I needed to see how you put the Window Glazing in... Hope there's a video somewhere that actually shows that procedure ! Plus....where do you get new RV window glazing material ?
Thank you so much! My window is loose on RV and I have been searching for hours for how to fix it. So glad to come across your video! Awesome details and easy to understand!
Wow, that was quite a lot of work you had to do for just the one item. Great detail and meticulous in your approach Steve. I am going through your videos from the beginning, You put a lot of effort into restoring the van, and it surely shows that now.
Xplorer Steve I agree. I love watching your videos and looks like my van needed all the same stuff. I'll post my videos soon and, who knows, there might be a few shout outs to the internet celeb Xplorer Steve. Stay tuned!
Meticulous job as usual... it's always amazing to see how much thought you put into each project. I wonder how much you'd have to pay a "profesional" to replace that seal and would the work have been half the quality of your work. I enjoy watching.
Great tutorial! I’m saving up to buy replacement rubber seal for my Motorhome windows. I can only find one supplier and they charge $4.95 per foot !!!!!!! FYIs, there are at least two sizes, 1/2” and 9/16” so be sure to measure your old seal before ordering.
Xplorer Steve Another fantastic no nonsense job by you.I really love your videos mate and your Van is friggin' awesome.Keep them videos coming. Two thumbs up from me.
Thank you for your video. Can you tell me what type of outside rubber glazing/gasket you used and where to order it? I need to repair my camper trailer window outside rubber sealer and probably should replace the inside "butyl" tape as well. Thank you for your help.
I have since forgotten the name of the company. I've mentioned it quite a few times in the comment section if you care to look. You can call that company and they will send you a variety pack of samples for you to test out before ordering.
Good job Steve..if you want a job done right, most of the time it's best to do it yourself..last Thursday I changed the engine oil and filter with some expensive synthetic oil and filter..Friday I took my van to a very large Dodge dealer to have a safety inspection and a grease job..when they had finished they informed me that they had changed the oil and filter as well..needless to say, I won't be taking my van back there again.
SKPjoe Coursegold They didn't ask me to pay for their oil and filter change and told me they would reimburse me for the synthetic oil and filter ...I re-ordered and have to take them the receipt.. I'm just out a lot of time and trouble
Can I get some further information on the window glazing? The rubber on almost all my windows has shrunk and pulled away from the frame. But I can't find any info on where to get replacement rubber. Any help is appreciated!
Ramblin Michigander did you ever get the info for the glazing? If not, check out pelladent.com or pelland enterprises. Hopefully Steve took some time and helped you with this since you took the time to watch it.
Good instructional vid. Only wish you would have shown part of the install of the window glaze bead and how you used the wood piece to complete task. Working on replacing a Hehr fixed window with same seal now. Thanks.
rbangle2 Oh, I see. As far as the wood goes. my fingers and the butt of a screwdriver were too slippery to move it into place. The piece of wood just helped to get a bite on it to finesse it into place. Thanks for the comment.
I have the same thing going on with my submarine window. The previous owner smeared silicone all over it . It looks terrible. If you have leftover glazing tape and glazing I would gladly buy it from you. My Xplorer sat in a storage yard in Texas for four years before I got it. I have to replace the glazing on almost all my windows. You make it look so easy
Well done Steve.. Until now, .I had never given thought on how these type of windows were installed (or repaired). Thanks for the learning... What's next in the restoration and repairs vault?
Thanks for showing how to repair seal with the window in place. What did you use to push the rubber glazing in around the corners? You mentioned wood, but didn't elaborate.
It would be nice if you would post links to where you buy everything you use to help others out that are going to be doing what you are doing. Great video's. Love your man cave!
I wish that you has shown the installation of the glazing strip. You stated that you used soapy water on it, but I wonder if it goes in so easily. Also, what is the proper name for the gasket that goes on the outside of the window and inside the outer glazing strip. Finally, where can these glazing products be found?
I have a slide in truck camper that appears to have the same rubber window glazing. I will order some of this glazing if I can find the source that you used. Could you share that info? Thanks...
I'm just lucky n blessed I'm not living on the St n have a place to lay my head plus the rv looks pretty good for a 1987 Toyota dolphin I can't complain
Indeed, wanted to comment on your video of your fender,I have a strat, also white, and a black telecaster, that a play through a traynor amp I bought in mid 1970,s,has tubes, and being a Beatles fan a vox amplifier,so dude plug that fender and we can call you xplorer Steve Hendrix, lol.
Hi Steve! I'm working on the front window on my truck camper and am having an impossible time finding the window glazing gasket. It seems like you reference 2 different "glazing" items- the tape and the gasket. In the beginning of this vid (0:55) you show rubber window glazing. Where did you order that from and how did you figure out the right stuff to get? I've been calling RV shops all over WA and am coming up empty handed. Thanks for the vids you post!
Excellent job! ? That seam in the middle bottom - do you have it caulked? My rig has that on both side windows and I'm afraid water might get in there.
Hey Steve. - where did you get the new outside window glazing? Not the piece holding window internally, but the outside piece. My Xplorer has quite a bit of shrinkage on these. Can’t seem to find the right ones. Any advise old sage?
Does the submarine window use a different size rubber glazing seal? Mine is completely covered in silicone. I have to redo all my windows as well . Your video will come in very handy. I love your videos keep it up!
I have a couple round corners that are opening on a side window. Is it possible to remove and replace the glazing without removing the entire window? I'm sure is have caused some water to seep inside the wall. Not sure how much.
Hi Steve. NICE job on the repair! I have an older class C motorhome with the window in the front over the cab that is starting to pull away. I have it temporarily caulked (looks terrible) and want to do a thorough repair as you did. I'm having trouble finding the outside window glazing which is exactly like the ones you showed at the start of the video. WHERE did you get it??
Can you tell me where Steve's Class B Fix It And Repair Shop is located? On second thought you better not say or every class b in the country will be parked in front of your house! LOL :-)
I have a similar older camper van I wanted to fix up, and was wondering where you gain those wonderful skills and insight into what to do and how to approach each of the problems you had solved? I would like to be able to do stuff like this myself too. I love watching your videos so I can get ideas, but where in the world did you learn how to do all this? Did you watch similar videos on RUclips? Do you have books or magazines you read on car detailing and RV repair? The solar panel job was especially inspiring.
+Rednewt I have skills developed over time. Mostly I just research. RUclips is a great resource. I wish they had it when I was a kid. I would be a killer guitar player by now.
Hello Steve, Totally enjoyed your video. The glazing gasket rubber seal is just what I need. Where did you get it and any info on it would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance
Got mine on amazon or eBay. For example, if you just Google RV window glazing tape you should get several returns. You should actually know the dimensions of the tape you need though. they come in many different sizes.
Hi Steve Looks great! I was thinking that I saw another youtube camper video where they put a bead of some type of sealant around the outside of the glass after it was stuck to the van. Was that not necessary on this job?
Never mind. Bad question. I went back and looked and they took the whole frame out with the window. I believe they just ran a bead of caulk around the frame. You do great work!!
Would you be willing to share the source and part number for the rubber glazing? I need to replace that stuff on my "roof windows", just behind the cab.
Ugh. It's been a while. The name of the company is in the comment section many times as I recall. They will send you a sample pack from which you may check for fit and order. One size does not fit all. Good luck.
Hi Steve how did you find what kinda glazing bead do you need? I have two types of them one is like 1/2'' and the other is 3/4'', they don't look the same. I don't know what to order. thanks in advance.
Bare Necessities The company had measurements on their website. I just took a dial caliper and measured mine and matched them up. There are several styles to choose from. This company also has a sampler pack that they will send you so you can match up that way. www.pellandent.com/RV_Products_List.aspx?CategoryID=71
Hey Xplorer Steve I have the same problem is it the same for all the windows? I have the exact van too can you possibly send me a link where I can get it. Thanks!
Is it necessary to caulk the seam of the glazing bead? I'm getting ready to do mine. If it is necessary can you recommend a certain kind of caulk that responds well to the glazing bead?
I do not remember using caulk, just the glazing tape and then the rubber seal. Some people use butyl tape instead of the foam window glazing tape though with good or better results.
www.dkhardware.com/1-4-x-1-4-saint-gobain-norton-v2100-thermalbond-structural-glazing-spacer-tape-v210814-product-16557.html. ( pick your width) There are many products that can be used in it's place, like butyl tape which I would probably use now days because I feel it would be a better choice.
ben shafer I don't think I did. The rubber trim I got at www.pellandent.com/RV_Products_List.aspx?CategoryID=71. The glazing tape you can get from eBay or amazon.
I needed to see how you put the Window Glazing in... Hope there's a video somewhere that actually shows that procedure !

Great video, I often wondered how those windows were sealed. You did a very thorough job explaining the process.

Nice job as usual Steve. Enjoyed the video.
Great Job. And you made it look so simple.
Excellent video! Now, if I should have that problem, which sooner or later, I will, I'm confident I'll be able to fix it myself. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent job! ? That seam in the middle bottom - do you have it caulked? My rig has that on both side windows and I'm afraid water might get in there.
Informative vid! Where did you end up putting the seam for the glazing gasket?
Hey Steve. - where did you get the new outside window glazing? Not the piece holding window internally, but the outside piece. My Xplorer has quite a bit of shrinkage on these. Can’t seem to find the right ones. Any advise old sage?
