You really have a nice collection of helicopters there. Very very cool my friend, sorry about the lockdown. I guess better safe than sorry you know. Big thumbs up from the Midwest.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️
Hi Ian ... really interesting comparison... Have not fully setup my Blade 250s yet because I am still learning my new NX6 controller ...but I did buy the Microheli fibreglass canopy and what a great improvement in quality !!!! Got three weeks of shutting the old family house down, so will be back flying at River Cottage in early Feb ... Thanks ... Michael
Well take your time Michael theres no rush, theres not so much you can adjust in the 150s and to be honest you don't need to just put the settings from the manual into your radio and fly, if there's anything your not sure about give me a call👍😄
@@IansRCExploits Just a couple small micro helis over the past years and one 200 sized. Looking to get a 360s or m2 Evo next. But yes a 500-700 heli my nerves would be too bad not to crash it fast, I know what you mean by intimidated.
The 360 will be a nice Jump and the M2 Is a class bit of kit!! I had been flying Helie's for a few years when I started flying the Blade Helie's!! I had a real bad hang up with turning left and the SAFE helped me to conquer it 😀👍
My Trex 450 is a real handful to fly!! It is a fly barred Heli so only runs a tail Gyro the 330s is much nicer to fly as it is flybarless and is controlled by a flybarless Gyro so is much more stable!! The Trex is much better quality than the Blade though👍😄
@@IansRCExploits Maybe a 470LP then? I agree on quality! 100% better gear, aluminum vs plastic and CF frame etc. Just more support from horizon and general public online. I hope blade continues their Fusion line of Helicopters further. Cheers
Happy New Year Ian, I hope you are well mate. Great little video, as always. I was particularly curious about the size of the 330S vs the 230S as I have just ordered a 330S to bridge the gap between my 230S and Trex 500X currently in build. I’m like you, I love flying sport but don’t really fancy 3D but am in awe of the guys that do it.
Ooh yes Delbert!! I don't think I'll get chance to fly it for a while yet with the lockdown!! I've set it up very mild with a gentle head speed and I'm going to be very careful with her👍😄
Hey Ian Good video. It's interesting to see the 330 (my obsession 😁) is more or less the same size as the Trex 450. Funny thing size, on the field the 230 feels quite small but doing a trim flight in the garage to avoid wind it feels VERY big 😁 Anyway on to today's question, because of weather, lockdown etc I've started looking at Sims. It seems to be between RF9 and Accurc. Trouble is the laptop I would have to use is only a bit above minimum spec for Accu were the minimum for RF9 is a bit lower. This is to help trying to fly in FM1. I know you've mentioned them before. What do you use and what's your opinion on them Cheers Paul 👍🚁
Well I've got RF9.5 and I hate it!! I've also got Clearview Flight sim which is my favourite but it doesn't do the Blade Helie's only Trex and Raptors but it's a lot cheaper to buy and isn't so demanding on your PC but you would still need to get a transmitter!! I don't know about AccuRc, I suppose RF9 would be the one but it only has the 230s you would think it would have the 330s but it doesn't!! It works!! But I don't like it Clearview is a lot more realistic for flying Helie's!! Have a look at it👍😄
Originally I fitted a carbon fiber tail boom to help get the correct CG, I run mine on the recommended battery but since this video u converted it to a Hughes 300 with the Microheli kit!! Thanks for watching and commenting 😄👍🚁
Well Roger!! The Police around where I live are being quite happy to hand out fines to people!! So I don't really want to take a chance, I've got to drive to go and fly and this is what's causing the problem!! You can exercise as long as you start at home and finish at home and not drive to a destination👍
@@IansRCExploits yeah, I have read about people being fined for driving to a destination to exercise. I have just got my 230, it’s my first heli. Just gaining confidence hovering in safe mode Currently
The 230s really is a fab Heli, yes just take your time because when you switch out of normal mode it becomes a different beast!! I love flying mine flat out in SAFE mode on high rates!! It's a blast and a great tool for practicing your orientation especially nose in hovering👍😄
@@IansRCExploits Hi Ian, I am flying my 230S V2 using a DX6i, where you only have two flight modes, i.e. Normal and Stunt. Main difference is throttle is fixed at 85% straight line in stunt (as per the table in the manual). When you say 'switch out of normal mode it becomes a different beast', do you mean SAFE is off?
Hi Robin, I use a DX8 gen2 transmitter, But also have a DX8e, DX6i and a Futaba 6j and one more Futaba 6 channel transmitter that I can't remember the name of!! The DX8 gen2 is my favourite as it is so great to use😄👍
@@IansRCExploits I'm a relative newcomer to rc helis and indeed have only been flying my 230S V2 for a few weeks, but loving it and progressing pretty well, I think. Already looking for my next (and bigger!) model and on my short-list at the moment are the Align 470LP and a Blade 33S. If I go for the 470LP, then I think I would get the super combo and have a go at building the kit. What are your thoughts on 470LP v Blade 330S? Clearly you own both, but do you have a preference and why?
Hi Robin, RC Helie's has a massive learning curve, so if your comfortable flying the 230s around and can cope with hovering tail and nose in I shouldn't see no reason why you can't progress to a 450-470 size Heli, but remember the difference between the Blade 330s and Trex 470lp is massive!! The 330s is 3s and the 470lp is 6s so it is a lot more powerful. As which one to get I would recommend you building one!! As to do so and successfully get it flying you will vastly improve your knowledge of what goes in to making a model Heli fly, I won't lie it's not for the faint hearted and will at some point involve a few crashes!! But the sense of achievement you get when you see a Heli that you've built fly is amazing, the Blade 330s is a great Heli but lots of people including myself have had major issues with the Gyro!! If you look at my channel you will see the love hate relationship I've had with this Heli😄👍
my 450's run on 2700 3s packs which are the smallest i own in 3s but ive had it in the air on a 4000 3s, you know what im like, too hell with balance and just add some trim lol
Well, that was quite interesting for someone like me Ian, you'll have to stop posting heli videos I may catch the bug, I'll have a sneaky peek at the heli section on my sim later 😯
I didnt realize you had so many, its nice to see them all together at once! 👍
Thanks Jerry!! I've got 5 more than that Lol thanks for watching and commenting 👍😄
Loved your video, Ian. Its nice to see those Helis all side by side.
Thanks Wolfgang👍😄

Curious to see what the 230S V3 offers, Horizon shows pre-order. I would assume telemetry
I'm not sure I haven't seen much about it but I think your right that it will have all the SMART gear in it👍

You can learn much quicker on a quality sim with no damage costs.
Yes sims are great but they can't give you the fear factor in flying for real, especially when you fly larger Helies!! How many Helie's do you fly?
