 1, it's a right, 2, disabled people do not know the concept of money, mainly I'm referring to autistic people like me. I wear a sunflower lanyard with the words "I am autistic" to prove my disability, I can't help but get excited when I'm on a bus because I like them!
@@Peoplebob Also, just 5 minutes after posting that comment, an elderly person just fell because of the heat I ran over to help him, I bet you as a bus driver would still refuse on-board though ay?
@@enthusiastisch1922 ran over to help suggests they weren't on the bus. I'm not a first aider, nor did the incident appear to happen on the bus, so correct, they wouldn't be travelling on the bus (an ambulance would suit better) and since it didn't appear to happen on the bus, it wouldn't be my problem anyway, passengers on the bus have places to get to, elderly person passing out not on the bus, not my concern.
1. That would make boarding take forever 2. It would be expensive and unreliable 3. Fare evaders would just jump over/crawl under/push through it anyway. 4. They could just go through the back door It already exists on some European tram (I forgot which one or where it is) and its not great.
I've always have the freedom pass attached to my sunflower lanyard so it saves having messing around with finding it but there had a few times I was let on by the drivers on as there been couple of times the machine didn't read it even though the pass hadn't expired yet and other time I was waved on by another driver even though the machine is working
I've got a Freedom bus pass but my pass is issued by another English Council it is a Hertfordshire Freedom bus pass which works anywhere on buses in England it doesn't matter what English Council bus passes and Freedom passes are issued by they all work anywhere on buses in England
@@samazubuike3403 if in date you will get free travel, mines a Northamptonshire one, got a few blank stares from London drivers but they have a button for us non London folks, it works most of the time elsewhere when machines are logged although do remember outside home local authority genorosity it is 9:30-23:00 validity on weekdays,
Hi Anton how you doing ? As you may know I’ve got MS & I use a Powerchair now. Ok I know with my disability I wouldn’t have to pay but I would at least buy you & or Chris a coffee ☕️ at the terminus same with Mike also Pal. 👍
In Ireland, never heard of this, never seen anything like it.... Fake passes, people just walking on, child tickets used by adults you name it.... They'll do it
Had one today on the 192 at Bush Hill Park, he tried two Oysters, a bank card, his Mobile phone, no money or payment set up on phone, he got off, another nearby at Roman Way got really abusive and aggressive towards to female driver. Can’t repeat what he did and said, as too shocking.
@@DoubleDeckerAnton In the first case, he simply got off the bus and walked along Lincoln Road, second one, hadn’t seen that creep since, why is it that some drivers let people on when they have either lost their card or can’t pay?… As for me, I shall be retiring on the 10th February at 66, FREE TRAVEL I have two passes, a 60+ Oyster Card that runs out on the 24th, and a new Freedom Pass, both are gold dust, sure looking forward to my retirement.
@@jacksugden8190 I am registered disabled, and I lose my bus pass in a couple of days (expiry), I actually don't know how to pay because I don't know the concept of money because I'm autistic, I got on a bus recently and used my pass without scanning, next stop the bus driver came over to me and abused me, verbal and assault (He got my sunflower lanyard, 2 he called me a m*ng and said the F word), I have contacted the police and gave a police report, if the disabled person does not have a pass but wears a sunflower lanyard he is automatically free of travel because as I said, we do not know the concept of money. I have done this 8 times before and only 3 only said something, but he carried on driving like nothing happened. SO let me be clear with you, it's free if you even look a little disabled. Because everyone has the right to transportation.
Final questions, sorry for all the questions 🙈 What if the customer didn't accept the penalty fare notice what would happen then? What if they never paid the unpaid fare notice later on, can the bus company chase them?
Some of that is covered in Channel 5's "Fare Dodgers: At War With the Law". The penalty is only about £80 but they have 21 days to pay it and/or appeal it. If they don't want to accept it or give their correct details for the penalty ticket to be issued, they can be arrested by the police and it's sorted out by them. If they don't pay it, Transport for London (TFL) can take them to court for the cost of the penalty ticket, the fare they skipped out on and any other related costs (such as court costs). It's usually easier to just accept it and pay the £80 fine in the time they give than to argue it.
Its £2.50 up here in Glasgow there's one rule on my bus u ether pay the fair or I refuse to move the bus until the fair is paid or they have left the bus. I normally say to my passengers tho sorry folks the bus isn't moving till this person pays there fair n normally that sparks pear pressure on them paying the fair or leaving
Ahh I think you answered my question 😊 I typed at the question, 4 mins in to your video lol however what is the ibus, is that made up? If so, is that risky, would that person cotton on, if so what would you do then? 😊
Free travel on buses is like shoplifting. A bus is a PSV not a private car. My gran was a conductor who couldn't drive a car let alone a bus many years ago for one particular NBC operator when buses had front engines with the driver alone in the cab. She got into trouble a few times for letting a few people on free mainly scruffy nasty louts.
No it's not, shoplifting is STEALING, TRANSPORTATION IS A RIGHT TO MOVE PEOPLE FROM ONE PLACE TO THE OTHER, what a little sicko person you are! Congrats!
Another thing that I absolutely couldn't stand was people sitting at the bus stop who didn't want the bus it was especially bad when no stop request was made and you have to pull over and you open the door and ask the person hey you know you want to get the bus and they're like no just sitting here.
And you get people who stand at a bus stop where eight different buses stop and you are approaching and they stand there like a lemon looking completely not interested at all and then as you're about to pass they try and flag you down its like wtf how am I meant to know which bus you want.
As much as it is extremely frustrating for us payers, I don't think we should or try to police fare evaders for the safety of the driver... Drug addicts and morons can ruin your day. I think just drive and let the inspectors deal with these scum bags, all to save $1.20.
I prefer to walk instead of getting a bus. The reason is when I was 13 and used a bus I asked for half fare. I was entitled to half fare as only those aged 14 and over paid full fare. Every time I got on the bus when I was 13 the bus conductor started arguing with me telling me I need to pay full fare as I'm obviously over 13. I was probably quite tall. Sometimes they would stand with me the whole journey arguing with me. A friend of mine when he was 13 and tried to pay half fare had the police called on him. These traumatic experiences have led me to avoid travelling by bus my whole adult life - I'm in my 60s now. Bus staff can act in terrible ways to bus passengers, don't forget that, as I well know.
Its not worth it thats why. You start arguing with them or refusing travel it becomes a big deal you start running late you have the potential for abuse and violence and having your cash tray stolen and your bus trashed or they go and confect a sob story and go online posting a picture of you saying what an awful person you are and then you get in deep shit. Bus drivers really aren't backed up by their own depot and authorities in these instances either and its just not worth the agro for a few quid.
Hi Anton, ive been a driver in the West Midlands for 5 years now i work the Nat Ex West Mids and fare dodging around there is a nightmare everyday without fail someone gets on with a fake, out of date or just walk on the bus. We have a similar system to oyster called swift card and this works the same top up and buy your specific ticket on the bus or buy weeky and monthly tickets via the kiosk at bus stations or online. Anyway as a driver the company tells us to avoid confilict with passengers and press the Fraud/Anomaly button on our ticket machine which will build data up and give the revenue team an idea on where to board to check tickets. Very frustrating at times as before i was a driver i always paid my fare as do my family still now and i find its got worse over the last 3 years with the introductory of Mobile tickets however the company now make you scan the QR code on the screen and the machine will beep it still doesnt stop those trying to pull fast ones though. Very frustrating at times i must admit
Hahaha 😆 get in line - that made me laugh, I had drivers like that when I was at school. Also when you acted out and trying to find the ticket in your pockets - so funny 🤣
I was on national express coaches and I had some guy trying to get on my coach but at a later time so my service was 212 Heathrow and he wanted the later coach but I couldn’t let him on as there were no seats left
I don't know if this happens, but since you are a Nat Ex driver maybe you could answer this. Is the service already paid by airports which allows for some people to enter the bus, or are you guys just generous and payment isn't required, but is helpful when getting a seat?
Anton thank you for this video. This is a really good question. What if thst passenger or had a passenger and they couldn't or didn't want to pay, what would you do? Would you be able to kick him off the bus or would you have to wait until he got off on his own accord? What if the customer didn't budge or didn't accept the penalty fare notice what would happen then?
Technically, they are like shop owners, they could kick you out if you are causing trouble or refusing to pay. If you still refuse, they deploy the BTP
True story: Late night at the bus stop, waiting for bus number XXX. A young woman is also waiting for another bus (let's call it YY), which actually turns up a few mins later, before mine. I can see she is distressed as has no means to pay. It's cold and dark. I quickly sense what is happening, so I get on YY, tap my card in, the driver then lets her in, I get off instantly, she thanks me with a few kind gestures as the bus is leaving, everyone is happy. Happy days. Now, here is the interesting part: Me tapping in my card, cost me NOTHING, because I had reached my cap long before then. So the bus company DIDN'T GAIN ANYTHING money wise from that journey, anyway! So what's the difference between letting someone on the bus without paying, and accepting a passenger who tapped in and isn't charged cos the cap is reached? Answer: There is no difference! It's all a little bit hypocritical. Some bus drivers need to cool down a bit. They are drivers, not policemen. It shouldn't be down to them to police who is paying and who isn't.
As long as you have to pay you have to pay! No discussion. But I'm afraid we should consider seriously how we can make the public transport for free in the future. It's necessarry to speed public transport up and make it much and much quicker. That means no unneccesarry discussions with the drivers, drivers should focus on the road and not on the tickets for everyone's safety, we should stop maintaining an expensive oystercard system. A faster public transport means that people are encouraged to change from private cars to buses, what means more space in our city's, more space for the emergency services, more jobs for busdrivers, less polution, healthier people is less health care . It asks for a total change of mindset. In total the financial effect in health is so big that you don't have to increase taxes Not a easy thing but I'm afraid a really necessarry one.
People mainly bump train not buses because they took the routemaster buses out of circulation in mainstream london (I'm talking when it comes to east and parts of north.) With regards to bumping train, most ppl who bump are on lower incomes and tfl should let them off IMO seeing as the train fares arent like 10 years ago where it was like 1 quid I believe, its now 2.80 for a zone 1-3 embankment which is quite steep when you add it up over a monthly basis (provided u go on a return trip 5x a day ofc.) Obviously I don't condone bumping train, but if you are on lower incomes something has to be done to cater for them (whether it be discounted or free travel.) But for ppl who just bump out of stinginess I agree with your view on them being selfish, long and lengthy read ik but I just wanted to get a point across 😂😂
It's the sign of our times. And T.F.Ls Cyber attack means we have to allow people to travel, as their passes cannot be renewed, until their website is back online.💯%
People get on my bus everyday and do it , with have Tap on/off are there bank card didn’t work and first time I let the person on but second time that person got on the next day I had to refuse travel to him, as he couldn’t pay.
in jan this year .I was on a bus near kensington. It was 5 pm so dark .Cold /wet and a young school kid who was freezing came on the bus and told the driver he had lost his wallet or it had been stolen at school .And he needed to get home as it was late and too far to walk and he would not know the way home etc etc .The driver was rude and told the kid to get off . Now the Drivers are controlled by the regulations in their "RED BOOK" .And it clearly states that anyone in distress etc must be allowed to travel . The driver was informed by 3 adults that the child is legally allowed on the bus and told the kid to come on and sit down. The driver said "Ok ...Bus not moving until you all get off" . A few people told the kid to get off .They got told to shut the fuck up as this is white mans country and they should respect the laws and customs etc . And the driver was then faced with 98 % of passengers refusing to budge .he then made shit up and asked for the police to attend .They did . The female officer spoke to him in a manner you might not expect .And we all carried on the journey with the black driver looking very sheepish !! The laws are there .many bus drivers are just cunts
Hi anton its me from dalston junction 67 route fat turk yes this does happen to me as well but all i do is i explain to them is that you will receive a fine if an inspector gets on also i will not delay the service for paying customers i tell them that also i tell them that the situation is reported by the ibus system fare evasion which records were it happens most .
I work for diamond bus in West Midlands, national express is the big one, people alway try to get away with getting on with there NX daysavers, or think they can get on for less then a single fare. It is an annoying part of the job, but hay ho.
Hi my friend. I am from Ontario, Canada. I am also blind. On most bus routes in Canada, if I have what we call a CNIB Which stands for Canadian national Institute for the blind card, blind people can ride the bus for free. I mean some cities, give you a discount. But now it’s standard across-the-board to not charge a fair. Does London buses or any other bus systems that you know do this as well? Now maybe you’ve already done a video about it. But if you didn’t, do you think you could do a video of some of the safety announcements that you would hear if there are any? And also demonstrating some of the other sounds that the bus might make for those people who are blind and want to know what each of those sound mean. On the North American buses. Stop request Belle sounds a lot different than yours. Also if somebody presses the wheelchair stop request bell it dings two times. Telling the driver that the ramp will need to be lowered at the next stop as well. Something to point out. Love your channel by the way.
It depends on whether you get on a newer bus or an older one. I remember some actually reading out each stop and others were you could tell the driver which stop you wanted to get off at and they would tell you when it's yours. The disabled bell (usually at wheelchair height sounds very different to the usual next stop bell and a special light on the driver's dashboard lights up to let them know the next stop is where a disabled passenger wants to disembark. There is also an app called Wayfindr which uses audio direction prompts on a phone to tell you where to go, making it much more independent to travel on the Underground as well. Not sure about visitors to London specifically, but residents can get free bus and Tube travel by applying for a Freedom card if they have a disability. Here in the West Midlands, it's free for blind people between 9:30am and 11pm 7 days a week. I know that a card issued by the RNIB (The UK version of CNIB) is national, so I don't see why a CNIB card would be any different. If I in doubt, contact the RNIB or TFL online with the query. They will be able to tell you what is and isn't valid. If you have a carer with you, they will need to pay their own fare though. That much I do know for certain.
In all honesty, Kids between 11 - 15 are the freaking worst. You pull into a bus stop and half the kids don't have their cards? Give me a break. I mean, I've seen sometimes when the driver's running late and there's about a full class or two worth of kids at the stop they just motion their hand towards them as a sign to say "I'm late, just get on". Honest question: If 25 in 50 kids aged 11 - 15 who take the bus to school every day don't have an Oyster or are waiting for a replacement to arrive, why on earth do TFL require you to touch in on the 600 - 699 routes? It's not like they generate any profit cause their school buses and ZIP Oysters don't get charged for buses. The only one where the "no profit generation" doesn't apply is the 607 as it's not a school bus, instead one of few Limited Stop buses in London (Why's it got a 6 at the front then? Oh wait, the trollybus that ran over the same roads with the same number) It's all a bit silly really. I have a friend though, He lost his Oyster card but very recently found it, Yet, he still continues not only to dodge the fare but also just straight up LIE about his age. He's 14 and cause of his height he'll be with a friend, tell a bus driver he's 10 (or sometimes if he's feeling super cheeky, 9), and with no way to prove otherwise the drivers let him on. If only I had Instagram i'd upload a picture with some info so you can keep an eye out for him Anton. But, oh well.

@@DoubleDeckerAnton Your welcome
The thing I love mostly is the wipers squeaking on the wet windows
Why? Slow. Takes forever to get anywhere. Full of wonderful people.... I hate buses.
@@DoubleDeckerAnton fat evasion?
I’ve worked on train gate-lines in work ex before, I get so disgusted when people fare dodge!
Yes, it really annoys me too, because if they get away with it, they will try it again.
Great to see you on RUclips as well Andre. Looking forward to more coach videos.
It's sad when people play games with the drivers. It's part of the job and it does put people off, as it's a rewarding job when things are going well.
People in London want to try getting on the bus in the north of England £1.55p cheap for a bus ride so why don't they just pay it .
i used to work with the London overground and seeing the amount of people pushing the gate and not tapping their card is genuinely disgusting and fumes me
I know the feeling. The lack of respectz with no manners at all.
Yes, I agree with everything you have wrote Dominic.
The 'shifty nature', shows that they are insecure and need to 'pull a fast one' with the driver.
@@gravemind6536 So you're an authortarian then? A little fascist in disguise? get the F out of this country and move to North Korea
As someone on the Autistic spectrum, it's hard enough to talk to people in the first place, especially a bus driver in their cab, which would make it hard for me to talk to a bus driver to ask him to let me get home if I lost my Oyster or contactless card.
It doesn't help that in my head I'd think that the driver feels I'd trying it on to blag a free ride rather than being genuine, plus I "don't look" disabled which for those of us with hidden disabilities isn't easy as it is in day to day life.
have you got a ENCT card? worth popping to the local library & applying for one,
Just use a sunflower lanyard, I can't get ENCT because the b&stard government, Ireland is much better
Hi Anton Another great video pal. Keep up the great work you legend!
Lol it’s ridiculous what they do to get out of £1.55!!! I’ve had at least 10 people today on my shift try to get out of paying. They always let everyone else on first as well which is straight away telling me it’s coming 🙄.
In my area, we get so many fare evaders drivers don't bother enforcing fare payment.
Its good to use these, as it cover our backs.

It's happening quite often even on 355,and also I see more and more adults using zip oyster when they clearly look in their 40s
Yes, a lot of people are fare dodging.
I press fare evasion which logs my input on my Siemens screen in the bus cab. TFL then act on this information and send inspectors to an area with high 'fare invasion' taking place.
Your phone is waterproof, but Anton isn’t 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just get blank stares from drivers as a non Londoner with a ENCT pass that dosn't work on oyster, although the duty of care thing is very important,
if someone tried to not pay when i was driving let em get on with it told inspector if ya saw one if not then not worth the hassle
Another problem outside TFL is passengers who get off the bus several stops later than their ticket is valid. How does stagecoach deal with that?
@@ELPaso1990TX Depends on whether there are roadworks, RTC/RTA even HGVs and vans loading/unloading on that particular road their stops are on. If that's the case then the nearest stop would be fine.

Thankyou for the support James. 😊
Double decker Anton u are very welcome
the new routemaster became exit only on the middle and rear doors with the oyster card readers removed
It happens everyday down in the west midlands they even tell me on my bus that they are not paying at all
Fare evasion is constant headache for every bus driver and company all the time. You can always tell if someone is going to pull the other one and they don't realise that it effects the driver and the company after accepting a passenger that hasn't paid their fare. Plus the fares go up as a consequence of the fare evasion deficit.
It doesn't affect the company, are you deluded? Companies get millions just for overpricing people, I fare dodge by the way by acting disabled.

It's not hard, I'm a fare dodger and I can use the same buses. It's a simple act really that involves a sunflower lanyard.
So many people try to claim they have no oyster credit. Use a debit card. Not drivers problem if you don't top up.

@@enthusiastisch1922 yes, everyone got equal treatment, have your pass ready or easy to hand or wait for the next bus. Final questions, sorry for all the questions 🙈
What if the customer didn't accept the penalty fare notice what would happen then?
You're a legend for doing that. I wish the bus drivers down here in London would adopt the same stance. Good on you!
You realise you don’t get fired if you let someone on without paying
Bus staff can act in terrible ways to bus passengers, don't forget that, as I well know.
well said anton is there a way u can lock the middle doors to prevent fair evation that could be a option sir
The middle door is for passengers to exit, it makes it easier for passengers to board and deboard.

I see it all the time, people sneaking on the back door or using an oyster with no credit etc, a lot of drivers don't do anything about it.
Its not worth it thats why.

The driver is just doing his job and we should respect that.
one time i was under robbery due to lothian do cash still
It's not your fault if they just go to the back door or the 3rd door and don't tap in
As long as you have to pay you have to pay! In total the financial effect in health is so big that you don't have to increase taxes Not a easy thing but I'm afraid a really necessarry one.
this happens all the time on the 34 102 329 all day long tfl are losing so much money that maybe why tax is going up to pay for it ?
Since I last got spat at just let them on now and press sms fare evasion
I'm on the 107 3 people didn't pay. No one seems to care.
It's the sign of our times.
And T.F.Ls Cyber attack means we have to allow people to travel, as their passes cannot be renewed, until their website is back online.💯%
i let mine go into minus, its a free ride
People get on my bus everyday and do it , with have Tap on/off are there bank card didn’t work and first time I let the person on but second time that person got on the next day I had to refuse travel to him, as he couldn’t pay.
Everyday but I’m not fussed not my job
in jan this year .I was on a bus near kensington.
0:43 Open that window of yours!
is it common for inspectors to board ur bus
I work for diamond bus in West Midlands, national express is the big one, people alway try to get away with getting on with there NX daysavers, or think they can get on for less then a single fare. It is an annoying part of the job, but hay ho.
It's not the bus driver's job to check tickets or try to stop fare evaders.
Is this Jonny vegas ? lol
Round here people just don’t pay don’t pretend not to or ask for courtesy ride just hop on I’m usually in the minority that pays
Oh wait, the trollybus that ran over the same roads with the same number)
It's all a bit silly really.
Hi Anton guess what
My bus driver friends here in New Zealand let me on free I don’t need to pay
How dare those poor people try to use transport that should be free.
Lol
Don't let the fare dodgers in!
Too late, I fare dodge and get away with it.
@@enthusiastisch1922 how? Do you fight with the drivers or what?
dont give them out any more how are you supposed to do this with the screen and door sealed exactly? just let them on let on and non existent revenue sort it
