    Watched a video earlier about the projector from Unbox Therapy and I was so blown away and wanted to watch other reviews like this one talking about it. After I saw the price for one on Amazon I instantly said forget the 85" $4500 4K Samsung tv and definitely forget the 85" 8K Samsung tv for $9000. When you can get this projector for about $1700 and can make the screen size as big or as small as you need it to be. I want one now!! Especially for watching big movies, like Avengers: Endgame or Sonic the Hedgehog 2...or whatever. I want one! My living room has the perfect empty wall for it!!

  • @emilgeorge1234

    I have this projector and while it's really nice, I have some sore feelings about few things.
    Really terrible Remote control. This is the same cheap remote sold with cheaper nebula models. I can forgive the fact that this is not a backlit remote for night use, I can't get over the fact that it had no much tactile feelings between the buttons. So get ready to have infuriating experience while you are going to press you will fire up Google assistants. Seriously..... Please this is the most annoying factor for me.
    -The Netflix app Nebula manager installs is a mobile version which max output is 1080p. It's more advisable to use either a Chromecast 4k,or Mi box 4k, or Fire stick.
    -The projector really shines when an 4k input device is connected. It also somewhat helps to keep the temperature of the projector low
    -No options to do proper manual focus( actually there is an option but it's still not manual as it's still automatic focus with smaller increment)
    -No Boot from HDMI ( although you can do it technically, it will still Boot up entire Android then switch it to HDMI. This in fact is a missed opportunity as if the Android need no to have to get booted up for only using an HDMI input, the significant lag in the whole powering up process could have been reduced dramatically- such in few XGIMI models I have tried. Plus this could reduce internal temperature control as the processor load is very low.
    -Fan noise was an issue especially after working for a while it seem go really loud. Recently there was a firmware update which somewhat resolved the always fan being in high speed issue.
    -They could have added the Android basic controls buttons in the place it those useless Star lighting space. I have already lost the remote. Now completely relying on the app is sometimes a pain. Physical buttons in the projector itself could have solved this issue to a great extent.
    - no TOF/laser autofocus. Still relies on the old camera technology it is slow and sluggish. Since it depends on the camera technology it's also sometimes unreliable. there are many days I've had half of the screen completely in focus and the other half isn't.
    I like this projector otherwise. It's just a shame that nebula could have made it outstanding with all those crowdfunding support. Hopefully there is a V2 of this with all those changes I mentioned and many more

    The lack is lens shift and optical zoom is a deal breaker for me. I can't position it perfectly and I don't want to use keystone or digital zoom as that degrades the image. Everything else is great for the price, but the requirement to position it exactly where it has to be in 3D space to give you the image you want is just asking too much.

    Oled tv vs projector... which is better. Size does not matter. All i want is depth... the feel.. the connection.. they say oled has got more depth... they also say movies feel different on projector. So which one do ya recommend?

    • @LRN2DIY
      @LRN2DIY  3 года назад +3

      That's a tough question to answer but if size does not matter, I think OLED is best. If I could have a 150" OLED TV or a 150" projector for the same price, I'd go OLED. That said, I have a 70" OLED and a 142" projector screen and I ALWAYS prefer to watch on the projector. It's more immersive because of its size. I also have a better sound system connected to the projector (7.2) so that's a factor but there's nothing like a giant screen for our movie nights, in my opinion.

    • @peterbunderla

    • @Descalabro
      @Descalabro 3 года назад

      @@josaphcj7199 it can't be compared, really, unless the projector is used in a completely black room. Without the black room, contrast, dynamic range and black levels of the projector will not be a match to an OLED by any means. A projector will still have an impressive image, but it won't meet your criteria as you stated in your initial comment. Also, if you care about 4K resolution, none of the projectors in this video have real 4K resolution. Personally, I think 1080p is plenty, but that's another thing you need to know about these "4K" projectors if that matters to you.

      These are three very different projectors and all have different bulb technologies. The EPSON has a traditional bulb and it will burn out fastest, the Anker has an LED bulb that will last a good long time and the LG uses laser that will likely last for years and years. As for resolution, I suspect all three will be somewhat comparable, but I think the Epson will or the LG will have the best image and best contrast. I haven't been able to experience a laser projector so I can't say for sure but the technology is impressive. If you can see a side by side of the LG (or comparable laser projector) and the Epson, that would be pretty helpful. I think it'd be between those two projectors for me.

  • @mycyexpress2862
    @mycyexpress2862 3 года назад +1

    It gets down to why you want a projector. For LRN2DIY, the deciding factors were brightness, cost of ownership, streaming features built into the projector, and bells and whistles. The Epson projector he is willingly giving up has better contrast, truer colors, deeper blacks, and projects an overall sharper and cleaner image which is better for movie viewing. If that is more important to you, then the Epson is a better choice. LRN2DIY dismissed lens shift as a feature rarely used, but lens shift is ultra important if you don't want a distorted image. Lens shift moves the lens assembly whereas keystone correction digitally alters the projected image.

      You did a good choice to buy a TV. Unless you have a proper black room to use the projector in (unlike the one in the video), the TV will have an incomparably better image.

      I think it worked out for you. Did you see how awful the contrast was? Look at beginning comparison with SONY label and also how blurry the Anker was in the rest.

    Super review, the 1500 lm tho :( My BenQ 4K projector hasn't nearly all these features but it has 3000 lm and that's just always one of my main Criteria. Love this thing tho. Nxt model with 3000lm as well and i'm in! ;)

    This projector gets the job done pretty well. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxS9P8zTOcmQg-hH0QeUi3dspOLyYgQ6dH Bear in mind it's a mini projector but all things considered the picture quality is pretty good. The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.

    07:34 just look at the terrible black levels of the Anker projector... Even in a terrible room like that, it manages to produce a noticeable brightness where it should look dark. Speaking about that room, why would anyone want to install a projector in it? At least make the recess around the screen in a dark hue to minimize those reflections...

    I'll take the bulb replacement over rainbow effect any day. I'm (sadly) sensitive to it. Also, the SONY label at the beginning clearly shows the Epson has much better contrast. The Anker appears to be blurry in comparison as well, which makes sense due to the old focus tech used in the Anker. Sorry- this review seems like BS and the very beginning gave it away with the SONY label.

    Great review i thinks is not enough because I watch at least 12 hours a day because I'm always at home I got no job because of covid so this will last me few years my question some 100 or 200 dollars projector have 50k upto 100k on Amazon my question is why this expensive projector even the other brand they only have 20k hrs to 30k hrs like this one I wish they would have just like cheap 1080p projector have longer lamp life because if your spending 1500 at least it should have at least 50k upto 100k unless you don't watch a lot of tv probably i will just stick to a 200 1080p projector because I can't afford to pay 1500 every 3 yrs but I thinks your right this the best 4k projector compared to other ones you have

    Well, DLP is an automatic "no" from me. The horrible headaches I get from flashing images from DLP, and also LED lights using PWM make life absolutely miserable and painful. If they would bring down the price of 3-chip DLP into the range of home cinema, then that's a different story.

    • @Descalabro
      @Descalabro 3 года назад +1

      I agree with you, although I'm not sensitive to rainbow effect. But I think projector manufacturer's gave up 3 chip DLP for the home theater market.

    I hate the fact that ALL projectors and TVs are now 'smart'. I'm sorry, but no TV or projector is given enough power for a good 'smart' experience and having to use a phone to overcome the limitations of the bundled remote is just a cop out. I just want the same visuals these projectors have, but as a dumb system., I'll be providing ALL input signals, rip out the streaming and assistant smarts and drop the price $100 or so.

      @@LRN2DIY well- losing features was terrible when Apple bought out the AI company they used for person detection. And then more and more of their features are moving to cloud/subscription base. I actually have the doorbell on preorder but will like just sell it after it gets here. I have 4 wyz cam v2’s and the mic and speaker are terrible. And I can’t for the life of me get the RTSP firmware to flash.
      Conversely- I have 2 eufy cam 2k’s (parent company is also a let ironically) that I bought just to dork around with. They frequently go on sell for $30 - all the AI features are baked in, RTSP AND HomeKit are supported. They don’t include cloud storage but I run as cards in all of mine so I don’t really mind- I use them more as nanny cams rather than security. I actually run them thru home assistant via RTSP and let Homeassistant send them to my HomeKit devices (the native HomeKit is better but for some reason my wife and my Apple ids can not be added to the same home. We can’t figure out why- and neither can Apple - but home assistant lets me send all the devices to both phones as if). Another benefit of letting Homeassistant handle it is you lose a lot of AI features when you enable HomeKit. I (almost) get the best of both worlds. I like the company. I like the LDS guy who is one of the senior owners, I love the tiny door sensors and the (original) prices but I’m sad about all the cloud requirements and that they never opened the API to let us hook it up to home assistant or other open source home automation hubs. Dang Mils- I didn’t mean to throw ALL THAT at you. 😂

      @@chrisperrywv It's all good, Chris. Yeah, what you're saying makes sense, especially with the way you use your cameras. I'm a pretty big Wyze guy ;) I own almost all of their products and just got my Wyze Sprinkler smart controller in the mail today, actually. That said, you bring up some great points. There's a lot of competition out there and it can be tough to get all the features you're after for the price you want but it sounds like Eufy has been pretty good for you guys, which is awesome.
      As for latency on the projector, it's 60 Hz which is just fine for my needs.

The chip's physical resolution, at least in the home theater world, has become irrelevant."
