This was a truly strong performance from an orchestra, whose members are not professional musicians but medical students. The music teaching must be in a high level in Taiwan. Bravo!

Bravo! Amazing that the orchestra members are students from National Taiwan University College of Medicine! This reminds me of several great composers in history whose parents wanted them to pursue medicine but they persisted with music instead.
Jules Gardet Hopefully at a more deliberate pace. I suppose it beats a more anesthetizing performance in the operating room. One is performed in a theater, the other in the operating theatre. Wonder if the observing residents applaud an operation well done.
Absolutely amazing and loved the solo cellist's beautiful interpretation, it is hard to believe that the performers are from medical university, this is definetely above prossional level!!!👏👏👏

Beautiful. Very first time I heard this magnificient piece was in an Hanna Barbera cartoon series; such great music was accompasing the action of the cartoon, this was 50 years ago. Good old times when kids used to be educated and exposed to this marvelous music since kindergarden. Today they learn how to dance and sing terrible musical trash like reggaeton. Excellent performance as actual proffesionals. Thanks for uploading such great piece of art.
IMO Hanna Barbera and Disney and especially Warner Brothers are owed much for exposing at least two generations of young people to classical music in their productions
I don't understand how there can be empty seats in the auditorium! This is one of the finest performances the Poet and Peasant Overture I have ever heard. The audience are truly privileged.
People belittle non-professionals, such that all orchestra members are ticket sellers, each responsible for selling, say 20 tickets, while friends and relatives their victims. Victim’s responsibility is to buy the tickets, not to attend the concert, thus the vacant seats.

Très bonne introduction, belle interprétation. Quand j'pense que je l'avais joué en harmonie avec mes frères et soeur en 1973 (c'était mon frère qui jouait le solo au saxo !), le tout était dirigé par un sacré chef aussi (Eugène LOSSON, Harmonie de la Bassée qui avait réussi à nous faire monter en 1ère division !). Il faut également écouter l'interprétation de la garde républicaine de Paris, dirigé par Désiré Dondeyne. Bravo à tous ces musiciens.

Esta era uma das preferidas pelo Maestro Max Geefter com a Filarmônica de Juiz de Fora na acústica do Teatro Central em Juiz de Fora. Era virada dos anos 50/60. Esta é muitas belas aberturas não sobram aqui no Brasil tempo para serem executadas pelos nossos maestros.

This orchestra performs this wonderful composition fantastically well. It is a magnificent piece. It's always worthwhile to listen to oriental people performing. They are so dedicated and put their heart and soul into anything they do. A great achievement. The conductor is a miestro.

I love this Overture... Jim look at runtime 9:28 to 9:30... he's not really sleeping... he moves his head from left extreme to the right extreme... neck issues maybe? He definitely has his neck in an odd postion though... I agree not an easy piece to sleep to... wonderfully stirring!

沒想到會巧遇台灣的演奏會! 大提琴主奏時感覺稍有瑕疵,結果一查看,原來是北醫的高材生所組成的樂團! (以前在鄉下讀國小時,第一名的同學後來才考得上北醫! 😅)才想可能因此才與職業樂團稍有差距,但他老兄後段卻突然演奏出水準來(但最後兩句似乎用情不深!？) ! 雖然獨奏不盡完美但合奏卻出奇地厲害! 而且音樂廳的錄音效果也比想像中好! 因為錢都花在買CD上,所以不曾去聽過😅 ! (只聽過廳外廣場上的直播)

This orchestra performs this wonderful composition fantastically well. It is a magnificent piece. It's always worthwhile to listen to oriental people performing. They are so dedicated and put their heart and soul into anything they do. A great achievement. The conductor is a miestro.

I love this Overture... Jim look at runtime 9:28 to 9:30... he's not really sleeping... he moves his head from left extreme to the right extreme... neck issues maybe? He definitely has his neck in an odd postion though... I agree not an easy piece to sleep to... wonderfully stirring!

Eine der schönsten Overtüren der klassischen Musik. Wunderbares Orchester, vor allem wenn man bedenkt, dass diese jungen Leute Musik nicht hauptberuflich betreiben. Ganz besonders angetan bin ich vom Solisten.
