Can people stop saying underrated? it's one of the most overused words on the internet. This was one of the most popular shows of the time. It's not underrated at all.
What I really like about this show is that for a supposed kids show the morality is quite grey. The protagonists are not exactly heroes, and the antagonists are not exactly villains.
Nowadays, I feel like everyone has forgotten Recess, but it's such an amazing show. (I'm not even a 90's kid, I was born in the late 00's after the show ended, but I love it so much

I see the Ashleys and I clicked!!! My favorite is always the Ashleys, not saying that because that's my name as well, but spelled different. I love their fashion, dramatic outbursts and their hilarious catchphrase "Scandalous!" Goodbye, old Disney😭😭😭😭
I always found the Ashleys to be weird. It's one thing that they're all in the same age group and share the same name, but they also all have younger brothers all named Tyler and baby sisters all named Brittany all of which are in the same age groups. It makes me question the sex lives of their parents. After all, their offspring are all REALLY close so they may be even closer.
Miss Finster is one of my favorite characters. She may be a strict disciplinarian, but on several occasions she has shown that she really does care for the children. She even has some tender moments like in "Weekend at Muriel's" and even when she adopted a kitten. I think the reason Miss Finster is a great character is because of the way April Winchell voiced her.
Well, when your dad was as talented as Paul Winchell was, it's no wonder April has a knack for voice-acting. Paul was legendary, especially as Tigger. Don't get me wrong, I love Jim Cummings. I think he's a better voice for Pooh than Sterling Holloway was. But when it comes to voicing Tigger... Paul Winchell had the perfect pitch, attitude and playfulness. I don't think he can be topped, not even by someone as supremely talented as Jim Cummings.
My cousins would always watch Recess all the time whenever I would spend the night at their house . I didn't like the show at first but over time , I grew to love it the more I watched
I think that she was more shy and girly until Gus came to her kindergarten. When she found out how tough she was, she probably got the impression that tough people don't like girly things(which is totally not true). So I think that she abandoned her girly interests to cultivate her reputation as the toughest kid in her school.
And Spinelli and T.J. were the power couple. They are the best canon ship out of this show, they had great chemistry. T.J. and Spinelli are just the best match, with her thoughness and his leadership. They are the cutest. ❤
it seemed a bit big inside though compared to what it looked like outside and how did they make sure no one went in there when they were not there?..no security and what school would allow that?..why is it disguised

They're wrong about Spinelli. She doesn't freely embrace all that is female. She repeatedly rejects anything that's seen as feminine, because she thinks it'll cause people to make fun of her. The examples they gave were off too. Yes at first she volunteered to be Mikey's dance partner. But originally she had to be forced to take dance class in the first place. And when she heard their school would be in the audience, she backed out. She only followed through because she felt bad about hurting Mikey. As for having an opportunity to join the Ashleys, she never wanted to at all, which is why she had kept her first name a secret. She specifically mentioned that she never wanted to be girly like the Ashleys. She was forced to join because the Ashleys invoked an archaic playground rule about cliques. There's an entire montage showing the Ashleys trying to feminize Spinelli, and it's portrayed as torturing her. And finally, she was entered into that beauty pageant as a joke by the Ashleys. She only came out to express her true self after talking to Ashley A and realizing she was pretending to be something she wasn't. What made Spinelli great was that for all her faults, she ultimately had heart. She wasn't perfect, but she tried to do the right thing by her friends. Her flaw was that she was always worried about her reputation as a tough girl, but she was able to learn that a reputation wasn't worth her self respect. That's what I liked about her.
Absolutely adored this show as a child. Surprisingly it still holds up as especially as and adult you realize quite a few references that would got over your head as a kid such as references of; World War 1&2, the great depression specifically, communism, capitalism, psychological conversion, sexism, non-conforming gender stereotypes, the list goes on. This kids cartoon was very progressive for it's time.
