Women like this are why their adult children go "no contact". She intentionally raised a subservient, mousy type of daughter in order to continue exerting control whenever she pushed the power button.
At some point, I hope the daughter realizes she is being controlled and puts her foot down, cutting off contact if Mom refuses to respect boundaries, and finally gets some peace.

I swear I don’t know why people put up with that crap. I’d rather get married at the courthouse than have someone constantly putting me down and planning my wedding to be what they want instead of what I would want.

Kale isn't standard because most people don't like it. I do but in our family I am the only one who eats it, so it would NEVER make a wedding menu.

I do eat it at least in winter because it's one of not mamy seasonal foods then and it's very healthy. But I must say I'd never present that at a wedding because then you may have the problem of everyone blocking the toilet. It's still cabbage so it will have similar effects as other cabbage does. And not everyone is used to eating such healthy food, that can end in diarrhea, too...

Do not let mom move into your couples place after the wedding, move far away from this controlling person. If you can’t stand up for your self then leave.

Infuriating. Someone needs to tell this woman to butt out-is not her wedding, and (even if she really believes she has the best intentions) she doesn’t need to ruin her daughter’s day (and self-confidence)

When I tried my wedding dress on the sales assistant said “you have a small waist” and my mum replied “not really, she’s just got a big arse.” Thanks mum 🙄

I ordered a dress online to try on in front of my bestie (bridesmaid) and my mom. I could not trust my mom to not make hurtful comments in a traditional try-on experience. I knew if I had already spent the money (even though it was a returnable item) my mom would be less likely to go "no filter." It worked. My very honest friend loved the dress and my mom just had to pull the "i'm happy if you're happy." She's from the generation where something tight on the behind is somehow bad (kinda exposes her as an almond mom with a "fat girl" daughter--which i'm not but it doesn't matter). Sorry your mom made that comment. I bet you looked gorgeous! ull

@@Emma-se5wm I did this for my second wedding. Spoiler alert I didn’t go through with the first one. So the second time I ordered it online for the same reasons as you. But honestly I regret not just going to a shop myself for the experience. The generational trauma of being body shamed by your own mother is shit. I bet you looked gorgeous. ❤️

My mom and dad eloped so mom didn't get to plan a wedding. As my sisters and I became engaged, mom didn't push in but she made notebooks of all we chose with the costs. Myself and one sister found wedding dresses that were $150 (in the 1970s and NOT on sale). But our baby sister's was over $1000 in the 1980s. It made her happy to keep these notebooks and, on their 25th anniversary, she and dad renewed their vows so she got to have a mini wedding for herself!

Yeah sure, serve cabbage on a wedding. Everyone will need to fart but can't do it in front of all and maybe even get diarrhea from eating too healthy (if they are not used to this kind of food) so they end up blocking the toilet...

people who talk about other people's weight or looks are the most insecure people , they feel so unhappy with themselves they have to control or put down others to feel better about something

Not everyone likes kale. I do, but it doesn't have to be a staple at a wedding venue. It's one day out of a lifetime! Geez.

KALE as a standard???? Talk about a buzzkill! A wedding is a celebration, not a diet camp. And I hate the term "clean eating". I myself am not in the habit of eating dirty (??) food. That momzilla will get what she deserves if her daughter goes low contact after the wedding.

Kale is the devil’s food. Can’t stand the stuff.
I know it’s a skit, but I’ve heard enough from people to know this type of mother exists. I feel so sorry for the bride.
You’re right, if that’s her outside thoughts, the inside ones must be horrifying.

      And the gas!
Mom needs to back off. She's insulting and trying to demean everyone to have control over it. Her daughter is dealing with the constant nitpicking, but ... I was raised by a similar person and that wears on you. I moved several states away to finally develop enough of a backbone to start standing up for myself. Things are better, now, but it took years to get there.
