    She was transformative; got into movies on her looks and couldn’t act worth a damn, but in a very short time became a truly gifted comedienne and well-rounded player in general. Her image was often so salacious it’s a wonder some of them got released - even for pre-code. No matter how trashy her character somehow her charm put her over - check ‘’Red Headed Woman’’. Sensational.

    ❤Jean's father was a doctor and at 16 she married Charles McGrew who had inherited wealth. After her divorce she achieved world fame in films. Her comedic talent was considerable. I don't think this qualifies as necessarily "humble beginnings ." Her death at 26 shocked the world.

      Her father was a dentist. True, not exactly humble, but the public likes rags-to-riches stories, like Joan Crawford's, as opposed to Katharine Hepburn's fancy-schmantzy New England roots.

      On every Harlow site, somebody chimes in, "She wasn't pretty," or "She was ugly." Like the kids say, SMH. How could such stunning beauty not be noticed?

      @@akrenwinkle The fashion and especially make-up of the time were not great. Horrible eyebrow make-up. I don't think they did justice to Jean's beauty.

  • @szee8588
    @szee8588 10 месяцев назад +1

    This is so inaccurate. I don't think money was her focus, maybe her mother's and stepfather's. She wasn't serious about acting at the start but everyone pushed her into it. She wanted to be happily married with a family. Her friend said she would cry and wonder if she made a mistake divorcing her first husband and getting an abortion back then. She did as she was told back then - her mother really controlled her.

    Her nose was to big, the chin was splitted, the cheeks to massive. The hair to blond. But she was Jean Harlow, victim of her time and her parents. I hope, the people, responsible for her early death, were eaten by worms, still alive in their graves. She should have been more Louise Brooks, than Jean Harlow...
