- North America’s quintessential land yacht got a full rework for the 1991 model year. It was still a monster that wallowed through corners and needed constant steering correction. The fact it was given a huge whack with the ugly stick and had a 5.0L V8 made just 170 horsepower - any self-respecting four-cylinder makes that today, and returns way better fuel economy. So far it sounds like a disaster, but the reality was back then if you needed to drive across Canada, few other vehicles offered the same level of comfort, stretch-out space and, dare I say, reliability.
It's loss will never be lamented, but at the time it served a purpose.

(The segment originally aired on Motoring TV 1990 Episode #23)
I drive my 93 with a 305 in 2023. Love it ❤. So much smoother than new cars. 😊
That’s nothing to be proud of.
I STILL remember the first time I ever sat in one!!!! It was at Tom Chevrolet on Route 1 (The Automile) in Norwood, MA on Saturday, March 24, 1990 (also the day that the last episode of ALF aired). That was also my first look at the then-new S-10 Blazer 4-door.
I had a 91 Caprice with the 305 and then later bought a 96 with the lt1 Corvette 350, they were great cars.
Awesome. 🏁
96 4.3 v8 is my first car. love it
The good old days. Those were the days when consumers bought real sedan. Look at the Sable wagon and Spirit on the road. Those cars have replaced by Escape and Cherokee today. Caprice does look better as a wagon than a sedan. Same as its Roadmaster cousin.
Mary Barra, you need to watch this video
And you need to bring back these cars.
Instead of today's plastic fantastic car's and SUVs.
Bring back a body on frame vehicle please
Very love caprice 1991👌🏼😍
2:45 he's not wrong about that
Good old days
