    Ever since making the Aust Open final Zheng has been getting stronger & stronger. Watching her defeat Iga Swatiek & eventually winning Gold at Paris Olympics showed how much she has improved her game both physically & mentally.

    Amazing match. Donna Vekic played well and the match was much closer than the Olympics final. But Quiwen is a different player now. So much confidence and knows how to handle a tight situation. Congrats to Qinwen and her team led by Pere Riba. Hope her team will guide her to tennis glory (already guided her to the Olympic glory. And to her parents who always gave her the best coaches since she was a child at 10 years.

      @@Eduardo-m2i Tennis is an individual sport. But many do not know the importance of the team behind her. Her mental strength was carefully trained by her team. For todays match, one small slip in her mental strength would have cause a loss. And the improvement of her serve is critical. It was closer than we think.

      Her parents sacrificed a LOT to give Qin Wen this chance to shine, and she's shining. I think I heard that her parents put up their home in order to get a loan so that she could go overseas and train with the best. I don't know how much money Qin Wen has won so far, but for getting into the quarterfinals (final 8) of the U.S. Open, she wins a purse of $530,000. One more win and she will have $1 million. I don't want to say that this money is more important than the glory she has brought to her nation, but $1 million USD would be about 7.1 million RMB, so that would be quite a bit more than the approximately 1.2 million RMB that Qin Wen got for winning Olympic gold. Qin Wen has been smiling a lot, for a lot of reasons. But the money she has just won in the last month alone (about 4.7 million RMB) has removed a lot of financial worries.

    • @wahlokng5646
      @wahlokng5646 3 месяца назад +6

      @@Ironfangzu Yes. I read a lot about her parents sacrifices for her. And they could see she could win a Grand Slam when she was just 10 years old. And gave her all the Grand Slam champion coaches like Carlos Rodigrez, Fissette, Pere Riba...They could see something in their child so they were willing to make the sacrifices. I am sure all of the finances have come back and even more will come from the endorsements. I heard President Xi mentioned her by name at the China Olympic celebrations. So she has really brought honor to her nation and to her parents. So her father has kept her Olympic goal. She is smiling more because she is winning. I think she smiles less about the money. Remember, she said she cried about 1 hour after losing an important match. Tennis is very most important thing to her....probably no 2 after her parents. In a Chinese home, parents are always No 1.

      @@jan1an Yes, I agree. I do feel Sabalenka is in her top form at moment and Qinwen Wasn't. The following was what she said to the media recently--translated by chatgpt from Chinese language:
      "Zheng Qinwen told the media, 'I feel proud of myself. The transition from clay to hard courts is not easy, especially since I returned to China in between, so I didn’t have as much time to prepare as other players. I just tried to stay consistent and find my rhythm in the game, even if I wasn't at my best. Much stronger mentally and have a much better serve. She will have to play the her best tennis to stand a chance to win Sabalenka. At the Paris Olympics, she was 0-6 against Swiatek, the best clay court player and somehow she managed to win. Now at 0-2 against Sabalenka, she has to play her best. I think her team led by Pere Riba has prepared her well enough with sufficient power and self belief to have a chance to win. What an exciting match ahead!

    Why do a lot of western TV hosts, commentators, and journalists call her Kinwen? But no, it's Qinwen! It's Romanized Chinese pronunciation! Are they ignorant? Or are they doing that on purpose? She's Chinese!! Or you pronounce Donna's last name Vikick!!??
