What an awesome day, you guys really deserve it you put the work in. A suggestion for the hand lines. I've heard of guys putting bungees on their hand lines to help prevent them pulling off.
Yes bungies work great on the handlines. Only thing is I run them close. If a otaru bites it and runs then comes off, that lure is coming right back in the boat. If they were run further back bungies would work perfect. 🤙
Just missed the Adventure Crew at Ryder Poke! I was on a layover and took a bus to Ryder’s Poke-only fresh which means when they run out their out. Lucky for me the door was not locked and Ryder took pity on lonely traveler once I mentioned RAH! Apparently I just missed Nick dropping a Ahi, bummer BUT Ryder made me a fresh bowl instead of catching up to open up for real, even got stuck making some more as he went for two other visitors. (The locals seemed to realize what was going on an left Ryder in peace to catch up.) Big thanks to Ryder for introducing me to real Hawaiian poke. Wish I’d been a little earlier to catch Nick but so glad Nick caught some that day or the day before so I could have a bowl!

Awesome adventure! Thank you for sharing your experience 🤙🏼 for the hand lines, do you have them sling’d on? Like rubber banned? I remember on my uncle’s boat they used the rubber tubing to keep tension and still have some give…til next time, tight lines! Keep catching, and maybe see you on the water or under the water

A little shorter gaff and auction block type gaff hook.
