07foxmulder I still think it's their best, although they have yet to make a less than great album, IMO. I have to respectfully disagree about evacuation and grievance tho. Those are great songs to me also.
They certainly must do what they are told, to have so many, bangers, as you say. They obey, and are rewarded with fame and fortune. But never, do they show any integrity, but those days are over...so what, right?
Its sad this sing doesn't get the credit its deserved. Its definitely one of PJs best jams in my opinion and ive seen this iconic band 27 times, will be 28 on sept 30th in Dana Point 😁👍
All the photographs were peeling and colors turned to gray He stayed... in his room with memories for days He faced... an undertow of futures laid to waste Embraced... by the loss of what he could not replace There is no reason that she passed And there is no god with a plan It’s sad... and his loneliness is proof It’s sad... he could only love you It’s sad The door swings to a passing fable A fate we may delay We say... holding on...delivered in our own brace He let em as he laid in bed hoping that dreams would bring her back It’s sad... and his loneliness is proof It’s sad... he could only love you It’s sad Holding his last breath Believing... he’ll make his way But she’s not forgotten He’s haunted...he’s searching for escape If just one wish could bring her back It’s sad... and his loneliness is proof It’s sad... he will always love you It’s sad
Notice that after early 2000s he sings " he 'll always love you" instead of the orginal " he could only love you".. after his new relationship. . Just noticed, he never r sings the original lyric anymore..
I legit see no reason why this did not make Binaural. It would have fit super well. Put it around the end of the album, maybe before Parting Ways or after Of The Girl. It would have been perfect. It should have made it, this is one of the best Pearl Jam songs. Edit: was reading the comments and saw someone said they left it off the album because it sounded like a pop song (I'm assuming they're referring to pop in a sense of its literal meaning, popularity). understandable. this is the same reason they left Better Man off of Vs. I can see this song being played every 15 minutes on the radio, so yeah.
Of all of the mysteries of the universe, this is the big one: HOW did this song not make it on Binaural??? It would EASILY be the best track on the entire album. It's a god damn crime against humanity! The riff alone is a masterpiece.I guess Mr. Vedder was in one of his moods.
@@ztiberiusd Yup. One of those. Like when he firedDave A. Like when he started to play the ukulele. Like when he figured that the band should be Ed & the Pearl Jams. Those moods.

This one gets too little attention. One of the best songs for me.
And that's Sad...
fabulous music and lyrics it is one of their best songs.
but the origianl version was pretty crap. This version was awesome!
SoulerBk
Your very right
It's on greatest hits
One of Pearl jams best, and this version from the Aol sessions just flat out kicks ass !!
Matt Cameron is a beast, this version of Sad is so powerful.
Why is this song so underrated? I put this on the same level as Black.
Not even close...
@@emartine2008 close in my opinion
not this version tho
It’s really good, but let’s not go nuts.
I guess people can relate more to Black in general..
🐐 song for PJ
Still cant understand how this was on an outtakes album. Damn near perfect song.
How songs like Evacuation and Grievance were chosen over this still blows my mind. Binaural was so damn close to being perfect.
07foxmulder I still think it's their best, although they have yet to make a less than great album, IMO. I have to respectfully disagree about evacuation and grievance tho. Those are great songs to me also.
Evacuation has one of Pearl Jams greatest bridges, and they have many
@@07foxmulder Grievance is great. Rival is the weakest song on that album for me.
@@langdonalger9219 Yeah, I'm with you on that. Rival just doesn't click for me either.
I like the dogs at the start though.
Pearl jam have so many underrated bangers, it’s mental. From this to hard to imagine to deep to indifference to army reserve and I could go on.
They certainly must do what they are told, to have so many, bangers, as you say. They obey, and are rewarded with fame and fortune. But never, do they show any integrity, but those days are over...so what, right?
Years, decades, generations will pass, but Pearl Jam will be heard forever. Greetings from Argentina.
🇦🇷❤
Love riff Stone is playing!

One of the best songs from these guys,in fact. There's much Pearl Jam's true essence in this song.

There is no reason that she passed
And there is no god with a plan
It’s sad... and his loneliness is proof

The door swings to a passing fable
A fate we may delay
We say... holding on...delivered in our own brace
He let em as he laid in bed
hoping that dreams would bring her back
It’s sad... and his loneliness is proof
It’s sad... he could only love you
It’s sad
Holding his last breath
Believing... he’ll make his way
But she’s not forgotten
He’s haunted...he’s searching for escape
If just one wish could bring her back
It’s sad... and his loneliness is proof
It’s sad... he will always love you

Jeff and Matt hit hard in this one. That's one locked in rhythm section
One of the most underrated songs from these guys. Please come to Canada again! We love you up here!
Fidel_CashFlow I was at Toronto and London…great shows (I'm from Ohio). Hope to be back.
TOTALLY AGREE! It;s one of my top 5 from them and ive seen them around 30 something times, still havent heard this live yet :(
Best live version of this track. Couldn’t be better.
After my mom passed away this song became one of my favorites...
Another fantastic Pearl Jam's B-side!

Help me I can't stop to listen this song
I am a huge pearl jam fan. It is shame i discovered this song too late.
Great song
How is it possible to discover a song too late?
philip galligan they rarely play it and it is a b-side. So i missed it but I can't stop listening now
No worries. Never too late boss ;-)
Try Lost Dogs record 💪🏻
Onur Bilginer it’s always been rarely played and always been a b-side. So I still don’t see why you discovered it too late
i love this song
Wanna Hyde I know it's incredible!
best PJ song

awesome. just the kind of shit I love. wish I could watch them in studio on all their songs.
Such a great song .
Absolutely awesome song love the rythym, cheers
I looooove this song!!!!!!!!
Awesome
Had this song in 2003 before it was released. Listened to it all the way to and from Indianapolis. Dang, can't believe that was over 2 decades ago.
55 AND 6....55 PJ shows and 6 EV shows...since 1992
Christopher Socha 99 PJ, no EV unfortunately
now that's what I call a catchy riff
Tanta roba!!! Masterpiece!
Matt killing the drum kit jeezus.
GREAT !!!!
Nice!!!
ive never understood why this song isnt more popular, shouldve been a hit
If it was released as single it would be a hit for sure. That's probably why they buried it on an album of covers and B-sides.
One of the greatest rock n roll tracks of last 30 years … with si g 2 blur , ace of spades Lemmy, Ramones .. Jackie is a punk … HUGE HUGE!

Mike McCready is awesome. But Stone just carries the workload. Love ya Stone!!
this version is how it should be played every time
Is there a name for this 1:59

Muito Fera esse Som.....
Mike got ripped on the video. The whole song evolved around his guitar
Came to rock in rio, please ! Hahaha
Purposely left off Binaural because it sounded too much like a pop song. Lol. Glad they released it a few years later on Lost Dogs.
time is running out . next.
Ed came in a bit early in this take
triste
WTF? Killer song should have been on Binaural. Damn.
tema qlo buenoo
Stupid question but does anyone else notice that likes brown shirts? I have two now because of that 😘
