Hate to say this but what sometimes motivates me to get up and clean is watching one of those "disaster house" cleaning channels. The ones where the house is a complete mess and there is stuff/food/toys/etc all over the place and the counters/surfaces are gross. Since my house isn't close to being that messy, it makes me feel better about how little I need to do to get my house clean and how quickly getting it clean will take as opposed to whoever I just watched trying to clean theirs. On the other hand, watching channels like yours where the house mess is similar to mine and really isn't that bad makes me want to get up and get it done so that I can relax and enjoy the feeling of knowing I am done for the day.
Yeeees!! Some days though I see that, look around and go "girl, you're doing good" lmao 😅

100% Agree! :-). I have a perfectionist streak so my cleaning takes forever! Or I don’t do it at all LOL. but when I’m short on time and people are coming over I do what needs to be done and the perfectionism goes out the window!
I also met my husband in 6th grade (that was 32yrs ago this September 😮) but we didn't get together until the end of our senior year. Once we got together things moved really fast. We were engaged a month later and 15 months after that we got married. This September we will celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary.

I have been in a slump and decided to return to making my home a retreat, I use to be on a cleaning schedule and will definitely put the schedule you provided to good use. Thank you very much!

Music helps me want to clean when I don’t feel like it. I get more done it gives me a boost.

What helps me clean is the feeling I have afterwards. I hate procrastinating and knowing that things will pile up if I don't get ahead of things, so I clean for the feeling of relief I get after
Usually if I'm having a hard time getting started, I tidy an area that will make a huge visual difference. If my living room is messy, and it's a quick job to just tidy it, that gets me going to do the other things. Another thing that helps motivate me is getting new cleaning supplies that smell really good. I always get excited for cleaning when I have something new to try or something I know is going to make my whole house smell good.
What motivates me to clean up - asking myself how would I feel if guests come to my place 😂

Happy Monday Jamie and friends! The timer definitely is a motivator. Another motivator is taking it one thing at a time. I get overwhelmed automatically when I look at the room as a whole because I'm so focused on all the mess all over the room! Instead, I go in and start with one area of the room and focus solely on that one area, like a table. Once I get that area clean, I go to another area. Breaking things up piece by piece helps a lot!

My husband and i just celebrated our 8 yr anniversary, we first dated when i was 13 and he was 15. We had our oldest daughter when i was 16, we got married when i was 23 and then had our middle daughter and most recently our son turned 1 mid june. He is such a good man and its crazy we thought we were so grown at those young ages lol. Our oldest daughter is now 14😅
Most times to motivate myself i try to remind myself how much i love the house being clean and organized and will turn on one of the cleaning channels i love like yours❤

I've honestly been struggling as a single mom... my parents have had health problems so they are more dependent on me... my daughter is 8 so she's in softball and cheer and socializing... we put down my 13 yr old basset hound and my parents' 17 yr old chihuahua in the same month... so today I decluttered my drawer that holds all the kitchen baggies and wax paper and tinfoil, did dishes, took recycle out, tidied the kitchen, cleaned the toilet, and folded laundry. Rest of the house is still a struggle bus... but it's something.

I wish I could keep a routine like this. I work from home 2 days a week which is usually when I do most of the cleaning, but then it also can feel sooo overwhelming when I have so much to do in those 2 days. I do tidy as I go, usually, but there are some days where I don’t do a lick of cleaning. But, I’m doing my best and that’s all I can really hope for. Your videos are always super motivating though!!!

I REALLY love wallpaper in a powder room! I think it looks rich and chic no matter what your style is. Vertical stripes, leaves/floral, or even just a simple raised pattern on a mono-colored paper would look amazing! It's a cool way to make it look sophisticated without spending a ton of cash. Google some pics if you haven't seen that before and maybe you'll like it, too :)

I have to literally set a day and time for myself. e.g. On Saturday @ noon I have to start my chores. Once I get started, I’m inclined not to stop. I plug into your channel, stream it on my TV and put my earbuds in and GO! And love your take on letting the kiddos clean as they feel. Growing up, I remember wanting to contribute and trying to clean. My mom would always go in behind me and re-make my bed. I remember being so frustrated by that.
I don't enjoy cooking, and I really want to enjoy it. Something I never realized is the cleaning takes your energy away for cooking. My daughter has her house professionally cleaned. She and her husband have big careers. They come home and enjoy cooking. It is mostly their only home chore.

I think it’s the wall color in the small bathroom. Then add your wood shelves with black hardware, and a couple green plants. A cute little bench for the plant in the corner, target has cute ones in a wood color, hearth brand. Love your channel, thank you for being so real! ❤

Hey Jamie! I stopped trying to do everything in a day or two. I have things I do each day, make my bed & clean kitchen. Mondays I do surfaces and mirrors, Tuesday/Thursday vacuum/mop & laundry, Wednesday/Friday deep cleaning projects. I make a point to enjoy my weekends with my family.
Thank you very much for the printables! Lists are motivating for me…I feel so good crossing off each item as I finish. I would love more videos like this! I know it’s not exactly cleaning related but I’ve loved all of your videos on planning. Any video related to planning for the week, or nightly prep for a better day, and routines are fantastic! I’m also a fan of ASMR as part of the video. Lastly I would love to see shorts where you clean a specific area in real time where it is not sped up. Love your channel! Keep up the great work! Put some white floating shelves behind the toilet add a few staples on the shelves plus a fake small plant. I think the green plant would do the trick. Also YES, change that mirror to an oval or round one. Maybe the hand towels in there could have a plant leaf pattern with white background

I make myself an iced coffee to get me going. I don't have them often so this a treat ❤
For the guest bathroom, you can replace the mirror with a large circle shaped one that has a gold or bronze trim, or maybe even wood trim. Also adding some faux greenery will freshen up the space. You can put a small one next to the sink. Adding some coastal art work maybe above the toilet or on the wall will elevate the space as well. Your guest bath is really nice, just need to add some warmth and character and it’ll look even more gorgeous! Hope this helps ☺️
Hey Jaimie! For your guest bathroom i suggest that you get a wicker basket to put all
of those products in and yes, a mirror with a brown frame would make it look coastal. You could probably then get away with keeping the paint color. I enjoy your videos so much 🙂.

Thank you for sharing. I love having a guide or routine to clean my home. There are days that it doesn't get done but that is totally ok.
Couple of ideas to help you in the kitchen. Maybe invest in gloves that are cut resistant when you're prepping. The other idea is pre-cut veggies. Which can save time in the kitchen.
The downstairs bathroom I would try peel and stick wallpaper, definitely a lighter more coastal mirror, maybe some wood shelves.

I'm struggling with motivation at the moment, and the thing that I tell myself is, just do this room, even if it's just picking it up, when I see it's tidy, I'll then want to pick up the next room, and for me it's never as bad as I think, less than 5 minutes in each room and it looks so much better. Then when it's all tidy it's easier to say, I'll just get the vacuum out to really finish things off and then you feel so much better about life!
I use to enjoy cleaning! Now I’m 55 and I just dread it. I still do it because I love a clean home but it’s a real struggle now. 😢. Btw I have the same pantry your parents do (it’s small) and I used everything you used in theirs and to this day it works great!!!

When I have a BIG chore to be done, I break it down into sections...sometimes I do one small thing then go back to it another day but most times once I start, I want to get at least halfway. What you could do about your half bath is change out the mirror FIRST (easiest change IMO) then that can give you a better idea if it is the paint color you don't care for...I think that bathroom can also use a pop of color from an accessory or something on the wall maybe...

With your coastal vibes in the rest of the house, you could do a light wood mirror, and then board and batten or beadboard around the lower half with a chair rail. We did that in our small guest bathroom. We do have a window in there, but those changes helped a lot

The bathroom is definitely the one room I dread for the week because my tub gets really mildewy fast, I'm trying out different cleaners to make that easier to scrub. And I have my cat's litter box in there so the floor and surfaces get gross faster, even though it's a low-dust litter. I try to do it on a day I feel good, but that can vary week to week!

It’s funny you do this routine. I started a routine something like this back in the 80s because I started teaching as a new teacher and then I was a new mom. I remember saving Wednesday for just tidying everywhere because I had a teachers meeting every Wednesday no matter what it was till 5 o’clock 😮thanks for bringing back memories but I’ve just got my new home and I am going to back to do this new routine….😮😅😂 it just makes things in life easier.

I agree about changing the paint color in that half bathroom. Don't rule out a color that has a shimmer to it. Not just a satin finish but a pearl like reflection to it. Between that darkness the current color gives off in that small room along with the black frame on the mirror, your eyes stall as soon as you walk in.
A pretty frameless mirror would be lovely. Add some floating shelves and some pretty, soft, almost romantic art would transform the space. Just my thoughts on it.
