Thank you for this wonderful video. In 1997 my husbanded I bought a 1967 pattern book MCM, raised our family there and restored it over 24 years. My husband and I could definitely make good use of that studio. 😄The clean, clear lines and open spaces, along with the landscaping, make it a very comfortable, relaxing space. $17,000, lol, I love those old prices. I love to take place on my Børge Mogensen 2292 Coupé Sofa by Fredericia and hear “My dear audience…….” This time it would be nicer and more stylish to sit on a Eames Lounge Chair watching this fine video. Living in Europe I am always wondering about the missing insulation of the steel roof. My garage has also a steel roof and on a sunny day it gets very hot underneath. So with air conditioning you should have high energy costs to have a moderate temperature beneath this “naked” steel roof. But energy cost were very low in the 60th. Also it is very, very noisy below such a steel roof during a heavy rain…. But perhaps it’s true that it never rains in California……Have you ever been under this type of roof when it was raining cats and dogs ?
oh..interesenting a Borge Mogensen couch is beautifull. I also like Danish Desig, especially Arne Jacobsen. I live in the Netherlands so I'm nor really familliar with Steel roofs. In the Californian climates it rains only a few days a year. Air conditioning can help a lot. The steel roof is double layered with double steel plates. Also the house is located under the trees that provide a lot of shadow. Ultimately I think it was cost effective and good for the time: nowadays there are better solutions. I visited the Eames House, and it was on a very hot day, and inside it was not really hot so I think it worked well.
Okay interesting, honestly I never had heard of this house. But I googled it and it looks really beautiful and interesting. I shall check it out further, made for a video someday. Thank you for giving me inspiration! :)
I love the opulence of the gold leaf above the entrance but I don’t like the mean little pots at the bottom of the large glass panels - they are not necessary as the view of grass and trees is enough.
Yes, I saw that real estate advertisement as well. Thank you! It's a nice guest house, but I don't think I will ever make a video about it, because it's a very small design and it's not one of Lautner's best, also it's part of a large home which is not designed by Lautner, at the moment I'm busy with making a video of the Segel House by Lautner. Also preparing some videos about other Case Studi Houses.
It's heated by an underfloor heating system, but due to the hot Californian climate it's not necessary to be heated a lot. It's cooled by air condition.
@@kennethbarber438 Yes, how it actually done, I don't know either. But I read it had an underfloor heating system. I don't where and how that heating system is placed.

Price and constructability were important cornerstones of this movement. Would you please include the price in today's dollar as well as what aspects of construction were notable and whether we have improved on them?
The house costed 15.000 dollars to built, which would be 500.000 in todays money.
Would you do an episode on the Deering residence, Casey Key, Florida?
Okay interesting, honestly I never had heard of this house. But I googled it and it looks really beautiful and interesting. I shall check it out further, made for a video someday. Thank you for giving me inspiration! :)
@@SuperJobbel It's kind of magical and perfect for the beach setting. Very interesting layout. Can't quite figure it out.
@@RyanJohnsonD Okay I'm gonna chekc out the house further for you. It's a beautiful house for sure.
@@SuperJobbel I am so glad. Thanks!
@@RyanJohnsonD Yes it will take some time, more other videos will come up first.
I love the opulence of the gold leaf above the entrance but I don’t like the mean little pots at the bottom of the large glass panels - they are not necessary as the view of grass and trees is enough.
The Eames couple loved to have plants explaining the flower pots. I also like the gold leaf above the entrance.
Just saw Lautner's Eisele guest house for sale in LA. If you're looking for 1000 sq ft house for $10,995,000, this one might be for you!
❤
how heated and cooled?
It's heated by an underfloor heating system, but due to the hot Californian climate it's not necessary to be heated a lot. It's cooled by air condition.
@@SuperJobbel thanks. but no visible duct work
@@kennethbarber438 Yes, how it actually done, I don't know either. But I read it had an underfloor heating system. I don't where and how that heating system is placed.
So it was constructed like a Dollar General or a Wal-Mart? It has some neat ideas but the whole thing looks rather cheap to me.
Mondrianish! ☯️
Why do you pronounce studio as study-oh?
Yes, you should pronounce it as "Stoodio" , does it? I know better now, one of the other viewer sended me a message about it. It's my Dutch accent: in my language we say Stuudyoh.
@@SuperJobbel Well I know now I'll pronounce it Stüd-ij-o when in NL too!! 😂
I have love the Eames' work primarily because of their wonderful short film The Powers of Ten (ruclips.net/video/0fKBhvDjuy0/видео.html) which blew me away in my freshman physics class.
I never saw the movie ''Powers of Ten'' but I clicked the youtube link, really great interesting film. Thank you! Beautifull special effects especially for a film from 1977. This is what I liek so much about internet: meeting and sharing our knowledge of great artworks together.
:)😄
