The battle for the 1994-95 F.A. Carling Premiership was the most thrilling for years. It was not until the very last day of the season that Manchester United, the defending champions, and Blackburn Rovers, who last won the title in 1914, finally settled their differences.
The BBC's "Match of the Day" cameras followed the gripping struggle throughout. The early pacemakers were Newcastle United and promoted Nottingham Forest, both of whom remained unbeaten until the end of October.
But as autumn turned to winter, it became clear that the two clubs who had finished first and second the previous season, Alex Ferguson's United and Kenny Dalglish's Blackburn, were poised to fight it out right to the wire.
And so it turned out. With both managers pushing their teams to the limit, and United attempting a championship hat-trick achieved only three times before, Blackburn had to visit Dalglish's old club Liverpool in their last match, knowing that victory would make the championship theirs.
What happened on that memorable Sunday when Blackburn lost at Liverpool but still clinched their first championship for 81 years, is featured with all that went before in this BBC Video, the third in the 'RACE FOR THE TITLE' series'.
