I got two neutrals recently, both for mistakes the buyer made. I sell antique German animals, and I list their size in cm and inches. I photograph next to a ruler and a soda can. Two customers complained that the animals were smaller than expected. I get neutrals because they don't know what 4 inches look like? And Ebay is totally unhelpful -- they won't change feedback, no matter how ludicrous it is, apparently. The system should be overhauled -- customers leave neutral or negative feedback because they're not happy with their own decision to buy an item. That is unfair.

Regional Goodwill sent a text saying, "lower prices on key items." Walked in and saw a plain blue t-shirt marked $6.99 and walked out. They still sometime miss things, but generally are too overpriced.

My local Goodwill operates under the same region as yours.. They had got outrageous with their pricing, and their sales started suffering. A few weeks ago the regional managers came in and told them to price things more reasonably. Some things are still pretty ridiculous, but overall it has been more fairly priced

I went to a goodwill to look at glass and cups - found a nice pair of frosted vintage mugs from a small town in california with no price tag on them, brought them to the register and the guy up there said "these are going to be $20 each because of the gold rims" and I about choked he was like "yeah unfortuantely its the gold rims" and it was a quick no. from me.. it's gotten out of hand considering they receive their goods for free
I love watching videos Kevin and Heather i love you guys so much good videos keep up the good work yard sale garage sale flea market so much more fun sale on here love it
I was told by the empolyees the managers are now required to look things up on ebay before they price them and anything worth more than $50 goes to their online store.
It’s a shame, they get all the items for free and mark it up so much, that even the poor people can’t purchase items. Crazy world we live in. Everything has value, but when they try to sell things at retail prices, it’s a no go for me. Goodwill sucks. I’m happy that it’s yard sale season. My goodwill is doing two discounts on Sunday. They do 50% on one color and 75% off another color. I guess my store is testing this out. I still like the bins. Have a great day. Love your channel!!
Closed my ebay store going to sell on other venues, tired of being ripped off ebay just as bad as goodwill. Glad it's just a hobby leave it to those could need it to feed their family.
The "trick" with Goodwill is you have to be smarter/more knowledgeable than the person doing the pricing. Generally, I find Goodwill is a lousy place to source, as their prices are high, really high. Occasionally I do find deals in the clearance center (pound/bin store). Sales here are on fire too. Had my first $1000 day. My average is $2000/month, so getting half a month' worth of sales in one day was great.
Our local GWs have not only raised prices, they no long have sales. In the past, Wednesday was senior day (30%off). Older (different each week) color tags were 50% off and once a month they had the entire store on sale 50% off. Now nothing, they have some sort of plan where you have a tag and after you spend so much (north of $20) they give you a small discount. That's it. Another problem is the stores are full of junk. If they get any good donations they are selling them elsewhere. To make a long story short, I seldom buy anything at GW these days.
Our Goodwill has a lot of new products more so than used products. Also one of our favorite Thrifts stores have new managers and their prices are now insane. Way above eBay prices
I love Goodwill sticker shock, when $2 day comes around those items are usually still there. I just grabbed like 10 Vera Bradley new with tags. That were marked up $25-35 for 2 bucks a piece.
@lisad1623 we have color of the week as well. But on Thursdays that color drops to $2. I'm in Arizona. I've scooped up wake boarding boots that had marked for $100 for $2. If it sits for the 8 week color cycle. They want it out of there. And they don't have bins locally to send it too. So I go early in the week to eye things and then go back Thursday to see if it's still there.
Our Goodwill has been running a sale this summer. Each week clothes with a certain color tag is half price. I know they may do this at other Goodwills but normally don’t at ours. Anyway, it has actually made it worth going in. We are spoiled here I know. I travel to Florida or other states and can’t believe thrift store prices! Our SA is still $1.98/ shirts except for special items. I know we are lucky.
Our Goodwill is gotten crazy. Perfect example is an unsealed Michael Jackson Thriller album that sells for 10 bucks at most they had priced at 75 dollars. I laughed out loud. The girl running the register said yeah i told them idiots in the back they were crazy 😂
In the UK we have Charity shops who pay no business rates, dont pay for their stock and pays only manager wages. They sell at silly prices and sometimes new stock in competition to small local business. Charity starts at home. Items goto land fill if they do not sell at the set price....just not right!
Here in Central Wisconsin I quit going to Goodwill several years ago. Their prices are outrageous clothing is priced like new pricing it is not worth my time or gas.
@@uwsupergirl I own a number of them. I have photos of my grandpa wearing them in the 30s. Not to mention my dad. I'm originally from the south shore of Lake Superior.
The shelves at my local Good will were so full, they were just leaving the loading carts on the sales floor full of "new" stuff sitting out. Perhaps that's why they priced a very nice crockpot that retails for $70 at $15.
Goodwill has raised their prices on junk items that probably shouldn't be sold in the store. It has definitely changed since the pandemic hit and is getting worse.
Funkos can be great, you just have to know which ones and categories. Horror is a fantastic category overall. Sports, especially mascots, can be very good too, as well as some music Pops.
Goodwill and even my church thirft have raised prices. Its a shame. I see folks who cannot pay those prices. I even told a man to go next door to big lots to grab new pants and shirt for lower price than Goodwill had. He did.
Goodwill has quite a business plan. While they are technically a 501C3 (not-for-profit), the management make very good money, while they in many cases pay less than federal minimum wage to their employees, under the guise of providing "training." Imagine opening a retail store where all your merchandise is free!
Went yesterday and saw a Starbucks mug for 29.99. Looked online and it sales for 9.99 plus shipping. There were listings for 29.99, but none sold at that price. I stick to 1/2 off days or color of the week.
Yes, neutral feedback is up. I think it could be because eBay changed the feedback form to where it appears to be asking for feedback on the *item*, and not the seller or the buying experience, yet the buyer's comments do get attached to us as sellers. It's been like this for months now, without any change. Ebay clearly doesn't give a hoot about the sellers.
The Goodwill only gives senior discounts one day a week, in my area. St. Vinnies thrift which is also a large one around here, does it every day of the week.
Our Goodwill's in Wilson NC area have set prices for clothing. $4.19 for jeans men's and women's, kids clothes $3.19 , purses $2.49. I wish we had color days for discounts. Salvation army does color days and sat 99 cent per item of the color of the week.
My location in Texas jeans and shirts mens and womens 8.99--24.99. Childrens 1.49-2.49. 50% color of the week with a kicker. I was in the store Fri, they were pulling items that were the nexts weeks color. I only go on Tues when I get 30% off old lady discount day.
My local goodwills never have anything good. Its all online and they sell it for dam near ebay prices. I used to buy in bulk or combine lots to try to make something, but after their "handling fees" and overpriced shipping charges, the profit is gone and I havent even made it to ebay! My June sales are up! Yesterday I broke even with my May sales
Had a few neutral feedbacks in the last year, a couple about USPS taking forever to get the items to them and 1 where the game worked but took a while to load.
I add that type of neutral feedback to the 'why people suck' list. I've received similar feedback and makes me realize how people either don't think and/or they feel righteous enough to need their voice to be heard regardless of reality. Keep on truckin'.
I've sold a bunch this month! So I agree it has been up for me on Ebay also. When it comes to neutral feedback, I have been lucky to have never received neutral feedback, I am currently still sitting at 100% on feedback - Goodwill prices have gone way up! I still find some gems, but the prices have doubled or in some cases tripled in price.
My eBay sales are better because had to take time off for a surgery. One of the first items we listed and sold was a Pittsburgh Magazine. We bought it for 50 cents and sold it for $418. Those sales make me nervous because I think they won't be happy even though the listing was clear, Waiting on feedback.
I rarely go in a Good Will any longer. The closest to me is about an hour away but I used to go when I was in that town but it is so ridiculous with their prices that it is not even worth the effort. Plus I Have a big issue with that goodwill writing prices with a Sharpie marker or items that it won't come off of such as a back pack!! On the fabric!! Absurd!
Most of the goodwills in my area are under the same umbrella but there e small differences in pricing. They’ve made some changes recently that stink, no more gold member discounts 😢
My Goodwills have outpriced me. Sunday does have a $1.50 sale on the previous week's color (used to be $1). Anything brand name is $15-$25, even if it's trashed. Wanted $25 for a pair of Nike sneakers. Didn't sell even at half-price week. I picked them up for $1.50 though!
People don't seem to understand the difference between a product review, usps review, or personal review for not knowing what they were buying. I got a negative, "though no fault of the seller, my package was stolen" and I got a neutral for waist size on one pair slightly stretched and bigger than the other pair she bought from me, which was stated in the description and READ in the title. I have more negatives and neutrals now than I have ever had at one time. I had been at 100% with no neutrals for years.
I took my mom for a quick trip to the Cali coast and of course hit up some Goodwills along the way. I notice they are selling more new items (Family Dollar type items) and everything was expensive (9.99 for t-shirts). I did better at some of the community thrifts in the area, I found a Scooby Doo Fiesta mug which I had no idea existed! My last neutral feedback was due to the buyer not liking that I sent the item in an Amazon box when they purchased from eBay.🤷♀️
I send EVERYTHING in Amazon boxes. I also have a sticker on the box saying something about saving the planet with This box. I currently am selling stuff off from my home and really don’t have money for new boxes. Is it clean? ✔️ Is it sturdy? ✔️ am I keeping it out of the landfill a little bit longer? ✔️ Reusable box it is then.
My Goodwill has gotten definitely worse since last year. They've gone crazy with pricing. I manage to squeeze a few good things sometimes but it's gonna have to be garage sales more at this point.
Ours here in NC are like a department stores. There are 3 the same within 20 miles. The prices are really high depending on the brand name. Ours does not do color tags anymore. My best one at Goodwill was a top from Target. The Target tag was still on it and the Goodwill price was $2 more. Funny 😂 So we make our visits that used to be weekly maybe once a month or so.
Just found your channel and spent Sunday with you!. I do have a question.... my Husband passed of Covid in 2021 and had to sell my house and downsize. Had estate sale for my Hub. I had huge yard sale but still moved into my new tiny digs with way to much. So 1 to 2 times a week i leave a free box at the end of my drive way. But I still have stuff that I hope is worth money. I used to collect Toby Mugs and have boxes of them. Many old ones from Japan. Lot's of other stuff in my shed. How do i go on line and evaluate a price for all or one? And other stuff i want to let go of. My daughter doesn't want anything so there ya go!
I used to run a gw part of the reason I left was the greed. They'd do so much more sales and help out alot more people if not for all the greed. Crazy budgets on donated goods. Working for me Is better.
I just got a neutral from a buyer who was buying something for parts (said "parts" in the title) had communicated extensively with me before purchase and I took a super low parts offer just to move it on. He noted in the feedback that it didn't work. Really?!? So silly. And I got another neutral for someone who thought the colors didn't look the same as the photo, but the shoes were great. Both happened recently and both from people who made offers and emailed me first. People are funny.
Some Goodwill's in my area are better, some worse or were already really bad with prices a year ago. My closest and main one I go to has lowered the prices on many things back closer to what they use to be. New items or ones that resell for a lot, like shoes, are still priced up but not as much ($10 or $12 for a $35 pair now instead of $15 or $19). One other store is starting to figure it out and has lowered a few types of things, but not like my main store. I will continue to go and look each week, I mostly buy items on sale that week, we do have the two color sales here. With garage sale season in full swing it's not as necessary as during the winter. And I don't buy much, just two or three items each trip.
4 years ago, I was spending at least $400 weekly at Goodwill. Now I am lucky to spend $2 weekly. (ON THE POSITIVE SIDE) Now I can sell items on Ebay Cheaper than Goodwill prices. I just have to source other places
Great video. Yes my neutral feedback lately has sucked! I have had a 100% positive feedback for years and I work very hard to keep it that way, however 2 negative feedbacks and it has dropped my feedback rating , to about a 98% and I’m not happy about, but whatever, I figure that’s just the world today, what can you do? Oh well. Yes my goodwill also have lost their minds, I think they have not trained their employees properly on how to run comps , you certainly can’t go by listings, you have to look at solds! 😢 I don’t think goodwill cares what I think, obviously. Thanks Mr. Brown, love your videos
Love the Kaybee shirt! I remember back in 1988 I think when the teenage mutant Ninja turtle toys came out They were sold out everywhere but I found just Michelangelo at KB toys in the mall. It was right next to a Barbizon if anyone remembers those
Problem with goodwill they mark u prices to keep resellers away. Employees hide stuff for family and other people can’t afford them. Stuff won’t sell because to high are then thrown away or sell at the bins store for a lot cheaper. Lower the price so many things won’t go to the bins for so cheap. Long run you make more lowering the price a bit.
It's not just Goodwill most of these big thrift stores have dimwits doing the pricing. I was at one, 2 exact same items priced differently. One $1.99 and the other $7.99. The store would not let me have both for $1.99 each. Their exact words "thats the price".
My last Neutral said "Decent". Many times people just won't leave positive feedbacks or they leave stupid ones like .... I didn't like the look of monopoly token .. it was only super tiny and they were complaining about the details in it? I've also had people leave feedbacks that said "okay" or something stupid like that. It would make it better if more people left feedbacks. I also find that people buy many items and only ;eave one feedback now. We don't have any Goodwills here but we have Value Villages (which would be Savers in the US) and Salvation Army stores and I find prices in many of hose places have gotten to the point that I go to other stores now and get items for a 1/10th of their price. Some of them I just stopped going to because their prices are not even worth paying. Last time I was in those sores there wasn't many people in the them anymore. I wonder why. When you can go on Ebay and buy stuff for less then they are selling them including the shipping .... then I have to say have they lost their mind too.
I just got back from Goodwill in Massachusetts. Prices are out of control. Hats 8 to 10 dollars to start. Everything so overpriced. I remember when hats were 2.00 not long ago
Goodwill worse ..def not blanket pricing. Def mark up a lot of items here in Oklahoma. Sales are better on eBay this month for sure :) however that promoted listing percentage just keeps going up. (I know it’s an option but jeez!!) Have a great day Ya’ll!
The upscale Goodwill store called Deja Blue is now closing in my area and have 50-75% off the whole store. Is this happening nationwide with this store? Although I find most of the stuff in there to be mostly standard Red tag items.
Not only is Goodwill lost their minds on pricing, their new policy on waiting 24 hours to get something priced is INSANE! Also all of the new merchandise being sold there is ridiculous. This store is supposed to be fairly priced for underprivileged people to be able to buy things. Also they used to have things priced by clothing type and now it’s not that way! All T-Shirts used to be like $2.95 and now it depends on where in the country you are and also they sometimes come up with “it’s special “ and up-charge the heck out of it!
It would be great when you give your totals if you tell us how many days of sales that includes. I know you don't ship every day so shipping on Monday can include sales from Wed to Mon. I also get lots of neutrals. I also ignore them.
Most buyers who leave neutral or negative feedback think they are leaving it for ebay and NOT the actual seller. Unfortunately ebay does not have a way to educate buyers for anything they do on ebay. If you are a seller you must follow rules and get in big trouble if you don't but for buyers pretty much anything goes.
I’m retired and take care of 45 feral cats, including medical, hospitalizations.I used to make around 3k a month flipping, but since COVID I’m averaging around 300.00 a month.I keep trying, but can’t seem to sell anything.
I think it's $20 here.
I have 20+ Goodwills to choose from and their prices from store to store are all over the place. Some stores are way cheaper than others.
Love the buckle from my home town!
Wow, we don't have $2 sales. Only the color of the week. That would be great.🙁
@lisad1623 we have color of the week as well.
Ours doesn’t do color sales or senior discounts. No sales of any kind.
@commonwealthflipper that's just trash. I utilize what I mentioned here and they have Veterans & student discount on Sundays
I like your cabins, they are fascinating and different than many other sellers' garages. Love your content also. Regards from Calgary, Canada
It sold about 85 million copies - it must be really valuable! 😀😀😀
In the UK we have Charity shops who pay no business rates, dont pay for their stock and pays only manager wages. They sell at silly prices and sometimes new stock in competition to small local business. Charity starts at home. Items goto land fill if they do not sell at the set price....just not right!
It’s cool to see you also do Cary’s advice/motto, when in doubt, part it out.
Your wife is hilarious. Just like me and my southern ways. Lol. Thank you for sharing your reselling journey with all of us.
Haven't been to goodwill since last year. I use to spend thousands annually but that changed when all the good items stopped coming out.
Here in Central Wisconsin I quit going to Goodwill several years ago. Their prices are outrageous clothing is priced like new pricing it is not worth my time or gas.
Kevin if goodwill keeps raising prices it gonna bite them in there butts
I LOVE rain
Kevin, Stormy Kromer is a company in the Michigan UP. Has a great resale value.
Yep. I live just a few miles south of the UP in Northern WI and that's well known around here. Great hats!
Those Stormy Cramer caps retail for $50 they still make them and are great winter hats
Funkos can be great, you just have to know which ones and categories. Horror is a fantastic category overall. Sports, especially mascots, can be very good too, as well as some music Pops.
And they have the audacity to ask if you want to round up your change .
Goodwill and even my church thirft have raised prices. Its a shame. I see folks who cannot pay those prices. I even told a man to go next door to big lots to grab new pants and shirt for lower price than Goodwill had. He did.
I hate the no questions asked ebay return policy. I get burned for shipping to and from! 😮
Goodwill has quite a business plan. While they are technically a 501C3 (not-for-profit), the management make very good money, while they in many cases pay less than federal minimum wage to their employees, under the guise of providing "training." Imagine opening a retail store where all your merchandise is free!
My Goodwill prices are horrible here in Florida. I went to Salvation Army today. Spent like an hour came out with nothing very expensive. WORSE
Recently got back from FL. Was tempted… but not that tempted bc I drove straight past their Goodwill… twice 🤓
Yep. I never got nutruel feedback. Now got one. Loved product but said shipping high. It was about a pound and 1/2 and charged on the point. So weird.
And St. Vinnies is considerably less expensive than the Goodwill.
It really depends on the region. My town is alright. 100 miles north, there is nothing
Goodwill in Louisville is getting insane with prices. Just the other day they wanted $14.99 for a furby that had a corroded battery compartment.
Absurd!
I bet it was humid after the rain it almost always is near Buffalo NY
I see fast fashion mostly. If you see a decent brand clothing item it usually has stains, rips, etc. Goodwill would not put those items out in the past.
My granddaughter would love that cow .
Most of the goodwills in my area are under the same umbrella but there e small differences in pricing. They’ve made some changes recently that stink, no more gold member discounts 😢
I have all the Disney VHS movies that were my daughter's. 😊
I had been at 100% with no neutrals for years.
goodwill stores in az are all over the place on prices and usually on the higher end
I love both of your channels and get caught up when you go to garage sales. I looked around and hours have fone by 😂
Ours here in NC are like a department stores.
Stormy Chromer hat is made un Ironwood Michigan
Yes since Jan 12 neutral some like didn't like the style vintage wool sweater is heavy
I recently received neutral feedback on a NEW in original package refrigerator filter - because they "haven't used it yet". smh
Our goodwills are like here also. Way higher than just three months ago. Horrible!
It seems like Good will just raised everything but you can still find good deals.
I like this format much better
May was pretty good for me. June is so so. But still making sells.
It was right next to a Barbizon if anyone remembers those
Have a question for you…. Do you prefer Auctions or Buy it Now when you do EBay, and why?
Stormy Kromer is made in Ironwood Michigan in da UP.
My 17 year old’s friends still call me Miss Michele. I think it’s the proper way. I would cringe too!
(I know it’s an option but jeez!!)
Have a great day Ya’ll!
I ship 3-4 days a week almost every video is 2 days of sales
Neutral feedback is definitely up!
Haha.. I saw the video, where pepper went up there and knocked stuff down
Most buyers who leave neutral or negative feedback think they are leaving it for ebay and NOT the actual seller.
I also have 2 adult autistic sons and it seems like the last 4 years has been so down .any prayers would be appreciated by anyone❤
Apply for government grants. Start a non profit for taking care of the cats.
I care about you and for your dear sons. I’ll be praying for you!
Rain??? What's that? 106° here. Would LOVE rain
