    Great review! I’m playing a combo set in the “t” gap to 7 and “p” 5 & 6. Absolutely love them. Shot my best round to date a 75 with 2 three putts. Don’t even play that often, but the tungsten weights really help make them forgiving. I picked these over the 225 because they offered more forgiveness in the short irons. The 225 goes to just a blade type iron and you lose the tungsten. I also play 1/2” over, but prefer D2 in the mid/long irons and D3 in the short/wedges. No problem getting those specs with the adjustable center weight.

    I'm of 7 .. I play a high ball into greens.. recently had a fitting for 0211xcore2.. they listened to how I play my shots, as I don't take a divot, I pick the ball clean of the turf, so they altered shaft weight Ballance loft lie angle, within a few minutes I was sorted, I kid you not I had high ball in slight fade with 85% groupage.. bought a set there and then ..plus driver 0211

      Thanks Cade. Completely depends on the player and shaft set-up.
      Best way is to go try them, you'll see for yourself whether shots are peaking out at the high you want. If they don't, and you're a reasonably consistent ball striker look possibly at the slightly more lofted P.
      Hope that helps.

    I got fitted by PXG for the 0211 XCor2. I'm 46 and have arthritis (bad knees and hip) which has caused me to lose a ton of speed. For instance, a solid strike on a 7-iron has been 150 yards. The fitter put me in a A-flex, 50g Project X Cypher graphite shaft. Left to my own devices I would have never chosen that shaft. I would've went R in something steel, so I'm curious to see how this works out. This graphite shaft is A-flex, but it has a reinforced lower section so it's more stable and I can actually feel the clubface in my swing. I'm psyched to try it out. They deliver next week!

      Thanks for the feedback Jamie, really appreciate you taking the time. The 0211 XCOR2 are a progressive set. So the long irons would not be to far away from a G30, where the shorts are much approaching P790 territory.

    Have the 223s - they’re great but they get very blade like in the 8-PW. So very much of a blended set and really imho aimed a a blade player wanting forgiveness in the long irons. I can make them work don’t get me wrong just end up with some dispersion issues as the 8-PW vs 7-4 are constructed differently. Ex. My 7 will go about 175/180 and be consistent in the 170s carry range. The 8 (where the it goes to a blade style iron) I get 165 on a pure strike but really end up more in 155 territory more consistently. That 10 yard punishment it very typical of a more blade like club.
    I’m searching for more continuity and forgiveness through the bag. Looking toward the PXG T irons. My main issue is I have a decent swing speed but don’t always hit the middle. The PXG p irons would be on the radar BUT - they’re probably going to go a bit too far with the stronger lofts.
    Is my thought process accurate is looking at the PXG T irons. Was also considering the new i230 but the PXGs offered way more fitting options as well as a trial period. Thoughts???

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  Год назад +1

      Sounds like you're thinking along the right lines Jon. The PXG T and i230 are cracking options, we'd be interested to hear your feedback on the sound/feel between them as both faces are entirely supported - hence why Ping are saying 'forged like feel' about the 230's.
      We like the term 'muscle cavity' for the 223's and TM P7MC.

    • @JonMoore1
      @JonMoore1 Год назад +1

      @@todaysgolfer Ended up actually going with the PXG Gen 5 0311 - P irons. The Pings are good - but enjoyed all the options you can configure from PXG. Went P over T - simply on performance - they are basically a 1 club longer than the 223s, which is also what your data is showing. For me, the PXGs are point-and-shoot....they required much less work than the 223s did. P.S. the fitter (who was a +2 hcp) mentioned he played with P irons too...I asked him why (i.e. not the T irons or mixed set). He said "Why would I...with the Ps I don't really have to worry about getting there and can take that variable out of the equation" Not gonna lie - it almost feels like cheating with the hollow body irons....they seriously go far even when you put an absolutely terrible swing on it. You can also swing less hard which also helps you make better contact.
      The ironic thing is - the 223s actually made me a way better ball striker in a shorter amount of time b/c you saw and felt what a good swing was and more importantly was NOT. You also had to make better judgment calls b/c you were promised a distance as well as had to take punishment and not let it ruin the next hole - so helped all around with the mental side. So when I got the forgiveness out of the PXGs it made me appreciate it and more importantly how to use it to get lower scores.

    All with a 5-iron spin for what is now called a 7-iron, pathetic what the companies have done making people THINK they are hitting the ball further with a 7-iron when they are actually hitting their OLD 6 or 5-irons.....LOL
    Plus I am a highball hitter and am afraid to see what these new clubs will do when I hit them as I was looking into the PXG and Ping i525 irons. I guess I need to hit them see what my numbers are and go from there but when I hit the green I want my damn ball to stop real close to where it lands, Just like what my Adams Idea Tech V3 forged clubs do they hit and stick, or spin back a bite!!!!
    These clubs don't seem to have very sharp grooves to make the ball spin to stop, thinking that the ball coming from a high drop with little spin and hoping It stops isn't science IMO.
    I play in Kansas with lots of wind and greens get fairly hard and I want my ball to STOP!!!!!!!!!!!
