Sombra is a Weapon of Mass Distraction. Most of her value comes from keeping players distracted, spy checking, chasing her, or generally not doing their job because they are worried about her.

Exactly!!! When you get jumped on by Sombra, your job is to hold shield and try to bash her to proc inspire, sombra will never be able to kill you.
As Brig my first reaction against Sombra is to put up my shield, bash towards her and just flail her to death.

This right here. And even if you miss bash, your self heal will come up quick. Sombra won't be able to kill you.

As a Brig main, my favorite thing to do is bullying Sombras into switching. There is no reason to be so terrified of them as a Brig. I'm also gold, so I know this is true in low ranks. Can't speak for higher.
As Emongg said, they need to be more grouped with their team. Not only is this protection against Sombra (or other flankers), but this is how you get the most out of Inspire anyway. What he kind of touched on but less so is that they should be using natural cover WAY more. It seems counterintuitive, but probably more than half the time, I have my shield down and am using natural cover like any other hero in the roster would. This Brig was relying on their shield to protect them far too much, and therefore it was constantly getting destroyed in 3 seconds. Instead, it could have been used to bash away from Sombra (or at her if they were grouped with the team and have a chance at follow up) as soon as they heard the hacking sound. When the shield isn't up, they should be constantly swinging mace. The number of times I've accidentally hit a cloaked Sombra that way is high. Whenever she is too close, you whack her until you can't whack no more. If she doesn't die, you whip shot her and shield bash away to wherever's safest to recover. Lather, rinse, repeat.
All this takes a good reaction time, which this Brig also needs to work on, but I feel that comes with time.
As a Sombra main, this is 100% accurate. These are the types of Brigs that tempt me to swap.
I think it definitely also takes some time to get into Brig. I never play her and the other day in a QP match picked her just for fun and I played much like this Brig here in the vid. They looked kind of helpless to me, like they weren't really comfortable with the hero's playstyle. So that makes me think they probably need to play her some more to get used to her more so they'll be more effective.
@@123Suffering456 That is absolutely true as well. Her playstyle is a lot different compared to other supports especially, so it takes adjustment.
100% this. The shields main value is blocking abilities (Sombra Virus and hack for example) and bashing. You can stop a Phara rocket in a pinch, but ideally you would just be in a better position
You're on Brig and you can't bully diver like Tracer, Sombra and even a Lucio that's a red flag. It should be the norm 😂

So pretty much this support just keeps getting into position for the sombra to just keep getting them and don't know how to play brig against Sombra properly. Hint: do not just face tank the virus

It almost feels, to me, like they played with/against this Sombra before and knew they were gonna get constantly dove by her. I've had matches like that and its pure psychological warfare on the Sombra's part if that IS the case

local support player develops schizophrenia after single sombra encounter
Im finding it to be super common in comp games and sometimes quickplay as well(if the other team is defending, especially) lately to see a sombra. The other dps rotates between torb, mei, symmetra, tracer, and widow usually. Once in a rare while, echo or someone different but usually those heroes.
Also, they often hard focus the supports, and most of the time, my tanks and dps are often oblivious to them even after repeated pings, their voice lines clearly being heard, etc. Usually, i just get uh, why arent you healing? I respond with being constantly harassed by their dps, so I'm trying to just survive, and often, i just get an "oh..."silence even. 😂
As a brig main, i do okay, but it's very frustrating and annoying and aggravating to play against most of the time. I cant ignore since they might kill me if i dont focus them but at the same time it just sucks the fun out of the game playing mainly as a support.
Question: Does your Comp rank affect what elo you play in QP? And if you don't play Comp, are you always stuck in the same "elo" in QP?
theres hidden mmr in qp, it uses the same one as comp. Matchmaking in qp uses a looser algorithm, so there can be a lot more variety in ranks
I don't know if anyone said it since I'm only at the 8 minute mark but If you see this Sora your shield blocks hacks so if you're quick enough you can prevent it from happening. It'll give you more time to group up with your team or make a play.
my friend plays ashe/hanzo and always gets so mad when sombras pick him out from deep in the back lines. i’ve told him a lot that he just needs to play up more with the team but then he says he’s out of position. can be so frustrating lol he just doesn’t get it
Those are the kinds of players who think they're carrying the game when they're doing well. And simultaneously think the entire team should protect them when they're playing bad.

I’d recommend upping the sensitivity. Reacting to a sombra quicker can stop the hack on you and your teammates.
Edit: I think it will take time to build these skills. The Kiri kept aiming heals at the floor (I’m assuming waiting to cleanse to come back). Just keep playing and (try to) have fun!

It’s tough to admit but sometimes we hit our ceiling in a game, which makes it more a chore than a fun pass time. Alas, I’ve been hard stuck at Diamond-1 since Overwatch 1 and continued this trend into Overwatch 2. Today I finally made the decision to uninstall the game and move on. This game was no longer any fun and rather than enjoy my free time playing a game I enjoyed, I found myself going on a 2-hour losing streak. Sometimes, we are just mid and need to uninstall and be happier for it.
My hot take is that he isn't aggressive enough when he should be aggressive and wants to be aggressive when he shouldn't
I think the main issue is by focusing so much on the Sombra, they actively gave Sombra more value. Consistently taking one Support out of the fight, whether by killing them or attention-wise, is not going to go well for the team. Honestly that Sombra is probably the MVP of the enemy team there for that, lol.
As a Moira + Sombra enjoyer, I eat Sombra alive with the Moira pick. Once you swapped off Moira you made things harder for yourself. Add in the split playstyle it was gonna be a rough one. Stacking with team can help and making sure you aren't in a vulnerable position for the Sombra to pounce and she may get so little value she swaps characters or starts to hack tank instead. Nice video as always 👍
player decided that sombra was after them instead of understanding that sombra was going after whoever was isolated and easy to pick. Never needed to swap off moira. Could have just kept fade in reserve and played with the team.
Ive gotten to gold from really low bronze with my tank wish me luck on my road to gold in DMG.

One thing id learned is every support must learn is dealing with Sombra and Tracer, if you can learn how to deal with them you could be a bit better support

man, console just feels so slow 😭 could never imagine playing it. everything is so robotic
the sombra probably went for them because it was pretty clear they're an easy elim and therefore pretty much an automatic leg up for THEIR team. They kept trying to go solo the sombra and running away from the potential help of their team. as a sombra main -- that is exactly what I also go for in the priority system. Weakest link/straggler > some other healer/widowmaker > most threatening dps > help with tank fight.

Did the Sombra even attack them a lot? I thought the Sombra was very tame. When I play against a Sombra, they attack me far more frequently than this.

Didn't know this. Interesting. Usually I find most virus and just shoot now so feels like often not much time to react so I try to use cover since it's a 50 50 if my team decides to listen/or assist lol. 😂
I gotta say I see exactly the same from Plat Brig players, I play Tracer and Brig is literally the support I'm the least afraid of because I can take them off the fight by just existing (also brig has never been easier to duel as tracer)
I’m gonna need that aim smoothing slightly down and sensitivity slightly up. That turn speed is way too slow, I played ow1 on console, default settings don’t match the pace of the game.

They weren't keeping track of suzu's cooldown and kept looking down to cleanse at their feet while holding heal (or they have their settings to use the whole heal still) and just kept mashing E but it didn't do anything because they throw suzu as a first response to any problem lol. (I know the panic look at the floor well lol)
@@wingnutmcmoomoo494exactly this. Sometimes I use suzu for something either to cleanse or just to simply keep my teammate up and it’s so second nature that I forgot I even used it. So then when I want to use it selfishly I’m just spamming E at the floor. I do this with Moira too when I want to throw a healing orb for myself and it’s on cooldown and I’m just spraying pee clouds at the floor 😢

I’m a silver player and play Lifeweaver but when Tracer/Sombra/Genji start making my life hell, I usually swap to Moira. Brig felt like a weird choice.
When I play Sombra, I usually find someone I can take out easily and make their life miserable. I would have spawn camped this Brig till they just left the game, lol.

When my laptop broke and I had to play on console in 2019 I became a full Sombra main. Most of the time people’s sens is so low they cant turn around in time before they are dead lololol. I know people who learned how to mitigate that with sens and settings changes.
I mean the sombra since the beginning realized that the moira/brig couldn't really do anything against them and no one was helping so I assume that's why they kept going for the brig. At least that's what my thought progress usually is. If you notice you can shut down one of the enemies easily why not do it?

I literally played the against the same sombra in a diff game as kiri and got tired of arguing with everyone to group up and she hunted me the whole time. That player was a menace with my team not listening and watching my pings... I started at Gold 3 and have just slowly ranked down and although I have terrible games grouping is like non existent in low rank lobbies unless it's five mics on.

@@ItzJuanG nah, nothing fun about her, not fun to play, not fun to play against, not fun to play with as a teammate, she’s the go to hero for people who can’t get any value from any other hero, if you main her that’s fine but most people just use her as a last resort bc she gets free value just by existing in any rank of platinum or below
@@danielburdisso1483 Sombra takes more skill to play than a lot of people give credit for. You don't get value by simply existing. You get value by distraction and the threat of a kill. In order to do this properly, you need to have good awareness of what is happening in the game (both your team and the enemy team) in order to get the right timing on your engagements as well as having an escape route at all times. A lot of Sombra's value goes away when the team is grouped up because she thrives on opportunism and enemy positional mistakes. Doing all of this while having high up time is quite challenging and is what drew me to main Sombra in the first place. It's not for everyone, but I just genuinely find her play style fun.
Edit: Obviously there is more to playing Sombra well than this, but you get the idea. Just some thoughts from a qp warrior lol

If they can work on their reaction timing they'd be a lot better. It looks to me like their reaction to anything happening is like a whole 1-2 seconds delayed in the moment. So, work on awareness and reacting and they will be so much better already. Also, less healing the floor.

So when I noticed a Sombria absolutely bullying me as Ash, I switch to Tracer because Tracer is my main. I feel like Tracer is a good counter to Sombria. When I go to Tracer I absolutely destroy Sombria Everytime
