Jason, I knew your layout was something special when I saw you first building it, it was so small compared to what it is now. And I knew it would be special because of the structures you were making for it and the care you put into the landscaping. Here's to another 5 years!

My grandson (12) always enjoys seeing what you're doing. We are over in the UK. He's just started building a 009 guage layout and has been mocking it up with cardboard. He's been posting his progress on his Dylington Model Railway channel, along with videos of our OO guage layout. He's been doing stop-motion animation on some of his videos using the layout to tell his stories, such as the Dukes of Hazzard visit Dylington video featuring a car chase through Dylington. If you get a chance, why not give it a watch, and let us know what you think. Another great video...cheers for 🙂👍

Yep, modeling what you know, even if it’s been subconsciously, makes sense. Congratulations on the layout’s fifth anniversary.

What an amazing amount of modelling you've done over the 5 yrs Jason, superb. You make some really good points about how to approach this hobby. The jumping around and building in different areas, is some of the best advice people should remember. I try to do that approach, as you said, your techniques change the more you do it, so varying your work across the layout brings it all up to the same level. That's an amazing gesture to donate your layout (in future) to the museum, very generous of you, giving the general public a chance to see your stunning work. All the best and keep up the great content. Brian

It’s a beautiful layout Jason. It genuinely looks like it could be a movie set. What would be really cool is if you had a late model steam locomotive or perhaps an old FP7A with two or three passenger coaches.

Your comments about Iowa/Illinois and the Mississippi River really hit home. Many of the scenes on my layout are based on the Mississippi River around Savanna, Illinois. Keep up the good work, I really enjoy your videos

Great video, Jason. Loved seeing/hearing your thought processes and how you're moving ahead. Really appreciate your sentiments at the end. Too many forget it's a hobby, even if you're documenting your hobby on youtube or any other public forum.

Well, I can't believe it's been five years! This is really an amazing accomplishment. I hope it can end up in the museum one day; it definitely deserves to be seen by the public. I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops in the next five years. Thanks for all you do!

Yeah, the area from the Quad Cities northward is pretty interesting along the Mississippi with all the tall bluffs along the river, the interesting layout of the towns with the steep terrain there and usually train tracks running along the water.

Congratulations on your 5 year anniversary, Jason. It's definitely an incredible layout.
Your layout is definitely museum quality. The buildings are lifelike in miniature.
I can't imagine the time and money it took to create your miniature world.
    Awesome work, Jason.

I don't mind you rambling, because your right. I like hearing some model train filosofie every now and then.
Other then you I have a set track plan. But still do hop from one project to the other on my little layout. Partly because I feel like it. But also because many things are connected and do need some thinking and planning.

Jason, great 5 year update, and what a 5 years its been, and vision for the future.
Thank you for taking me on your journey, it had been amazing, and you havbe really helped my model making, weathering, and general painting techniques soooo much.
Hopefully one day your layout will be in that museum, and it would be awesome to come and see it.
Please keep the videos coing, and cheers, stay safe, Michael

Cheers Jason for another great CLINIC. I’ve been in this wonderful hobby for many years, and what you say rings true to the way I construct a layout. I move around rather than concentrate on completing a section then starting the next phase. Most of my N Scale layouts have been made portable for exhibition purposes, but now I’m building a layout for my own satisfaction. I take a lot of inspiration from your videos and I am learning new stuff from them all the time. Thanks so much for sharing your journey, and I look forward to traveling further with you and your teachings. Cheers - Bruce

When I first started building a layout, it was "Let's see how much track I could put in an area". Over the years, and learning a LOT from you, I now focus on what I wanted to recreate. Simple track, lots of scenery and none of my buildings are glued down. On my modules, that's different, about 50 % are. But on the layout, as I find new structures (from you, FOS, BEST and others) I move them around and add new. Wish I could have met you in Greeley many years ago when we passed through (learned about you a few months afterwards).

layout. If I was faced with your size layout...!😂

Jason, The stone viaduct that you cut in half lengthwise, did you build it? Do you have a video to show your build? What is it made of? I want to build a viaduct like this but don't know where to start, so any help is appreciated. Thank you, and congratulations on five years!
