- Harajuku & Shibuya blanketed in white during the major snowstorm that hit Tokyo on February 8, 2014.
We wandered around Shibuya and Harajuku during the snow storm and shot some video to show you how pretty Tokyo looks after a snowfall. Many of the smaller shops in Harajuku were closed and there weren't too many people on the streets of Harajuku (especially for a Saturday). We haven't seen this few people on Takeshita Dori and Cat Street in a long time!
We also shot Hachiko, Shibuya 109, LaForet Harajuku, Kiddyland, Omotesando Hills, and other landmarks to show you what they look like covered in snow.
According to the Japanese news, this is the most snow that Tokyo has received in over 10 years (maybe longer, depending on which weather channel you watch).

This video is 10 years old but it feels like it is the modern time Tokyo. I watched this video so many times during covid and dreamt that I will visit Japan again soon. Well I finally did this February and better still it was snowing in Tokyo when I was there. Thank GOD it was a dream came true.

Snow is very rare in Tokyo, but it is indeed beautiful when it falls. Usually winter is very dry and sunny. Not particularly beautiful.
Think what it must be like in Sukayu Onsen!! Nearly 1800 cm of snow a year (Almost 700 inch for those who prefer imperial measurements.)

My first visit to the country of my dreams was in 1998, February when I had my birthday celebrated in Tokyo Shinjuku and it was snowing out the window...it was fantastic and unforgettable. I love Japan. Japan is not just another country on the map..Japan is another world.

I could cry and actually I do. I miss snow so much. Before it was always snowing like that and we had a wonderful White Christmas but now it doesn't snow any more.

Japan looks so pretty during the winter. It must have been freezing! Lol
Yes it was. Indeed pretty, but it was a pain in the ass for hundreds (maybe thousands) of people who were commuting by train that day. Trains stopped in the middle of nowhere because of the snow (in my case, for about 2 hours), plus we were freezing inside the train.
Fransisco TS Don't be a baby! Where I live it snows like that everyday for at least 4 months! Buses can be up to an hour late, and your stuck outside in -30 to -40 Celsius (sometimes colder) and I don't even live that far north in Canada.
AquariusKatrina ahaha yes I am a baby, but don't get me wrong because the country where I am from is right in the equator, where summer is all year long, temperature is around 27-31 degrees celsius, no snow at all. So, when snow was heavily falling back there in Japan, I was practically amazed and was whining like a baby :)

In the summer time it's really hot (for me anyways) usually 20-30 C. In the wintertime though, it's the complete opposite!
I definitely respect people who can live in hot and humid weather, I'm more accustomed to living in -20C which is funny since most people hate the cold.

Incredible. I was in Tokyo and Yokohama August 2014 and it was anything but a place where snow may fall.
