I’m confident that it was intentional, but I still can’t help but giggle at how the card that won Joey his match with Bonz nearly cost him his duel with Kieth (and then technically played a part in helping him win too). It just seems kind of ironic and poetic at the same time!
nah his big advantage when he cheats and get three 7s in a row and still lose lol... now I do admit if yugi didnt give him shield and sword and time wizard. joey wouldnt beat rex, mai, or bandit keith lol
Little did Keith know when he played that sheild and sword card not only did he swap attack and defense points he removed the national DeX from sword and sheild 2
The difference between the show and the manga is that Kieth had his hand turned into a gun by Pegasus and he was forced to shoot himself in the head. So yeah, they had to get rid of that for a kids show. As someone who grew up with Yugioh, I can say for absolute certain that the manga is so much darker than the show.
It's been awhile since I've watched this duel but I don't recall Joey having too much trouble with Keith in the duel. And once he get's control he keeps it all the way to the final play.
Yea ,also in the manga, both Keith and Pegasus die in this arc. In the anime, both are still alive though only Pegasus appears more than once after, including in GX
Fun fact: All of Keith’s monsters (pendulum machine, launcher spider, zoa/metalzoa, barrel dragon and slot machine) are all 5 star or higher monsters! He had blast sphere too which is a 4 star, but that was the only one and he drew that card on like his second-last turn! If duelist kingdom had the tribute rule, Keith would have been screwed against joey!😂
Then after being killed by Pegasus using black magic, Pegasus's Protégé revives him to find out who killed Pegasus and Keith tells him it was Yugi. So Protégé gets the Wicked Gods made by Pegasus to keep the Gods in check in case they got out of hand (Totally not like with Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon in the Pyramid of Light Movie) to get revenge and gives Keith one of them and he has a rematch with Joey. Its called Yugioh R The Manga.
Can someone explain, i feel like im missing something simple, was red eyes in defense? Or is there an anime only effect i missed? How did joe not hit zero life points
In the anime, Time Machine seems to have the unnoted effect of restarting the battle with the destroyed monster back on the field. So since the battle never happened, the player doesn’t suffer any LP loss. It happened earlier too with Barrel Dragon vs Thousand Dragon, so if Joey should have lost LP here, then Kieth should have already lost.
@@shonenhikada9254 It’s not a matter of sucking, it’s a matter of the fact that summoning Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon is a complete waste. Vanilla Red Eyes with Metalmorph not only gains 300 ATK, but also gains ATK equal to half the opponent’s monster when it attacks, so what would be the point of summoning Black Metal Dragon if it doesn’t have this effect? All it has is a higher base ATK compared to REBD w/ Metalmorph by a measly 100.
Love how the writers didn’t really care how the game is supposed to be played and they just threw random stuff and made up cards for Joey and Yugi to win. Also: not only was this duel the best of duelist kingdom but perhaps the greatest upset in original Yu-Gi-Oh!
Lol graverobber only steals spell cards and you take 2000 damage if you use it but then again the old Yu-Gi-Oh had a ton of mistakes but that's why we love it 👌🏿
I know it's anime, but my god, ruling nightmare. 1) time machine is completely different, having battle damage negation and then forcing the monsters to battle again. Because Kieth never said he ended his turn. 2) graverobber is also completely different. You can only take spells and add them to your hand, and if you activate it you take 2000 burn damage
Always wondered that if Joey had loss somehow, would Pegasus have allowed it? He knew he was cheating, so woukd he have just given Joey the victory regardless?
1:39 uh, shouldn't Keith win? Joey only had 450 life points and with Slot Machine having 3000 attack to Red Eyes 2400, that last 600 points of damage should've ended the duel right there. Yeah, Graverobber would allow Joey to use Time Machine and bring Red Eyes back but that doesn't suddenly stop him from losing Life Points. Hell when Keith used Time Machine he still lost life points.
Yeah but when joey attacked barrel dragon with thousand dragon Keith was supposed to lose 600 LP but after Keith used time machine to bring back barell dragon he didn't take the damage either.
Joey should’ve lost when his dragon was destroyed by the Slot Machine, but bc of the technicality of the show, they could’ve given the Time Machine card an extra effect or they completely messed up
Since each player only *has* 2000 LP in this season of the anime, they removed that cost. Also, Graverobber could steal anything - not just Spell cards. It's best to just assume that Pegasus designed cards that were totally broken and only started nerfing them years later.
@@DaRkLoRdZoRc I see, they took out the effects of any cards designed to hurt the player for LP if they activate it like with Graverobber and the effect was appended to steal anything monster, spell, or trap since each player only had 2000 LP in this particular season of the anime So a few years later within DM, Pegasus started refining them to be closer to the real world OCG/TCG
@@stevenjordan3839 Basically. The card game actually came a lot later than the first episodes of the anime; back then, there were no grounded rules at all, and the game was more like a turn-based DnD game than a card game. They only started printing cards and cobbling together a rulebook when the demand for a real Yugioh card game got too loud to ignore anymore.
Haha, ahhh we all know Bandit Kieth won. Time Machine not only doesn't work the way they described in the show but how they figured Joey not losing LP from the battle itself who knows. Also can u imagine how busted Pillager would be in the actual TCG? Confiscation, The Forbidden Sentry and Delinquent Duo are considered some of the most broken cards in the game, but The Pillager blows all three out of the water since you not only gain hand knowledge but u get the card your opponent has!
After Shield and Sword card then Keith attacks..shouldn’t Joey lose life points from that since Graverobber doesn’t stop life points from being dropped

It's been awhile since I've watched this duel but I don't recall Joey having too much trouble with Keith in the duel. And once he get's control he keeps it all the way to the final play.
In the sub, Keith used a pistol on Pegasus. They had to remove that in the dub.
Yea ,also in the manga, both Keith and Pegasus die in this arc.
In the anime, both are still alive though only Pegasus appears more than once after, including in GX
"Pegasus! I'm going to point at you very aggressively!"
Joey beat on his own but Yugi without Millenium Puzzle was almost wiped out by Keith and was helped by Zorc intervention.
Joey is a top 3 duelist in this whole show. There are times where he shows he has promise to even be the best
One of my oldie favs..Keith was slick out classed
Well, Keith acted like a big shot, 1 time too many, and this time, it came back and bit him in the rear.
I love Joey's Brooklyn accent!☆
This footage was recorded.... in America
Please Finish the English Dub for the Final season of GX and 5D's
Just watch em subbed dawg. It’s a better overall experience anyway
People that watch in dub are wack
Yu-Gi-Oh! is always good memories
I don't see how Graverobber negates battle damage Joey takes from Keith destroying his dragon. Joey should have lost.
He had just enough life points around 50.
Nope. Joey had 450 LP, and would have lost 600 from Slot Machine.
Not Graverobber. Time machine. Graverobber just copies the effects,
Time machine negates any battle damage you would’ve suffered from the destroyed monster
This duel is just who can cheat more without getting caught
Joey's not cheating though
Joy never cheated. He played fairly.
Except for the part where his red eyes got destroyed so he wouldve taken life point damage and lost the duel...
@@manueltejeda9328 Nah, at this point in the series Time Machine negated battle damage. The same thing happened earlier on in the duel.
@@manueltejeda9328
When Keith used Time Machine, he didn't lose life points either.
It’s impossible to have a yugioh anime now. All the battle would end in one turn that would take 3 episodes each
Joey *nods*
Keith: Thanks 0:39
Do more of this please.
Bring out the Blue-Rays
This duel was awesome
You can just watch the full duel on Netflix
I agree
And for free on Tubi.
I don’t get why they removed s 1,2,4,5 like why did they only put 3 ?!
And on peacock
Then after being killed by Pegasus using black magic, Pegasus's Protégé revives him to find out who killed Pegasus and Keith tells him it was Yugi. So Protégé gets the Wicked Gods made by Pegasus to keep the Gods in check in case they got out of hand (Totally not like with Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon in the Pyramid of Light Movie) to get revenge and gives Keith one of them and he has a rematch with Joey. Its called Yugioh R The Manga.
Lol, I remember the beginning of this duel too. He said spellcasters can't attack machine monsters because they're immune to magic.
there should be a continuous spell or trap card with that effect.
@@jayclearmen411 Or an archetype. How Trickstars are about burn. But n every monster of a specific archetype of machines.
We not gone act like yugioh had the hardest opening theme song ever man i swear
Can someone explain, i feel like im missing something simple, was red eyes in defense? Or is there an anime only effect i missed? How did joe not hit zero life points
In the anime, Time Machine seems to have the unnoted effect of restarting the battle with the destroyed monster back on the field. So since the battle never happened, the player doesn’t suffer any LP loss.
It happened earlier too with Barrel Dragon vs Thousand Dragon, so if Joey should have lost LP here, then Kieth should have already lost.
That Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon was such a cool card in the anime.
Too bad its mostly useless in real life given its terrible summoning condition.
it's summoning condition is quite easy. Try not sucking.
All it has is a higher base ATK compared to REBD w/ Metalmorph by a measly 100.
ost used for the duel?
nvm found it it's the red eyes theme
Keith: Grrr..THIS DUEL DOESN'T COUNT!
It would have been cool to bandit Keith was in the battle city tournament with this barrel dragon being the prize
Love how the writers didn’t really care how the game is supposed to be played and they just threw random stuff and made up cards for Joey and Yugi to win.
Also: not only was this duel the best of duelist kingdom but perhaps the greatest upset in original Yu-Gi-Oh!
We need more cards from the anime and more Joey/red eyes support to make them competitive
I love the grave robber how he cackles irs like psyche got you!!!
My boy you rocked!!!!
Lol graverobber only steals spell cards and you take 2000 damage if you use it but then again the old Yu-Gi-Oh had a ton of mistakes but that's why we love it 👌🏿
Anime effects are different than the real life cards kept that in mind..
Time machine is ok but Graverobber is broken. But it balances Joey's trash deck.
Its best not to think about it. lol
Do you remember the decks of Zygor and Sid ( the other friends of bonz and bandit Keith)
If Joey had an archenemy, Bandit Keith would be the closet thing.
Always wondered that if Joey had loss somehow, would Pegasus have allowed it? He knew he was cheating, so woukd he have just given Joey the victory regardless?
I missed a lot Yu Gi Oh
I love Keith's raspy voice!!
Hooray! Joey won! Lashings of ginger beer for everyone!
Still doesnt make sense how joey won but sure. He should have taken the damage 😂
I can't help but expect Keith to add an "in America" somewhere.
I saw this for the manga the other day.
Amazing
Joey should’ve lost when his dragon was destroyed by the Slot Machine, but bc of the technicality of the show, they could’ve given the Time Machine card an extra effect or they completely messed up
Keith didn't lose life points when Time Machine was activated.
Just make an online simulator already
Imagine a Blue-Eyes White Metal Dragon
Ooooo more like Steel Blue-Eyes White Dragon
How the fuck you remember the names of the cards when they're not in display!
Bandit Keith lost to Joey Wheeler...IN AMERICA!
But graverobber also has the effect of if he uses the spell or trap he is going to take damage against his life points
Since each player only *has* 2000 LP in this season of the anime, they removed that cost. Also, Graverobber could steal anything - not just Spell cards.
It's best to just assume that Pegasus designed cards that were totally broken and only started nerfing them years later.
@@DaRkLoRdZoRc I see, they took out the effects of any cards designed to hurt the player for LP if they activate it like with Graverobber and the effect was appended to steal anything monster, spell, or trap since each player only had 2000 LP in this particular season of the anime
So a few years later within DM, Pegasus started refining them to be closer to the real world OCG/TCG
I've always wondered who inherited his deck i would like to see an inheritor use his deck
Bandit Keith the uncrowned Champion in America
Haha, ahhh we all know Bandit Kieth won. Time Machine not only doesn't work the way they described in the show but how they figured Joey not losing LP from the battle itself who knows. Also can u imagine how busted Pillager would be in the actual TCG? Confiscation, The Forbidden Sentry and Delinquent Duo are considered some of the most broken cards in the game, but The Pillager blows all three out of the water since you not only gain hand knowledge but u get the card your opponent has!
When Keith activated Time Machine, he didn't lose any life points. It's amazing how guys have selective memories.
Woo! (pumps up fist) Way a go, Joey!
Take a shot everytime you see an IN AMERICA joke
That's y I love red eyes lol so much more potential..
After Shield and Sword card then Keith attacks..shouldn’t Joey lose life points from that since Graverobber doesn’t stop life points from being dropped
No, because when Keith activated Time Machine, he didn't lose life points either, which was the exact card Graverobber stole.
Love how Joey such a player in this duel and his duel with yugi. Then he gets nurfed in the beginning of battle city technicality beat evil Marik , beat valon, too exhausted to beat Mai but got nerfed by Siegfried on kaiba tournament. Joey last anime duel and he gets nerfed. Should have gone out like a champ.
Yea, why many fans didnt like what they did to Joey agasint Ziegfeld
But fun fat, manga (and canon wise) Joey’ last duel in the series is with Marik.
