So for the record, this was filmed on July 5th and I have circled back to this album WAY more than I expected since then! My top 3 songs right now are actually Still, Insomnia, and Distance 😱 and thank you for being patient with my video drops. I promise we’re going back to fashion show reactions next! 💖
The album was solid. I get why some wanted more punchy tracks, especially for a debut, but I see it more as an experience. It’s not a masterpiece, but for a debut, it’s really good. If you pay attention, the first two tracks show her southern roots, and the next two are more sensual and moody. She shows her versatility with how confident, sexy, and vulnerable she can be, and that’s what I really appreciate about it.
Well said!!! 🙌🏾💯 solid is the best word to describe this album. Definitely a very good project for a debut. Love how you broke it down, makes sense! I very much appreciate the music and vibe that she gave us.
All yours, Insomnia, Distance are definitely favs on the albums! I really loved the album, I feel like it’s really solid and will grow onto people over time. I just think the lack of promotion is what really set back the success of the album. I’m a fan of all the Fifth Harmony gurls so imma stand by Normani 💯 always love hearing your thoughts on current music, keep on shining 😘
It’s a veryyy good album! I listen pretty much every day now, which says a LOT for me. Super disappointed in the continuous lack of promotion, but I’m always rooting for the girlsss as well! And thank you so much doll 😘💖💯✨
Upon further reflection, I have to say only Little Secrets is a CHOP. Everything else is FIRE. Top 3 are All Yours, Still, and Grip. Normani rapping and singing on a beat just does something to me!
The album was just me I think Tyla had a stronger debut more cohesive album when you hear the word dopamine you think of up-tempo records insomnia is a better album title for the stack of album I wasn't impressed with the opening track because I've heard that before and there was nothing special about it candy paint was very monotone and didn't go anywhere production wise the Kung Fu record should have just been an interlude while I like steel it can be a little sleepy the best vocals on the album or from Brandi remember these songs gave any personal connection to the artist plus the fact that normani says she didn't even like half the album overall 5 out of 10
I loved Tyla’s album, did a video listening to that one as well. Definitely feel you on the lack of personal connection. I do think there was a missed opportunity to introduce herself a bit more. Didn’t know she said she didn’t like half her album lol I’ll have to find that one.
It’s dopamine it’s trying to give Janet Jackson’s velvet rope and Brandys never say never to me. It’s some thing that’s a little bit more R&B yet experimental rather than contemporary and dance ready. I think the major faults of the album is it just sounds very monotonous, it definitely could’ve benefited to have more up-tempo tracks but even the slow tracks I think needed a bridge or a break down some thing that really gave the listeners some variety with the tones in the album. Also, I think this album is very much generic by today’s standards where we have these very low tempo heavily layered tracks talking about relationships, we really didn’t learn anything new about Normani. At this point in her career she needs to incorporate more material that allows us a look at who she is.
SO well said!!!!! I completelyyyyy agree that we needed way more of a personal introduction to Normani the HUMAN (another Brandy album reference) on her first album, as opposed to just Normani the artist. That being said, I still listen to several cuts off the album and do enjoy the project sonically. But your points were extremely valid and well made! Thanks for the comment.
@@MalcolmSoaries oh, I completely agree I think the production is amazing, it just feels a little too consistent. I just think the album needed a little bit more diversity when it comes to the pacing. It didn’t feel as cohesive as it could’ve been. It just felt a little too current. I wanted something just her way. PS I love the brandy human reference

Lights on is that girl !!! ❤
Veryyyyy…intimate!!! Still not my favorite but I can see why people love it

RIGHT?!? I love it! Ok but wait….why has Little Secrets really grown on me though! Lately I’ve been skipping Lights On and 1:59.
I love the album! I was putting everyone on! 💙
Ok now if YOU love it then I know I’m not trippin!! Omg and your voice would be SO beautiful covering some of these! 💖🙌🏾💯
@@MalcolmSoaries aww thank you so much! 😊
It actually was brandy at the end of insomnia one of my favorite tracks!
I knewwww ittttttttt! Insomnia is probably my favorite. That production is insane!
@@MalcolmSoaries it was inspired by accapella something is missing by Brandy
Liights off! But I love that song it’s actually one of my favorites
This is the main one I could hear you covering!!!
@@MalcolmSoaries definitely my vibe!
Literally my favorite
The album was wonderful but she NEEDED live performances.rnb thrives off singing not dancing.
Agreed! I still think she needs to dance though. This album is categorically a Pop album.

Distance written by sevyn streeter ❤
Ooooooooooh. That makes sense!! Man that song reallyyyyy grew on me 🔥🙌🏾💯
@@MalcolmSoaries you can here sevyn
It was a mess. She dropped a mediocre album and dipped. I'm done supporting her. ✌🏾
Ooooooh not mediocre 🥴 I disagree on that, but I am definitely disappointed that we haven’t seen her do anything but photo shoots. 💯🙌🏾
