I will say that they can give a masterclass in building ambiance. Stalker two can beat genuinely terrifying and I feel like my adrenal system has been completely drained after only a few hours of playing.
Steam reviews should be also taken with a grain of salt especially with this game. There are hardcore series fans (especially from UA) who underplay the issues this game has. While understandable (comparing to 2007 this is like flawless release) - that is a thing to consider though. And there are RU bots who get paid 2$ if they left a bad review. These are two extremes, but just to keep this in mind. IMO - there is tone of streamers playing this game in every way possible generating hundreds of hours of raw unedited gameplay, so this is the best way to decide if the game for you or not (granted you have sufficient PC to play it).
Metacritic did the same thing to the original stalker in 2007 if I remember correctly. I completely ignore that scoring system anyway and rely on steam reviews/own judgement.
This is my GOTY, but I understand that a lot of people will not like it. I've been a fan of these Series, it's a cult classic in Eastern Europe for a reason, but plenty of ppl won't like it and that is fine. It understands what it is, doesn't try to be something else to satisfy audiences. The biggest issue is A-Life (The AI system), which the devs confirmed isn't working correctly. You will notice a lot of the firefights will be very CQB, ambush style, because it is just not functioning correctly. These NPC's are supposed to populate the world, have patrol routes etc, but yeah the Devs already confirmed they are addressing it in a patch, and hats off to them, they've even been active on the sub. EDIT: The fast travel stuff(Not being as available) is supposed to work with the Dynamic AI system that is currently scheduled to get patched. The decision makes a lot more sense once the patrols of enemies traveling and hunting you start working properly :D
fastravel it is in the game, but only between the main hubs, there are guides that you can pay, but there are also anomalies that teleport you, try the one in Rostok under the 100 rads bar
I think there's a lack of balance between quest rewards, repair cost, ammo cost, travel distance between techs who can repair, etc...but nothing that can't be easily fixed. Also about those anomalies, there a a few in some places but it's very rare, or linked to a quest, or very local, I don't know if we can talk about fast travel. Where is the one in rostok exctly ? I need to check this one

For sure amazing game so far, sucks to see games like this getting bad scores from people with low standards for games tbh. I never picked up Dragon Age as it just didn't look good for me.
I'm at 22 hours and I've only had 2 times when fps dropped for no reason and I had to restart the game. Other than that, I had a crash related to HDR, and it wouldn't let me play with it on so I turned it off in Windows and the game booted as normal.
The guides are the fast travel feature. But it's expensive and rethreading ground and exploring on your way back is lucrative and fun, picking up stashes and looking for artifacts.

@@SHwoKing huh? flee? no, you are not supposed to flee, It's an option, but not designed to be like this... the original games are nothing like this in relation to mutants sponges.. if you have the guns, you are able to kill everything
Well I have to disagree here. I saw so many clips of people dumping mags in a tentacle guy why it is in camo. He is much more vulnerable while visible. Try to spot him when he charges, dodge the attack and then give him couple of shotgun shells. There are som videos with tips around. Won't heart to get some stopping power upgrades on the shotgun also. IMO it is strange they let them loose so early in game. The monster itself is fine IMO, it just needs to appear a bit later, when player is a little more geared up.
I honestly wasn't interested, however seeing how majority of people are liking the game despite the bugs, and that sold in 2 days 1 million copies. Maybe I should give a try.
To be fair, that wasn't 1 million in 2 days, you could preorder 2 years ago since it was originally planned to release in 2022 but corona before, war after ...
Try it. If you don’t like it get a refund (if you have a pc I don’t know how it works on console) never played a stalker game before. It’s just slightly like fallout but it’s so much more challenging I’ve been wanting a game that forces me to take my time or I’ll get lit up lol.

Im reallllyyyy hoping they can bring A-Life to its former glory. I'm enjoying the game lots as it is..but it would be game of the decade with A-Life back
No its quite fair. I love the game and have 50 hours in it but its completely dead outside of some, not even all, but some POIs. A-life is seriously missed in this game versus the older games or especially mods like EFP and Gamma. Tons and tons of graphical glitches with constant z fighting and texture/shaders issues and tons of pop in with all my settings on epic. This game is amazing to me but it needs a lot of work. Here is to hoping for a Cyberpunk redemption ark.
@@Tastymond I have tons of loot on veteran. Stacks of meds, radiation meds, Ammo. It’s sort of disappointing. I have to regularly drop supplies to avoid being over encumbered.
That's funny because I grabbed New Vegas after playing Call of Pripyat years ago, and wanting more of the same. Obviously was a lot more cartoony which was a put off at first but I ended up really enjoying it. That was back when Bethesda could do no wrong, so everyone swore blind that Fallout 3 was so much better than New Vegas and you would be slaughtered for saying otherwise. How times have changed.
This might he a hot take, but without A-Life correctly implemented, the game feels more like metro or fallout... don't get me wrong, its different and better, but A-Life is what really seperates stalker from the rest. If it isnt fixed too well...ill make myself do snother playthrough for sure. If it is? Ill do 10 more
@Tastymond Usually Fantasy RPGs. I have played some postapocalyptic games like Dying Light 2 and Metro Exodus and i liked them more. Better stories and more likeable characters, imo.
The game has potential BUT relying on DLSS, FG, FSR. That was enough for me not to buy it. + the performance issue to. for me, it went from a 40$ game to a 5$ because of that. It will ONLY be bought with a heavly discount. Let us teach the devs. NOT to do this in the future.
Every game needs DLSS now that's the issue with DLSS unfortunately, it shouldn't have happened IMO. It's actually really good though so unfortunate for you, I would rather support this than AAA movies tbh.
Metacritics score is easy to understand. There are no political messages converning misgendering someone with a mental disorder. Plain and simple. I live in the sticks with crap internet. My download is almost done. Been running for 3 days. Lol. Cheers mate.
No one gives an actual shit about the woke game journalists...I have more than 30h and I'm in love yeah of course it has bugs here and there but nowhere close to what they say that is full of bugs.
I've seen messages screenshots of russians proposing to add negative reviews to Stalker 2 for 100 rubels. (They are unhappy from some ukrainian songs in game and removed russian voicing)
I disagree with you. In fact, I feel that 74 is too high of a score for it with its current bugs and broken features. The stick drift(no dead zone) on the Xbox systems is ridiculous. I could go on and on about further bugs and broken features (A-life) but I'm sure you all are already aware of them. Once this game gets fixed (if that happens) we can re-visit the low scores.
I’m not surprised Metacritic gave this game a low score. These guys don’t care about games and they don’t care about what’s best for gamers, they only care about pushing agendas, controlling the narrative and getting money. The only reviews to be trusted are from the players/users, metacritic along with any other reviews are irrelevant as IGN and I never click on their reviews or videos.
@ Oh god yes, Geoff Keighley trying to trademark the words (game awards) is crazy also some comments he made saying that gamers should learn something when playing video games. In other words instead of games being fun they’re programming people. and the nominations is abysmal. Dragon Age Velgaurd should be a crime because the dialogue is mental torture. Yet somehow it is a contender, but Hogwarts Legacy was completely forgotten and some other great games people liked. Just about a year or two ago was the first time I actually skipped out on watching gamescom and even skipped though it at times, because i had no interest in what they were showing. I won’t be watching the game awards wasting my time at all and probably never will from here onwards.
It's worse than the metacritic score, are we even 'playing' the same game? 1 hour in, crashing consistently 30 seconds after loading into the game. Top of the line 7800x3D with 7900xt, updated drivers, different saves, every graphics and video option, etc, etc, and etc. The game just doesn't work, its rushed and untested. No suprise after the devs tried to put NFTs in their game.
The game could be sooo good but it feels way to easy with the ai and the spawning it brain dead and takes me out of it but with the ai is fixed gonna be euphoric fr
Strange thing is that ocasionally AI gives out a good behavior in gunfight. NPCs lean, and juke, and dodge, they spring in close and hit you... but that happens soooo rarely. A-life and AI should be fixed (and they will, patches or mods gonna get this right). But in general, NPC lack in reactivity. I can brush off that only the "veterans" can perform this kind of stuff and the zone is full of rookies who don't know what they are doing so here we are... but that is jut pure coping. Works for me, though )
@@Tastymond the a.i is supposed patrol areas naturally and interact with other npcs... instead of spawning in 20 meters from you. theres so much more but you get the point. if you're a fan of far cry and dont mind lifeless open worlds then i understand why you wouldnt notice

Rightfully the scores where down, many feared of even being able to run it and missing gameplay elements + bugs did the rest. Iam pretty happy with the game, it runs good at 1440p 60FPS on both my laptops ( 3080ti/ 4070). But I had to get about 20 mods from Nexus to fix balancing and performance issues. I dont understand how they could release a Stalker game that spawns enemies right in front of your eyes, some mod fixes this for me, but a proper " A- Life" needs to happen...
This is a 6/10 game in the current state at most. Even ignoring the balant technical issues , the whole AI system is broken. Respawns are far cry 2 level atrocious where you can look away and it will spawn everything right next to you.

They aren't unless you are talking about Bloodsucker. But you aren't suppose to fight them, just flee.
Are you on veteran mode?
@@SHwoKing huh? flee? no, you are not supposed to flee, It's an option, but not designed to be like this... the original games are nothing like this in relation to mutants sponges.. if you have the guns, you are able to kill everything
Classic Stalker comment 😂
Well I have to disagree here. I saw so many clips of people dumping mags in a tentacle guy why it is in camo. He is much more vulnerable while visible. Try to spot him when he charges, dodge the attack and then give him couple of shotgun shells. There are som videos with tips around. Won't heart to get some stopping power upgrades on the shotgun also. IMO it is strange they let them loose so early in game. The monster itself is fine IMO, it just needs to appear a bit later, when player is a little more geared up.
There are these things called guides those are your fast travels to different town.
Yeah I know now, still don't have the money to use.
I honestly wasn't interested, however seeing how majority of people are liking the game despite the bugs, and that sold in 2 days 1 million copies. Maybe I should give a try.
Up to you Mich mate it's deffo been fun for me, a shame you don't have gamepass to try it man.
@@ArgelTal_ Still good though.
@@BrianSkinny-n5f So far I prefer over Fallout 4.
Every single one of the stalker games is a flawed masterpiece. Made perfect with mods and this one will be as well
So far I like it a ton.
Played 10h so far and i love it , hab no bugs and Performance is good on my pc
Spawning Enemys are a bit anoying and repair Costs too high these are my only 2 negatives
Dude yeah so good so far but those repairs kicking my ass that I cant afford, armour so hard to repair that I just have to replace.
I do enjoy fallout tasty so maybe i will pick this up as it seems cheap to me
Ah nice one dude, I thought you would still be on WoW but this is deffo worth checking mate.
Nice late RUclips video here tasty also thank you for this late RUclips tasty

Im reallllyyyy hoping they can bring A-Life to its former glory. I'm enjoying the game lots as it is..but it would be game of the decade with A-Life back
What is that?
No its quite fair. I love the game and have 50 hours in it but its completely dead outside of some, not even all, but some POIs. A-life is seriously missed in this game versus the older games or especially mods like EFP and Gamma.
Tons and tons of graphical glitches with constant z fighting and texture/shaders issues and tons of pop in with all my settings on epic. This game is amazing to me but it needs a lot of work. Here is to hoping for a Cyberpunk redemption ark.
I'm really liking the game, considering what they give 9/10's these days yes I still think it's very unfair.
Playing on Veteran because of too much loot, I love it.
Bro I'm thinking of upping it to veteran too because I'm getting too much, worth it?
@@Tastymond I have tons of loot on veteran. Stacks of meds, radiation meds, Ammo. It’s sort of disappointing. I have to regularly drop supplies to avoid being over encumbered.
@@Cody-eo1hr Yeah so still just the same issue I guess huh.
Towns have a guide you can pay to fast travel
Just found this out.
New Vegas was a highlight of this year for me, had such a good time.
Whats funny is that theres people wich actually cares about what the idiots at metacritic say
There is yeah and it's hurting games so much now man.
This might he a hot take, but without A-Life correctly implemented, the game feels more like metro or fallout... don't get me wrong, its different and better, but A-Life is what really seperates stalker from the rest. If it isnt fixed too well...ill make myself do snother playthrough for sure. If it is? Ill do 10 more
They said a fix will sort this A Life but I'm not sure what it is, AI has been good for me.
Very poor performance and boring story and gameplay. I guess you need to be a die hard fan of stalker to like this game.
I don't think you do, what games do you usually play? really curious.
@Tastymond Usually Fantasy RPGs. I have played some postapocalyptic games like Dying Light 2 and Metro Exodus and i liked them more. Better stories and more likeable characters, imo.
@@TheHooy Games like Persona and that yeah?
@@Tastymond More like BG3, DOS 2, Dragon's Dogma, Gothic, Witcher
@@TheHooy DOS 2 so good.
It plays the same as new Vegas as in from the same decade
True lol, New Vegas still OP though.
Its not really post apocalyptic though, outside the Zone is the normal world still going on.
So they say lol.
I like the game
Me too.
Mainstream acknowledged reviewers do not represent gamers or their tastes anymore. Follow your gut and only trust your own opinions.
Yeah for sure.
Stalker 2 is a real stalker game while fallout 4 is barely a fallout game
True, you like Vegas?
Damn 3 days for download sucks.
Love this game
No one gives an actual shit about the woke game journalists...I have more than 30h and I'm in love yeah of course it has bugs here and there but nowhere close to what they say that is full of bugs.
Maybe they didn't get paid for this one huh.
@@Tastymond hmm didn't think about that and still a lot of people bought this game
I've seen messages screenshots of russians proposing to add negative reviews to Stalker 2 for 100 rubels.
(They are unhappy from some ukrainian songs in game and removed russian voicing)
Damn I didn't realise they were doing this.
Like I said I have not had any game breaking bugs yet so we can only speak for ourselves.
my personal GOTY
Yeah dude.
@@Tastymond Its that good! and in the future it will be even more amazing with the mods and expansions. a instant classic for sure :))
Unfinished and no A-Life. Score should be even lower.
What is this A Life? is it just AI?
I’m not surprised Metacritic gave this game a low score. These guys don’t care about games and they don’t care about what’s best for gamers, they only care about pushing agendas, controlling the narrative and getting money. The only reviews to be trusted are from the players/users, metacritic along with any other reviews are irrelevant as IGN and I never click on their reviews or videos.
I don't think a lot of these places care for gamers either, just look at game awards right now.
Clearly we not playing the same game then.
I love this game. The game media is full of sh#@t.
They are these days for the most part, I miss the magazine days.
The game could be sooo good but it feels way to easy with the ai and the spawning it brain dead and takes me out of it but with the ai is fixed gonna be euphoric fr
I haven't had any AI huge problems yet.
Works for me, though )
no A Life. the score is fair.
A life works for a lot of people.
@Tastymond you're lying. you don't even know what a life is lol
@@feelsgoodman420 I actually don't lol but I assume it's good AI and I haven't had a problem with it yet.
@@Tastymond the a.i is supposed patrol areas naturally and interact with other npcs... instead of spawning in 20 meters from you. theres so much more but you get the point. if you're a fan of far cry and dont mind lifeless open worlds then i understand why you wouldnt notice
@@feelsgoodman420 I don't even play Far Cry bro... You just assuming or something? I have said already the AI has been great for me.
Id say its pretty fair considering it runs like crap plays like crap bugs every step you take broken quest lines broken economy you earn nothing and pay 20k plus for reapirs.
What games do think play good? You got a decent PC? some guy compained earlier who had a 1060 and I was like...
oh well guess all of those million copies prefer a game of that score... F the score crap... its word of mouth that gets people into it none of that crappy marketing woke nonsence
AI is broken, not worth playing. Just like all games that come out these days.
Better than most games these days by a mile I would say, just look at the trash this year.
score was nerfed by russian bots
Until Alife is implemented, i think 7/10 is a fair score
I have not witnessed much AI bugs yet to be honest.
The game is a stuttering mess.
Wierd texture glitches and bad pop in. Needed more time. Just my opinion, having put in 30 hours.
You got a decent PC? game runs fine for myself.
It really isn’t. Average at best.
What kind of games do you consider better than average? would love to know.
GSC shot themselfs in the foot by giving out crappy copies that where missing the first 200GBts of patches.
Does that happen? not sure if I have seen it.
This is a 6/10 game in the current state at most. Even ignoring the balant technical issues , the whole AI system is broken. Respawns are far cry 2 level atrocious where you can look away and it will spawn everything right next to you.
See I have not seen that bad AI yet tbh.
no its not
It's pretty good, not sure why you dismissing it so quickly.
@Tastymond I can tell you've never played a stalker game before, game is missing the A life system which gives the game world life, feels like a neutered stalker game with out it, THAT is why the game is a 7
