    Hi Martyn, great video thanks. I've just subscribed. I hadn't seen the ethafoam ball tied that way before. Do you think there are any pros / cons in the ball type pattern like this as opposed to the top hat design where the foam seems to sit right down in the surface film?

      @@mikekennedy4549 I think this is more durable and easier to see.
      I don't really see a downside to this style as the body of the fly is still in/just on the underside of the surface film.

      @@flickingfeathers Thanks for replying.. Many years ago when I tied flies (not your quality), I used to tie one pattern with the polystyrene ball on the top middle of the shank so the fly was horizontal and for some reason this worked really well. I used to tie Do you tie any commercially?

    Hi Martyn just found your channel, how would you fish this fly and would you use flourocarbon, thanks

      I would fish it like any dry fly/emerger. I personally like to use nylon except for the tippet which is fluoro. Grease the leader except for the last 12" or so to the fly, which I degrease so it sinks.
