Glad to see that Recess is still being talk about in modern days. It's somehow the most memorable and underrated Disney cartoon of the 90s.

How is it underrated? It’s highly beloved by OG Disney Channel viewers and it was so popular and beloved it even had a theatrical released movie. It’s so popular it’s often pinned up against “Hey, Arnold!” From Nickelodeon as one of the best cartoons from the 90’s.
Thing with Randall: he had multiple chances where TJ and the gang took him in and became friends with him. Ultimately, though, he had a stronger bond with Ms Finster than anyone his age.
Sad truth is, you could be Almighty God Himself, and still some people won't like you!
His voice actor also voiced Demyx in Kingdom Hearts II
Recess was one of the best cartoons that ever aired. If it was available to stream, I’d still watch it now.

Finister and Spinelli gave the best burns of all the characters, I adored their sass! 😎
Thank you for making a list about this show, it was my entire childhood. I loved the zany characters and off the wall scenarios that the six heroes would find themselves in.
I love that Spinelli's friends had to "Oh Captain, My Captain" the school to get her out of being called "Mama's Girl".
It's actually similar to when the school tried to ban the world "whomps". It meant absolutely nothing, but it got banned because kids were saying it instead of swearing. The more they tried to ban it, the more the kids said it.

This was such a good show. It was so awesome how they made every simple situation so dramatic.
The fact that I remember every single one of these episodes after roughly 20 years reminds me how much of a gem Recess was. I just wish they could have run it longer than it did.

I related so much to when TJ was trying to make Gordy like him. It was a really great lesson for me to learn, and the episode helped me realize to put my efforts towards people who actually like me

The Ashleys were so devious, clever and adorable
Which made them more fun to watch than other antagonists like Randall
Plus some of the Recess gang like Spinelli sometimes anatgonized the ashleys for no good reason
Which made it satisfying when the ashleys got to mess with Spinelli
And even more satisfying when they get their own just deserts in the end
Best episode is when the Ashley's learn that spinelli is an Ashley.

Every day after school, I watched this show everyday. TJ’s gang are still so cool. The Ashleys were a pain, King Bob was also a pain, but better than King Gus.
I binged watched this series on Disney+ last month,loved the series as a kid since it tackled some serious issues like death,telling the truth despite knowing you'll pay the consequences and standing up for your friends. I definitely recommend this series to watch,even if it's a product of its time.
13:22 Okay. Somebody in the editing room obviously made a slight mistake. Also, despite the fact that a lot of bad, as well as humiliating, things happen to TJ and the gang in the show, it’s remarkable that one way or another everything turns out alright in the end.

The episode where the Ashley’s pull the ratings system was one of the most brutal episodes of Recess. I wanted to clobber the Ashley’s for that toxic stunt they did.
I called one of my teachers Mom, she was Mrs. Megan Oscar-Morgan. But she asked the school to call her MOM for short.
I love her so much as she had a 1969 vibe to teaching, sadly she past away 20 years ago. Still love you MOM.
Would always watch this after school or over the weekend. Such a great series

and suddenly I now remember why my siblings and I watched recess religiously. love this show and I wish more people knew about it
Recess was one of the greatest shows to watch back in the day. Learned a lot of lessons from it. Especially from Vince brother Chad. Guy taught me to just be myself and there are ways to stop bullies. Algebra is no joke in school. Another lesson I learned from when gus was getting bullied. You may lose some battles but you can win the war.
The Ashleys are responsible for some of the most savage moments. They forced Spinelli into their ranks after her real first name got revealed, then they gave her a makeover and turned her into their indentured servant to try and break her. They jinxed Gus which almost got him "taken in". And they are savage to each other when the head Ashley, Ashley A didn't wear Purple on "Purple Day" (the anniversary where the Ashleys first met/when they bother everyone else for not wearing purple), they ex-communicated her and did the schoolyard equivalent of a military degradation ceremony: they rip off her hair bow, tear the teddy bear off her backpack, and yank off and crush her Ashley necklace. Is it any wonder these guys are the kiddie version of The Heathers?
Then Ashley A and Gretchen suddenly became friends and Ashley A copied Gretchen's look and made it cool.

I saw every episode of this show while I was in school. The "Stand up Randall" episode had a savage moment when Randall started telling jokes about Mikey's weight and brutally roasting him. Gelman beating up Gus was also a shocking moment in the "Gus' last stand" episode
Recess is a part of my childhood, I remember watching it on Toon Disney.

One of my favorite moments is when Thaddeus T. Third V (RIP Ed Asner) shows up and puts the awful Mayor Fitzhugh in his place, by subtly calling the latter out for his hypocrisy and demanding him to leave the kids alone. It's so cathartic, and it was also heartwarming to see that even Prickly and Finster sympathized with them
You guys completely missed the reference to "A few good men"s iconic line from Randall " YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!!"
I'm pretty sure that 'box of shame' punishment would've gotten Miss Finnster fired today.

Loved Recess as a kid and still love Recess thanks to Disney Plus. The moment I got Disney Plus, the first thing I did was watch that show. The Economics of Recess episode was my favorite from this list, but my all time favorite is the one where the kids gets addicted to the Ajimbo game and turn into zombies. Classic!
Spinelli was justified in calling Ms. Grotke "Mama", especially because she considers Grotke a mother figure, and both are Libras.
El Diablo... Swinger Girl going over the bar and disappearing...a jimbo( that trading card game lol) ...Spinelli having to sleep at Ms. Finsters house and showing she's a human being...I can't pick one as my favorite
There was that episode where TJ was captured by the kindergarten kids and by the time the gang had found him he had become their king until he was faced with the unbearable truth that no matter what he will have to grow up and can’t go back to being a kid, this episode took a toll on Vince as well as he became more desperate to find his best friend. Or the episode where Mikey split his pants and the for the rest of the episode TJ and the others tried to keep him hidden from Mrs Finister until they were cornered. So instead of letting Mikey go through the humiliation alone TJ,Vince and Gus split their own pants. Not only was that embarrassing for them but the whole school was laughing at them until King Bob told them to stop laughing and lower their hats in respect. Or the episode where Mikey had a crush on the music teacher only to realise she already had someone else.

I have always been curious about King Bob. Did the teachers see him as a King since he always wore the crown in class and I wonder what happened to the Kingship when he went to the upperschool. I know someone new took over, butt I often wondered if he continued/carried his Kingship title in other schools and when it stopped.

I loved Recess as a kid, and was so bummed when the series ended. But, what an ending it was
Recess was a funny animated TV series which made audiences LTBO. My favorite episode of Recess was Me No Know where the characters imitate lines or phrases from a comedy which is an NK-11 (parody of PG-13). It inspired me to do voices during personal spare time activities. It acts as 2D animated video talk for the Recess ensemble.
When u watch this as an adult it definitely brings forth different viewpoints
We have a new math teacher at our high school. He was a writer for Recess.

The most savage moment for me was the only 2 parter episode "Lawson and His Crew" where 5 grader, Lawson, creates his own crew to rival T.J's and steals their glory.
Another savage moment was "Soccer Boy" where Vince refused to have Mikey play on his soccer team, fearing that he would cost them the whole tournament
My daughter and I do Saturday morning cartoons when we aren't busy then. We'll watch some of her faves and some of mine, BUT we always agree on Regular Show and Recess. Some others, but usually those two. Never gets old.
Wonder when Disney is gonna give Recess the same treatment as the other shows they've been rebooting/reviving lately?
Think a Recess reboot would the better way to go over a revival.
They had a big screen feature film around 2000, so…
TJ, GUS and Spinelli are the most scary as they can easily be corrupted by power....and it isnt the first time either. TJ even goes Stalin in one episode just to gain tokens. I know everyone has thier flaws, but TJ is just power mad and gets scary.
When I was little I used to hang with the teacher because I was a shy kid and no one didn't want to play with a socially awkward shy kid.

Randell. He loves being the henchman and being bossed around. He follows in his father's footsteps and loves telling on people. When TJ pulls him out of it, Randell gets very upset. Sure, kids are mean, but it his own doing. He doesn't want friends, he is just jealous of TJ, He is defiantly the one to hate

The reason why most ppl remember Mama's Girl was for three reasons
1. We all had this similar experience before
2. When Spinelli screams NO! and swallows the camera, it was very intense and memorable
3. The episode was a masterpiece
My fav episode is "Mama's Girl" because it is not only funny, but is also satisfying and memorable, especially when Spinelli screams and eats the camera during the first half of the episode, lol

It's adorable how you prank your audience with a blooper after describing a prank scene from the show.
Despite my profound nostalgia and appreciation for the show, my grievance with Recess wasn't any of these entries, but the playground hierarchy. King Bob and the "rules" the kids cite are fake at best. Students answer to teachers, not other students. Let alone one student wearing a plastic crown, pretending to be a ruler. And the other kids eat up this charade. Do I question "king" Bob's authority? No. Because he has no authority to question.
