      @@driftlesshermit9731 Judging by the amount of snow blown off the peak (that "white smoke"), there must have been very strong winds blowing over the summit - which means the footage was done "off climbing season". So not a chance of seeing any climbers there. I suspect the wind was also the reason why the drone did not get any closer (or maybe it did but the footage was so shaky, it was deemed unusable).

    I saw this fantastic video (however, a little messy at the end), only a few days after reading the book “The ascent of Everest” by John Hunt, the leader od the British Expedition which, on 29th May, 1953, reached the top of the highest mountain on Earth. The two men who were the first there were Edmund Hillary, a mountaneer from New Zealand, and sherpa Tensing Norgay, a native guide from Nepal. In this video, the first view of Everest ocurr at 5.07. Obviously, the drone approached from the south-west. Therefore, it didn't show the usual route followed for most expeditions, vía the Khumbu Gracier, the famous and dangerous Icefall and the slow ascent along the Western Cwm, as in this video they are behind the Nupse, the long, narrow mountain at the foreground, whose saw-like summit, like a giant iguana, runs upwards to the right (to the East) to meet the top of Lhotse, the mountain to the right. In the center, behind the summit of Nupse -in fact two miles away-, is Mount Everest. To appreciate the scale of the view, Nupse is 7,879 metres high; Lhotse is 8,511 metres and Everest, 8,848 metres. The 3 mountains together form a sort of spiral massif, separated by a giantic geographical bowl called the Western Cwm, its bottom 3.000 to 4.000 metres lower. A closer look of Lhotse and Everest can be seen from 5.17 to 6.00. The depression between the Lhopse and Everest if the famous South Col. Every expedition, from the south (Nepal) or from the north (China), have to go the the South Col, there is no alternative, to the final assault on the top. From there, mountaneers have to climb another 1,000 metres, in a winding uphill distance of a little over 2,500 metres to reach the top. To see this video, was a little bit as reading the book again and understanding it a little better... Thanks, Russians!

  • @bobjarrard

    Mr. Gupta and others who doubt,
    The drone has onboard altimeters. The wind shear over the top of any mountain is dangerous to aircraft. The line of sight was level to the peak. Therefore, it did the dead. Here is the record link at www.rusaviainsider.com/skat-uav-sets-altitude-record/ which was set at 9333 meters (about 1500' over the top of Everest). Today we call Everest's peak at 8848.9 meters (it changes from time to time and over time). I like to give credit where credit is due. Bob Jarrard PS: I am not Russian, a communist - just a plain old Okie who appreciates when folks got the grit to do what others say cannot be done!

    It was clearly higher than Everest at one point, 9:20+, and it is clear from a pilots standpoint, that it was NOT a day to fly directly over Everest. The turbulence in the mountain waver that enveloped Everest on that day quite possibly would made the Russian drone into little pieces. Strong mountain waves are not to be trifled with.

      Mallory was believed to have said he was going to place a photo of his wife at the top. When his body was discovered in 1999 they never found a photo of his wife. It's possible he never brought a photo, but it's also possible he did and left it at the summit. Irvine has never been found, nor has their camera which could contain photos of their possible summit. There's a divided opinion on if they ever did summit.

    I thought the drone was going to sweep over the actual summit so we could see the flags which climbers have planted up there. How did they stop the drone from icing over I wonder. Questions....

    Everest is very intimidating with the cloud forming on 1 side, but the other peak does not have the cloud forming on 1 side. And it is almost as high as the everest peak.

    • @jackfrost2146
      @jackfrost2146 4 года назад

      The wind was coming from left to right. This causes lower air pressure on the sheltered (right) side, causing a cloud to form.

      Thanks to you my Russian fellas. No one here realizes these images have a major engineering project behind and complain about shit.I for one never saw an airplane, drone or not, with an inverted double fin.Also the height hat plane flyes to, above 10000m I presume, with a small shitty prop is absolutely crazy.Thats what you call efficiency, then there are guys with turbine engined RC planes that dont even reach 1000m .Images are superb and you chose the best possible place to take off from, the motherfucking tengboche monastery. You guys are legends.
