- In this week's video I show you how I used a variety of scrap fabrics to make a fun patchwork bag. The video shows you how I approached this step by step, from sorting, pressing and cutting the scraps to sewing them into blocks, hand quilting them and making them into a bag with lovely wooden handles. This bag is great for the summer but also ideal for knitting and crochet projects.
Thank you for watching.

Emma - what an absolutely lovely bag. I am sure it will become a family heirloom in many years to come. Made with lots of care and love from scraps it really is a beautiful work of art showing your sewing skills. What a lovely idea to hold your crochet yarns and hooks, easily transportable. Having some small pieces of sewing or knitting to take out with me is a favourite of mine. Thank you for sharing this with us. I really look forward to more videos from you.

I love your meditative approach to stitching Emma. I can just feel myself relax. I will help you use up your scraps if you"ll let me. Anne :)
Thanks Anne! 😊
That is such a cute bag Emma. You have such a sweet personality. Thank you for sharing your talents. Many blessings to you and your family.
Thank you so much!
What a lovely bag! Thanks for showing your process of making this. I've been sewing for 60 years and never done this type of bag. I was a bit afraid to try. You showed me how to cope with the bits i was nervous about. I can do this even though I know can only do handwork in a recliner. 😊 As to using up scraps, I swear they sit in storage and reproduce themselves! 😂
Haha they do don’t they! You can definitely do this type of bag, just sew the patches by hand, I would prefer that method but just don’t have enough time to do it that way. Thanks for watching Anne, take care 🌸
I have not a single bit of liberty fabric I’ve never seen it here in the states maybe one day I will own such lovely fabric. Bag is beautiful ❤❤❤
Thank you Debra. There are online places in the US that sell it, Morris Textiles and Duckadilly Fabrics are good ones 🌸
@@emmajonesvintagesewingbox Thank you for the advice I’m going to check them out 👍🏽
Here in TN I did see some @ Joann’s earlier this year! For what it’s worth🤔😜❤️😀

I talked about you and your video a few hours ago to my mom! So happy every time you post a new video! I ordered the same handles back in June for a crochet but they never arrived! 😂many hugs
Oh thank you! Thanks so much for watching
@@emmajonesvintagesewingbox it’s always delightful watching you
Your bag is really special and will be treat for your crochet projects.
I have a treasured liberty charm pack from a few Christmases ago and have decided to open it to make an epp kit to fill my advent calendar. The aim is a "cottage blooms" cushion front, I ordered my papers from the "sew & quilt" company. I have been making advent kits for myself mainly with scraps of special yarns or fabrics, all good fun.
Enjoy your family break.
Thankyou for a calm start to my day😊
Oh that sounds lovely Anne! What a great idea. Enjoy!
Hi Emma, another fabulous video thank you!!! Your liberty bag is gorgeous, what a lovely bag to take away with your crotchet work in. You could even use the tiny scraps of liberty fabric you cut off when making this bag to do some even smaller work like crumb quilting. I never waste anything. I love being in your company while you are creating things, as your voice is so gentle and soothing, and you always explained everything so clearly. Your videos give me the confidence to try out your wonderful projects. Many thanks, and I hope you have a wonderful time away, Diane xxx
Aww thank you ever so much Diane x

So pretty and really clear instructions. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
What a great idea ! I’ve got both scraps from sewing & some handles I bought for pennies, at the time I was going to crochet a bag & add handles but that never happened! Now this idea is so much better , I’m thinking about tweaking your idea , adding some pockets to inside for scissors & needles ! I’ve cut myself digging thru bags for scissors that’s why I need a place for them ! Great tutorial!
That's a great idea! Have fun!
