Nice review. Note: while USB-C defaults to 5V for most devices; USB-C can deliver at 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V and 20V, which allows 60-100W (20V max at 3-5A max).
I like my TS100. i never tighten down the tip bolt, I just pop the tips in and out as needed. You really pretty much have to buy more and different tips. what i don't like is I have to push a button on it to get it to start heating up. wish it would do that as soon as i applied power, but not a big deal really. i painted the right button with pink nail polish so i'd know which one it is without thinking. circular chisel tip is the best for most stuff.
Cheers for the review Andrew, another excellent Sequre soldering iron by the looks of it. I picked up the SQ-001 after you reviewed it, I couldn’t believe I’d been struggling all these years with a cheap Draper one. I used to dread soldering, and used to put it off or buy connector adaptors, but now it’s something I look forward to!
I bought one of these after seeing your review. It works well as a soldering iron but...the construction i quite flimsy, one of the screws for holding the tips stripped within couple day's use but most significantly the 'earth' screw on the rear of the pen as well as the tip is live! I get a 'buzz' from my metal holder in contact with the tip. No response from Sequre. Y
@@AndrewNewton That's good to hear. Do you leave the tip attached all the time? I take it off to fit it in the provided case (it's a pity the case isn't a bit longer). Also, the transformer that comes with kit only allows operation at 50W rather than the rated 60W. I mostly use mine for (HF) radio electronics so typically don't use a battery for power. Y
Not bad although I'd be interested in it's thermal capacity & recovery time. A quick test soldering some 12awg wire to a couple of XT60's in quick succession would do it
USB C PD no doubt - the Power Delivery variant. I am using a TS80P - and that's easily powered by USB C.
Nice review.

Just picked up a 2nd sq001, at a great price, as a spare/field iron. Couldn't be without one since buying my first one several months ago.
Good to see you!
USB C can deliver up to 20v 5A in power delivery (PD) mode

Where's my pink nail polish! Good idea

Great to hear. They are surprisingly good tools
Excellent soldering iron, quick to heat and makes precise work easier. Great video - many thanks:
You are welcome!
Just bought one, love it.👍
Good choice!
Excelente ferramenta
40 seconds in, I ordered it :D Got it, love it :) Thanks :)
Nice one, it works well

Mine is still going strong

I'm a little skeptical of that too. Even some full sized irons have trouble keeping up with that kind of soldering.
I use C4 tip in my TS100, with 5S 18650 pack it will put 8awg on XT90 continously faultlessly but it does need the 4S or 5S power to do that
I'll demo some soldering in the next video
@@AndrewNewton Brilliant. Thanks! 🙂
Hi Mr Newton I'm Omer form Sudan and iwnte invite you to come Sudan . I'm very very happy when I watching you
Very nice of you
Many thanks Omer.
Is the any disadvantages over the more expensive soldering iron you showed at the start?
Not that I have found, but this is the only test I have done so far
Ok 👍 thanks for replying
Ohh...I miss the shade & planes hanging behind...😢!!!!
Me too. They will return eventually
You can’t use any USB-c cable to power it. You have to use a proprietary cable.
Hello Andrew, are you in your new home now? Did the move all work out well?
Not yet, months away
@@AndrewNewton good going until then. Hope you and your family are well and healthy
nice review, any luck with a new home yet?
Not yet. Covid delays
Looking good, as you are in your new place #1.
A long way off unfortunately. Only just listed our house but no-one can inspect in person
I told you to leave the planes…. I would gave broken the rules!!
Seriously, hope it lifts soon & you can get a great price & move on.
Mine after 2 weeks start to go red hot melting out of control .It wondred me how come it could go to melting temp in a matter of secounds!!!
That's a worry. Shouldn't be possible
Sitting here watching with my legs crossed. That thing looks like a... a... a probe. 🤪
Eeew
