The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian, inspired by a classic piece of Rachmaninoff (Piano Concerto N°2 in C Minor).
Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer (he composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You and was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that brought Celine Dion to WW fame). He is also now the producer of Dimash for his US career.
When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision, that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics.
Lara has said this is her preferred english song from all the songs she wrote in this language (there are many, and some are pure jewels).
One reason is also because this song has then been covered by the greatests:
- Barbra Streisand (she performed it in concerts from one of her tour but never recorded it),
- Josh Groban (his cover made this song famous in US),

Regarding Jackie Evancho, and at the request of Jackie's parents who found the original lyrics were not a good fit for a young girl, Lara rewrote Broken Vow in french as "Imaginer" with a complete different meaning.
There are no words to express admiration and respect.
The way she constructs a song is amazing. The power, softness, nuances, clarity, delivery, diction, emotion, the words........like a one person orchestra. Been a fan of hers for a long time. And with her beauty, I don't see how anybody could break her heart. I like the way you break down her singing. Good job.

Exposure, early on in her development, to her Grandfather who is/was American; *born and raised* certainly didn't hurt.
She seems to have an affinity for languages, and is fluent in four (Italian, French, Spanish and English) and "gets by" in a few more. She also wrote the lyrics to this one.

because those are her native languages, so of course she's fluent. She's fluent in English and Spanish. She speaks Dutch and Portuguese, not fluently.
@@vervideosgiros1156 Many people no longer even speak or understand their "native" or "mother" tongue. I was 3.5 years old before I understood I was speaking two languages, so I understand your point, but if people do not get the practice around them they will lose their native language.
@@dcchiasson5991 How could she lose her native languages when she lived all her childhood and teen years with her italian mom and her belgian dad in Belgium? Of course that she used to speak with her mom in Italian and she talks with her dad in French! Just because in the USA people seem to be ashamed of their ancestry and they speak with their kids in English because they are ashamed of their own languages, that doesn't mean that everybody do that! Besides that, why wouldn't she talk in French and Italian if she lived in Belgium since her 5 and she lived in Italy until 5?!

Lara is still very active, her voice still grandiose , her look spectacular, She,s got a new world tour starting in april 2024, mostly Europe and mid/Asia after in June its in Canada Ottawa, Montréal. Québec city and Trois-Rivière, I've got my tickets for the 2 shows in Montréal, can't wait. Maybe some venues in the USA for 2025, to be announce later on...?

She's incredible. There is one song in French she wrote and sang for her mother. It's called « L'oubli » (forgetfulness, it's about her mom's disease). It's a video clip but it's very emotional and powerful. I love Cakra's version than Lara Fabian's. Cakra brings out life of the song but Lara just sings the lyrics. That's the difference between real singing and and just singing.
