Can EAL Break 90 from 8,200 Yards? - Front 9

- Erik Anders Lang takes on another Break 90 challenge, this time at one of the longest courses in the world. The Ross Bridge golf course, found on the famed Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, seems like it was built not by Robert Trent Jones - but by Bryson DeChambeau.
Ross Bridge tops out at 8,200 yards, which is almost 2,000 yards longer than the tees an average golfer would play from. To play the course from the tips is to drastically shrink anything you’ve come to know about your own golf game. The greens are enormous, the elevation changes are drastic, and the fairways are exaggerated beyond belief. The only small thing on the property is you.
See how Erik does in the first half of this course vlog, and check back in next week to catch the back nine. It just might come down to the final hole.

I think what is under appreciated in this is the music. Whomever edits this, I notice this always, you do a fantastic job.
So true. fades in/out perfectly, not too loud, etc
Completely agree! The music is perfect! Especially with the mood and how he's playing
Agreed, fly tunes.
It's all royalty free music
My guy!
6:07 "hot illegal items" was golden
On hole 7, take an unplayable and drop back in the bunker
“Hot illegal items” put that on a shirt haha
Honestly, this series & channel, in general, is completely unmatched.
Without a doubt!! Love this channel
EAL is an unmatched human. The things I would do just to play even one hole with him
You’ve never seen “No laying up”
Totally. I love the little details like how they change the colour and style of the drop down infographic and ball tracer.
@@johnnyhunter yup! I am learning a lot myself!
Couldn't click on this one any faster! Love the Breaking 90 series!
Thanks Steve. Where should we go next?
Ireland
@@RandomGolfClubFilms First course that comes to mind right now would be Oakmont, but winter in Pittsburgh might make that one a difficult ask, so maybe TPC Sawgrass, although maybe that's too cliche?
Break 90 series is easily the best series.

Ohhhhh... the drop-down infographic matches the flags that day. **chef's kiss** Really nice touch, production team.
“A tap in 9...that should not be uttered...” 🤣🤣🤣
The reality of my golf game vs my expectations is what always brings me back. I love the challenge. I adore my good days and have never let my bad days get to me or bring me down. I try to look at each bad shot as something to try and not repeat again which is of course impossible in the eyes of the golf gods. Never the less it's definitely a part of my life that I always look forward to doing at each and every opportunity and knowing that I may never be any better than average doesn't bother me one little bit. I'm not playing to become perfect, I'm playing because it is perfectly fun.
I work across the street at oxmoor valley, ross is tough! The greens are actually bent grass and roll so fast. Glad you came to the trail man, love all of your series!
"Oh, it's got quite a lot of break...No, I guess it doesn't have any break at all." - Me expecting Tour quality greens at my muni course.
I'll start studying for finals.. as soon as I finish watching this lol
The music is FANTASTIC. Especially the dramatic moment in the woods when it really got intense. First video I’ve watched of yours. Will be back.
I really appreciate your courage in posting these videos such as this. Putting it right out there! Enjoy your work.
Ross Bridge is majestic. A beast from the black tees. Worth playing from the tips for the views alone.
I’ve played this course! Love the track and kudos to you for playing from the tips lol takes a lot of courage to tee it up against that length. Love the series.
Cool to see some shots of the crew working around Eric, really goes to show the amount of work that's put in. Can't wait for part 2
I love these videos. I dont know how many times ive said this but I love your setup to your videos and I love how you make your videos so relatable even though you are better than your average golfer. I am a BIG fan of EAL!
Hooking it left constantly then getting to a hole where you need to draw it left and you slice it straight right into the woods is one of the most fitting visual anecdotes of what it's like to play golf. I love it.
My all time favorite series! Erik you have the best job in the world.
This is the best series on RUclips. You should go to Pinehurst No. 2 next from the tips. That would be a great video
"I'm really falling in love with these videos", Erik, I could not agree more. Keep up the great work!
Absolutely love the course vlog style videos, keep up the amazing work!
Loving the Ennio Morricone style music on this one!
Oh yeah, and that course is amazing 😍
These are my favorite course vlogs on RUclips
The course vlogs/break 90s are so satisfying to watch, great work sir
Loving the iconic slow mo club twirl as you step up to your shots!
Great video as always. Love this series!
Great series! I look forward to watching these whenever I see them appear in my notifications
This course looks beautiful! It has a nice classic design, but fair and challenging at times. The bunkers are in tough spots, but it looks like you have some wide fairways to maneuver around as well. Keep up the good work EAL, especially with breaking 90!
Elliot with the top-notch editing!
Great Video and amazing golf course!
Time for a new What's In the Bag video I think. Great stuff as always!
Awesome video Erik, this course looks amazing! Hole 4 is absolutely absurd! 226 yard par 3 over water?!
Watched this video 3 years ago. Played Ross Bridge yesterday from the tips. Shot a 97 (hcp is an 8 so my net was 80) Legitimately the hardest round I’ve ever played. Glad I did it but next time I’ll just play from the orange tees.
The random commentary makes these videos absolute gold! I love thise style of editing
Got the notification and had to take a work break for this one! Break 90 videos are always excellent!
I love these types of videos. Whether its break 90 or random 18. Keep them coming, EAL!
So glad you guys used a shot tracer this vid. Love seeing the flight paths
You're right about the Georgia vibes this course gives off. Nearly every hole reminded me of a hole from one Georgia course or another that I've played.
Loving the tee tracing, give your editor a thumbs up for that.
Just found your channel. This is the most relatable content I’ve ever watched. Subbed!
Really looking forward to the candid "purchasing more balls at the turn with my Chase card" scene in the second video
Great Video love watching these
A 9 and an 8 on the same side Eric! Crazy how fine the lines are between making a birdie every hole and making a big number. Excited to see you pull it back on the 2nd side
The rare and elusive Tee-Tracer! These videos are awesome, keep it up EAL!
Great commentary, brutal course! Nothing like the overcorrection followed by overcorrection, so familiar.
When you bladed it out of the bunker, you could have declared the ball unplayable and played another shot from the bunker (adding one penalty stroke)
^^^
I think you even doesn't have to declare it unplayable. I think you can just play a new ball from your last spot with a 1 stroke penalty.
The shot tracers keep getting better 👍
Our editor is the best!
Played this course a few times; only once from the tips. Beautiful course that actually seems to play longer than the distances on the card, it can be a beast. And I assume we won't be seeing a RGC at Winged Foot any time soon!
i do love the videos EAL, looks like a call to vice is coming. gonna need another dozen
Great vid. Place looks sick.
The bit from about 14:45 to 17:00, the spy in trouble bit. That's the golfing equivalent of doing you taxes. Especially the counting all ya shots on fingers and toes when ya run out of fingers bit haha
The 2 best RGC videos: Break 90 and Random 18
Great looking course, great footage team, loving the work. nice to clock off work and wind down with the slight drawl of EAL! I'd have taken a provisional on 7 and not found the one in the trees! even though they are 90% air... there was a lot there to make it 5% possible to get out of them..
Hey Love the videos and I love that my home state is getting some love from the golfing world!
Ironically, watching the "Remember Your First Birdie?" AIG yesterday I thought about my first birdie, which came at RTJ Grand National.
Live not too far from this course and I've played it from the tips before and it's a beast! I can definitely sympathize with you!
These r easily the best vids u upload and I would watch one everyday
Love the background music! Keep it up
“Hit it straighter than I wanted to” 😂 wish I could say the same
Another great 'break 90' Erik... keep plugging away my friend!! Btw ... how is Snowball?? Havent seen the guy for a while.
Love these!
I love the thought about forgetting most of your days unless something magical happens. I guess it’s a good reminder to try to make everyday magical in one way or another. Doesn’t always have to be a hole-in-one! 😂🤣
This is my comfort video I watch it so much
Hey Buddy. It’s all good. Killed those 5-8 footer putts. That’s a good day!! I don’t envy the cameras following my rounds. I do envy your camera shots though.
For me, the "taxes" of golf has to be short game practice. Chipping around the green and bunker shots always make me feel better
So much respect for EAL for giving us the good shots and the bad. Most would have deleted the footage and replayed the hole after that 9.
Awesome video brother
Love the break 90 videos! Let me know if you come to central wisconsin to hit SentryWorld Golf in stevens point
True Detective vibe on the music.
These courses are all really good. Each complex of the 7 or 8 has 2 18 hole courses, some have an 18 hole par 3 course as well and are normally in great condition and fairly cheap to play.
Beautiful, Beautiful course
The shot on 7 in the trees. As my good friend always says "elect for putter" hahaha
Would love to see how this shot tracer is done. I’m sure it’s done in After Effects, but would love to see a workflow.
"birds...look at those birds.." lol
A guy we used to play with had the self proclaimed title of “world’s worst single digit”. I think you need that on your hat lol.
I live in Alabama and this is a course of legend. I want to play it so bad, can’t afford it right now. (The lost balls not the greens fees) Looks so beautiful
This is an absolute beautiful course
Love this!! What shot tracer app do you all use??
So happy I got a winged paw hat before the C&D arrived! I bet that guy that said "membership isn't for you" had something to do with it. haha
By then end of 7, I had forgotten what hole you were on, and was waiting to see the final score soon...for 18 holes...damn I need nap.
One day I want to travel to the US just to play loads of courses 😍
What shot tracer do you use ? It's so amazing, keep it up love your vids
Played this course. Insanely beautiful
Wow I'd love to play a course like that
Man, nothin better than an orange shot tracer
7 iron = ball was slightly above your feet, making you go heel balance on the way back and staying in pocket for the return, looked awesome
Hole 9 had RGC rule 17b in play! Totally relate to it 😂
This course looks so pure man
Thought I was tuning in for an episode of 'Narcos' with that intro music. ;)
Nice video -- Who's that Riley kid? Looks like he knows what he's doing.
The concept of the "emotional spine" seems to me an extremely powerful one. If we treat our emotions as we would our physical condition it might help to flatten the emotional curve and retain the all important calm we need and love on the course. Breathe.
In the spring or summer of 21’ you NEED to head to French Lick Indiana and play the Pete Dye course. Built on the second highest point in Indiana where LEGEND Larry Bird is from, tipped out 8,100 yards it is a MONSTER
Erik plays some of the nicest courses in the world and shows us every tree on them
😂😂
My god, this course is beautiful...gotta love a Jones course where you can be on the green and still not have a shot
How are you get the shot tracer with your video set up? Also what video set up are you using to make these great videos?
Oddly therapeutic watching Erik hit shockers
Through the trees first shot , 4-5 iron all day nice punch, aim for the top of that hill and hope it hits it to slow down... and pray..
You should give all 12 RTJ courses a try. Looks like you had a blast at Ross Bridge
