    Very informative video on the Ecoflow Delta 2. I purchased one two days ago and found this information very enlightening in verifying a positive decision to go with this company and this certain solar generator. Will later add the 2kWh addition for an all-house power setup. I also have two Jackery 300s and found them to be great for the smaller items around the house but love the newer technologies including the app to see what is going on any where and any time.

      Glad I could help and good choice. I don't have a ton of experience with the different fridge options (there are tons these days) but have been pretty happy with our big iceco, to the point that I'm considering buying the smaller one for more "road trips" vs. car camping outings.

      Good review! I need to replace my Delta 1300 and was cross shopping the Delta 2 and Pro. So I understand the logic behind your comparison! The Pro has an Anderson port, a much larger inverter, and potentially better portability if the use case with the Delta 2 requires carrying an external battery.

    I recently saw a review about NMC battery type. Basically, once it hits the 80% level after 500 cycles, the NMC battery is essentially dead. Like you, I was under impression you get another 500 cycles. However, you don’t get another 500 cycles to reach a new 80% level. If I recall correctly, you will maybe get another 50 cycles before battery is completely dead. Review included a graph that showed the 80% mark was on a very steep drop off of battery output. Anyway, just wanted to share. Thanks for your videos!

    I’d been reviewing portable generators for at least 6 months. Having medical equipment that is life sustaining was my motivation and I felt the need to hurry up and choose one. One night I found a real deal on HSN that included the four panel solar panels and a heavy duty power strip on sale for all for less than $1000. I live in a City in So. Cal. Where summer temps frequently exceed 100 for weeks testing the grid constantly. I’ve been here where it took more than 20 hours to turn on the electricity. Not very comforting with things warming up. I will get the additional battery within the next few months to be better prepared. Best to be able to rely on myself in times if real issues.

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy  Год назад

      Just make sure you have enough battery, and be aware that many of these devices aren’t necessarily “medical grade” so I wouldn’t trust my life to them without extensive testing. The solar is nice but takes a loooong time to charge in real-works conditions (see my “truth about solar”) video.

    Be careful about using random power cords with the Delta 2-not all of them can handle 1,800 watts without overheating and potentially starting a fire.

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy  4 месяца назад

      Correct. Look for the thick ones (or put on your glasses if you're me and see if you can read the tiny print on the cord) or you can limit the charging draw of the unit via the app. I generally keep the charging draw limited unless I need a fast charge to limit heat, prevent tripped breakers, and since I assume it's a bit easier on the Delta to not be running at max charge power.

    Why do the fans have to run when in pass thru mode - both the charger and inverter is not running only the switching and electronics. What's confusing is the air is hot so the batt and inverter must be running .Thanks great video

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy  3 месяца назад

      I believe the inverter is still running, since the AC isn't really "passing through," it's actually just charging the battery and the inverter is pulling from the battery, but as long as the net current from the wall is more than you're output the battery will charge a bit while keeping your device running.

    • @LowOnCash
      @LowOnCash 3 месяца назад

      Just got by Delta yesterday it makes no sense to run the inverter with losses and tax the battery when the output you need is tight there in the unit. A typical inverter like an Xantrex simply directs the shore power right thru the unit.
      I'll tell you another EF secret my wave 2 plugged into 120 v wih the battery connected does not use a power converter to run. When plugged into the battery and 120 volts, The Wave starts on the battery and runs until the battery gets to 98 % then the re-chargers it back to 100% to start the cycle all over again. The Wave 2 will not run on its 120 v when the battery is connected. The only way it will is when you disconnect the battery.
      Regards - Mike

    I was thinking about the Jackery Pro but at only 1000w inverter it will not run many small appliances where the Ecoflow Delta 2 at 1800w will run many of my appliances in a power outage. I really think Jackery should of put at least a 1400w in the 1000 Pro.

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy  Год назад

      I agree. The inverter spec of many of the smaller power banks is a handicap. The inverter in the Jackery 1500 also wouldn't handle the startup current of a typical miter saw so would be challenging at a remote worksite.

    • @cadefoster9279
      @cadefoster9279 Год назад +1

      @@TheBigHeavy I might consider the Jackery 1500Pro if it comes down in price. Its inverter is 1800w which is much much better than the 1000 pro. Now if Jackery would just create an app like Ecoflow and others have.

    Great report.
    One question I have relates to when you're charging the Delta 2 in the bed of your F150 Are you saying that you can simultaneously runn your refrigerator?

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy  8 месяцев назад +1

      Correct. Any excess power from the truck recharges the Delta 2, or conversely if the truck and provide enough power the Delta 2 will “make up” the deficit.
      For example, if the truck provides 200W of power, and the fridge is using 60W, the excess 140W go to charging the Delta 2.
      This is what makes these batteries great for solar. If the sun dips behind a cloud the battery keeps your stuff running, which storing any excess power.

    • @erickessler6094
      @erickessler6094 8 месяцев назад

      @TheBigHeavy Roger that. This sounds like a smart device!
      If I may, one more question:
      When camping, if using the Delta2 to drive a Refer or other appliances, that would normally deplete a 1KWh device... Would a 12V battery source, like our Camper 12v 230Ah battery, be able to feed exta power via that Cigarette/Solar input??? Seems easy enough to connect via that port and simultaneously charge the EcoFlow Delta2 while it's running a few appliances. Currently, our camper doesn't have an Inverter system to drive both 12v & 120v appliances.
      Cheers, Eric

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, I do exactly that when driving in our minivan, connecting the Ecoflow to the 12V cig plug in the trunk. You'd want to be careful about how much power you're pulling from the camper. If the 12V supplies 10A, then you'd be pulling 120W. Our cooler/fridge pulls ~60W when the compressor is running, but a coffee maker might pull 1500W.

    Thinking of buying one of these. Can you please do a video showing it being charged l? I’ve seen videos of the fans making a noise. Does it sound loud when charging?

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy  2 года назад +2

      It’s “average” loudness compared to other brands until it starts fast charging (from like 7% to 90%) and then it’s LOUD. I have a video of the charging that should be out shortly. It’s hard to convey fan noise in a video but it’s significantly louder when fast charging.
      The upside is you can limit charge current via the app, so if you don’t need a fast charge and the noise would be bothersome you can adjust the max power input.

    • @wxmdragonz
      @wxmdragonz 2 года назад +1

      @@TheBigHeavy Thanks. I’ll wait to see the video. I did contact ecoflow and they suggested charging at 800 but wondered if I charged at 600 if that would be silent? I’m happy to charge for double the time if it’s quiet. They are not in the UK until October so I’m busily watching reviews.

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy  2 года назад +1

      Yes, you can limit the AC input so that should reduce noise, although I'm not sure you could get 100% silent. I'm away from the unit but will try a test when I get back home. In the meantime, I've posted a charging/fan review of the 0-100 times that you might find interesting.

      I'm not familiar with the Nuwave oven, but it will run a Nespresso machine (I think I have a video on that somewhere) which pulls between 700-1900W when it's brewing (about 3 minutes). You're not going to get much runtime, maybe 35 minutes or so depending on whether the oven pulls watts the whole time or cycles on and off.

      Delta Max is about twice the size (2016 wHr vs. 1024 wHr) and will also take two expansion batteries vs. one. Connectivity is similar but there are other differences on input voltages, inverter size, etc. and obviously price. I believe the Max is also a bit older.
      I really wish Ecoflow would do a better job with naming. Calling everything some combination of Pro, Max, and 2 doesn't make it very obvious which is which!
