I'm so glad this showed up in my feed. I'm engaged and the only reason we're doing a wedding is because my fiance wants one. I'm respecting his wishes but because I'm a woman, so many people in my life are assuming that I want this event or that I'm the one mostly planning it, that some of my family members think they can just invite their random friends, etc. I have told my family members that no, 5 random extra people I've met once are not allowed, all sorts of things. We (mostly HE) just got engaged but are not having relatives pay for anything; it puts me at ease knowing there can be good planners who are not gonna tell event info to potential crashers/relatives who disrespect boundaries (even if this is just a skit).

It sounds like the couple don't even know these people! How awful and demanding that grandmother is! "I talk about them all the time." Well, yeah. You also talk about your joint pains, what you had for supper, and the latest gossip, but that's not acceptable at a wedding. either. If your friends haven't even met your grandchild, what makes you think they're welcome at the wedding? Why would your grandchild want them there? Just be a grandma and show your friends the pictures....

A bit snarky, but I might have said, "before you hang up, do you want to reserve a spot for next year's Melbourne Cup?"

I know here in the States, if it's a church ceremony, they would be allowed to attend that as churches are open to all; however, they can NOT attend the reception as that is invite only. Same goes for ceremonies held at a private venue.

Ran into an unfortunate incident in an online community where the community was inclusive to the point of being exclusive. One of my friends relayed a story where the person he had been dating surprised him with their anatomy on purpose and he hadn’t reacted well in the moment. He was immediately attacked and labeled as a transphobe even though he tried to explain that he had continued to date this person but everyone was continuing to jump down his throat so he just backed down and apologized. A week and change later they kicked him out without a single further word said about it. I support people under the umbrella, but not when they use their status to victimize themselves and bully others

I was in a wedding once where one of the brides maids intentionally lost weight and spent a fortune having her dress altered 3 or 4 times. And I think she did it to upstage the bridesmaid with hyperthyroidism. For that same wedding, I went out of my way (in sunny Tennessee) to avoid tan lines in her photos; just to arrive and have the bride hand each bridesmaid matching necklaces and earrings - my pierced ears had grown back in over a year prior. The idea of being in professional photos sets in panic about the way one will look - some obsess over looking good enough and others forget obvious things

This was sweet. Great advice. I wanted to be comfortable when we got married. My dress was fitted but with room so i could beeathe and sit. I wore.Doc Martens w roses up them. Simple make up, shadow mascara and blush. Hair down w just a section gathered in front to attach weil. It was great. We had the best time. It was fun and we celebrate 10 years next year, Valentine's Day ❤

Nothing is more beautiful than a happy bride in a properly fitted dress. I do alterations and one of the most frequent changes is changing a zip up back to lace up to allow a few extra inches because the bride ordered too small of a size. I wish so much people would realize the perfect bride is the person they and their partner love and that is not a photoshopped model in a magazine.

Yikes she was going to lose how much weight in 6 weeks? That is unhealthy and would likely come to a head at the wedding.
