I think it’s a combination of a lot of things. Your curl type, porosity, maintenance method and age of locs. I’ve noticed people who palm roll seem to retain more hair. But one thing I’ve learned is high porosity hair locs faster. I have high porosity 4c hair so my hair locked quick because it was always super prone to tangling due to the surface texture of my individual strands. I’m pretty sure means I’ll also see more breakage if I comb out my locs. I always struggled with tangling and breakage as a loose natural.
When picturing loose natural hair you have to also picture having to do something with it everyday or every other day. Always having to have a plan. With locs you may do something with it if you want and you can come up with a plan if you want but you don't have to. I did loose natural for 11 years. It's a lot of work. I'm good with my microlocs.👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾☺️☺️
Yeah I hear you. I think I would just keep it in small/medium braids or twists most of the time. But that’s what I love about locs. I don’t have to do anything to it at all. I also haven’t worked with my own loose natural hair past 2-3 inches of hair so it’s definitely an experience I want to have at some point.💕
@@JOSETTEBIANCAI think you should experience your loose natural hair. I experienced mine for more than 10 years. When I look back at pictures of me with loose natural hair, my hair looks so unfinished. i’m only 2.5 years loc’d.🙌🏾🙌🏾 So, I owe myself a loc’d journey for the next few years. I met a woman today with 15 year old microlocs. We both talked about hair freedom with locs. Just because locs are the lifestyle I want to live doesn’t mean this is the loc journey for you. Be true to you. I will be watching.😊
Hey hey! I combed out my locs after like 7 years in 2021. I had recently cut my waist length locs into a shoulder/collarbone length bob a couple months before I decided to comb out. After combing out and trimming damage my loose hair was waist length?? It was wild that my loose hair was longer than my locs? Still have no idea how that happened
No, you were right. It's a burden. I'm never going back to being a loose natural. I have 4c super thick hair and the amount of time and effort I had to use for my hair was taxing. Trying to do a twist out or braid out and then it still came out as an afro was just too much. LOL. Let's not even talk about wash days and the number of products. I guess it depends on your hair texture what your experience will be, but I can't see myself ever doing that again.
I combed out my locs after 18 month and kept all of my length. I was surprised! But the process of combing out my locs taught me to be more gentle with my loose natural hair 😊
I have no intentions of combing out my locs, but should I change my mind, I'm growing it out about 5 inches, then chopping them off, relaxing, and getting a pixie cut.

Interesting, I don't think I will be combing mines out lol
Lolll

Heyy! Haha that’s crazy! But I love that you retained so much length. When I combed out a loc in the back it was way longer than my locs too.

There should be a loc takedown service somewhere
Be prepared to pay an arm and a leg 🫣

Interesting, love that! Yeah I’ve been watching a lot of videos of women with long type 4 hair and they all stress how important being gentle is.
Imani’s made a video before both of her parents are red heads and that’s her natural hair color
Ahh okay that’s what I thought. Makes sense. It’s a beautiful hair color.

Sister locs are tied so how can it get 🪮 out?
Just with conditioner, water and a fine tooth comb
