Great vid. It’s a pity, after spending £50k on a car, the customer has to check the car has been built correctly. You don’t need to do all these checks on a car half the price. A VW, Mazda, Peugeot, GM etc. Come on Ellon, get the Tesla staff trained, and make them responsible for the Pre Delivery Inspection. It has benefits, enhancing Teslas reputation, and giving feedback to the factories on recurring faults.
Lol wtf are you talking about. Mercedes, BMW, McLaren, Range Rovers and every other manufacturer rolls out duds from the factory all the time. The dealership will either damage something during delivery inspection or during transport. This isn't a Tesla problem, this is an industry problem.
It seems to me that it makes sense to check over any car purchase. You should certainly inspect at least as well as you would for a rental car before you drive away.
Make sure all the seatbelts work. I test drove the Model Y Performance and my wife and younger son had to stay at the dealership because two of the 3 seatbelts in the rear seats didn't actually work. My older son road shotgun and nearly shit himself every time I floored it 😅
So thank you for the video, I was unable to find any downloadable or printable checklist. I’m not sure what’s going on there, but a lot of people said they couldn’t find the checklist either. Some said they found it, but it didn’t work, so I don’t know what’s going on there, but I wasn’t able to find it. I also noticed that you didn’t look at the seals, particularly around the doors, and so when I picked up my Model 3 back in 2018, I didn’t do much of an inspection, and so by the time I discovered a loose door seal underneath on the passenger side door, it was a year or so later and of course the car was out of warranty at that point. So make sure to check all door, and window seals, front trunk and rear trunk seals to make sure that they are tucked in properly, as well as the overhead pillars, because I had one come loose as it wasn’t properly secured, but all these problems was fixed by Tesla with no real issue, however, because by the time I discovered that seal on the right side of the door, it was well out of warranty and the guy wanted to charge me $140 just to put some glue on a seal. I said you got to be kidding me, I can do that myself, and that was the end of that conversation. So here’s the thing, your car is under warranty, and so you don’t have to panic because you took delivery and got home and discovered some issues that you did not see at the service center prior to accepting the delivery of the car, and so don’t let that ruin your delivery day experience with the folks at the service center. So barring any major issues that would be obvious to a duck, minor paint chips and scratches, shouldn’t become an issue where you are rejecting taking delivery of the vehicle, as these things can be easily documented as well as fixed, and so simply document what you have discovered and use the app and make an appointment to take your car into to the service center, as those things can be taken care of and Tesla is isn’t any different than any other manufacturer of products, particular one as complicated as a motor vehicle. So you’re going to experience some issues, but again don’t let that ruin your experience with your car. These things can be taken care of and barring some major issues, take delivery of the car, and realize that the car is under warranty, and that you can get these issues fixed, as Tesla isn’t any different than any other automobile, manufacturer when it comes to these issues, and all you need to do is use the app to make an appointment, and have these issues taken care of. Congrats! Yes, you can still accept delivery if you find issues - as long as these are easy fixes and the car is drivable. I think the best approach is to make a list as you're inspecting the car and then let them know all at once when you're finished. They can then schedule a service appointment for you to get things done at a later date. They shouldn't give you a hard time! It's a big purchase, and you want to make sure you're getting your new ride in the best condition.

If issues aren't caught on delivery day, it's definitely still able to be fixed whenever you do find them! You'll just need to contact your nearest Tesla service center. I plan on trading in my 2019 honda civic sport sedan in July/ Aug this year ( currently waiting our house to close escrow by then), do you anticipate MY price increases by then ?
I would bet on it that we'll see more price increases. Tesla is selling every car then can build it seems. Even after gutting content like removing radar and adjustable passage lumbar support, they still keep flying off the lot so to speak. Add in a chance of possible tax credit, and Tesla can jack the price even more since the gov't will be making up some of the difference. It is simple supply and demand.
Old video, but I’m going through the same issue with built quality after picking up the MY today. I mentioned it to the SA and he said it became “acceptable” at Tesla for misalignment issue & I had to pay for it if I want to get I fixed. That comment ruined my whole pickup experience.
@@tesbros I couldn’t close my driver side without slamming the door. The headlights & tail lights are not flushed to the body. Some sharp edges are protruding out, which is a real hazard. Water standing on top of the plastic frunk… The car has been in my garage since the pickup. I’m afraid driving it in the rain as the water would find it way in those areas.
Are the Teslas hand made or in cheap manufacturing unit somewhere in China? Why the body panel alignment issue? Also after paying about $ 50000 doing the pre delivery inspection is going to be very overwhelming. Am ok doing this PDI had it cost just about $15000. I need my peace of mind after paying $50000!
With all the perfectionism Elon Musk is known for, I for the life of me can not believe that there are uneven gaps on the Tesla cars. Can someone shine a light on this for me please? Thanks
My understanding is it costs time and money to get rid of those gaps at the factory, which Elon and Tesla are not willing to pay for on a mass scale. So, when they get it half-right, or half-wrong rather, they only pay half the time and money in total. In other words, we are their unpaid engineers finding the gaps for them. TLDR We pay with our time and money, and Tesla doesn’t.
This is sad that a video like this exists. Tesla need to step up their game and not hand off responsibility of quality assurance to their paying customers. This is sad and makes me nervous about my order.
Hi there, I've had a Tesla since 2018 and it's improved dramatically since then. So I wouldn't worry too much although it's still good to make sure you double check your car when picking it up. Good luck with your order!

Just because no one cares enough about Acuras to make a useful inspection list doesn't mean that they will have fewer problems.
It sucks how QC is poor
Does the 2021 model come with the Nema 14-50 plug?
Unfortunately it does not. But I would double check as these things change frequently.
@@tesbros change your video then that’s very misleading and can cause trouble when people are picking up their car.
@@inMuskWeThrust we will update it in the near future. In the meantime we added a notice card.
@@inMuskWeThrust You forgot to say “please".
A car at that price point should not need a checklist.
It comes with a 14-50 plug?
Not anymore, unfortunately.
Great video, thanks so much
Glad it helped!
I plan on trading in my 2019 honda civic sport sedan in July/ Aug this year ( currently waiting our house to close escrow by then), do you anticipate MY price increases by then ?
That’s hard to say but may be possible due to increase in cost for materials.
@@wavshrdr8452 perfectly put
Old video, but I’m going through the same issue with built quality after picking up the MY today. I mentioned it to the SA and he said it became “acceptable” at Tesla for misalignment issue & I had to pay for it if I want to get I fixed. That comment ruined my whole pickup experience.
Very sorry to hear that. What was the misalignment issue if you don't mind me asking?
@@tesbros I couldn’t close my driver side without slamming the door. The headlights & tail lights are not flushed to the body. Some sharp edges are protruding out, which is a real hazard. Water standing on top of the plastic frunk… The car has been in my garage since the pickup. I’m afraid driving it in the rain as the water would find it way in those areas.
Im picking up my MYP today from Burbank and this is not what I want to hear from a recent buyer. 😒
Thanks
Excellent information thank you
Are the Teslas hand made or in cheap manufacturing unit somewhere in China? Why the body panel alignment issue?
Also after paying about $ 50000 doing the pre delivery inspection is going to be very overwhelming. Am ok doing this PDI had it cost just about $15000. I need my peace of mind after paying $50000!
Kinda sad that you pay 10-15k more for Tesla and they have these massive problems. They are minimal, but the amount is outstanding.
I love how when they played the music you can see melanie martinez
Thank you!
Super useful checklist, thanks for it
That’s what we’re here do :) please subscribe if you want more useful videos like this!
Extremely helpful checklist!
I'm going to guess the wiper hitting the hood is due to the incorrect fit of the hood on the front left.
Yes, could also the the bolt that holds the wipers in place.
I never thought I would find someone with my last name LOL. Anyways, very helpful video.
Ha! Nice to meet you, "bro"!
Very common last name in Korea though
They didn’t let me inspect the interior without having to accept the car first. >_>
The one dislike on this video is from Elon.
Fucking outrageous that the customer has to do the quality control process.
Tesla should do the checklist before delivering the car to the customer. Poor customer service, for the high price you pay. No dealership
Hopefully they do also check over their cars when they receive them. Would be interesting if anyone knows more about their process.
Their QC is horrible!! For a 60k car?! Buyers shouldn't have to worry about exterior defects. A12k Kia or Hyundai have better quality than Tesla
When you need a delivery checklist for a vehicle purchase you need to re-think the brand entirely. Unreal.
A brand new car should not have this many problems
They have gotten much better since we shot this video. But it's still best to ensure you have the best vehicle before delivery.
@@tesbros I agree. I used your checklist during my delivery. Thanks
BUY A TESLA SEEMS LIKE A LOT, ALOT OF WORK .... FUCK IT ILL WAIT TO THE KIA
Thank you!
