Love your patience (falling tone). You are wonderful! (Falling tone) Do you know?(raising tone) If anybody watches, they sure learn intonation. May God bless this man.
I do love the way that you explained intonation ( pitch, rhythm ...), using music to explain rising, falling and circumflex. Your voice is gentle and clear.
The way they taught us is that the "wh" questions like those beginning with what, why, when etc. have a falling pitch/intonation at the end and the yes/no questions have a rising intonation. Again, according to what I was taught the only case when "wh" questions would have a rising pitch is when you ask for confirmation or if you are very surprised. Using your example "When does the meeting start?" would have a falling pitch normally. But it could have a rising pitch in situations when you are asking a confirmation or if you are very surprised or shocked (if you were just told that the metting starts at 6am for example).
This is so useful - I have been living in English speaking countries for 20 years now and I always wondered why people tended to butt in whilst in my turn in a conversation. The circumflex accent is enlightening!!! I will make a conscious effort to incorporate it into my conversations from this minute onwards. Thanks a million for this wonderfully helpful video.
Excellent video Sir! I learned profound things about intonation & inflection, had been using English for several years but never paid attention to intonation while speaking, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this knowledge, God bless you Sir !!!
Hello, I really enjoyed watching your video. It will help me sound a little more British (which obviously I'm not, I'm French but I did live many years in your wonderful England). Thank you so much, it will definitely help ! Take care, Emmanuelle
Hey! Firstly, your voice is amazing to listen to. Secondly, this is a very informative video about the different intonations available. It's really valuable & I really did learn a lot. THANKS
Lovely video. I'm very keen to understand why many people suggest using rising intonation in almost every line as means to "sounding more interesting" and as a british thing...
Very insightful. I feel like it's more about teaching how to better communicate and not just about language, which I like so much. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Excellent excellent video! I love your voice. But I find it a little bit difficult this subject 😪. I'm trying to improve my English every day. Greetings from Argentina!💟🌻
What a wonderful video!! Next time when I'm going to listen to someone, I will pay particular attention to rise and fall of intonation, this will be especially helpful when I will listen to audiobooks or speakers while giving speeches. Thanks.
Your voice is awesome. I am new to this channel but I was not able to Leave this video in middle. Please share some exercise, if you know to keep voice like you.
Very good dear Professor! Are you able to make scenes with people ( actors ) using these 3 patterns? I'd love to watch a short situation in every one of these 3 patterns! Thank you very much!
Your voice is very relaxing ... Can you please make a video of reading a story with Rising and falling intonations. That will be very helpful to practice intonation.
I just found out your channel and after this video I subscribed right away because I loved it! 💖 Right now I'm studying Intonation in my institute but I needed a more clear explanation and you helped me a lot! Your voice is so peaceful and pretty 💖 Thank you so much and lots of love from Argentina 🇦🇷💓
Great video, thanks! More examples would be really useful... examples of questions, of dialogues where we would use this fall rise fall intonation, etc...
The dream of my life is to master this awеsome Circumflex Inflection.. Now I know its name. I've been searching for this thing for a lot of time. but only from this video I got it. I find it the hardest thing to learn. Personaly, for me it is. Thank you. Starting practising..
I've just started working exclusively with international students at work and there's always a discrepancy between when I think they're finished speaking and when they're actually finished speaking. I also notice that they can't tell when I'm asking a question if I don't use a very specific wh-question format because they can't hear the rising intonation.
Because I come from an Arabic-speaking country, my ears can't distinguish between rising and falling intonation. For me, they're produced similarly. I would say, it can be helpful if you give examples of the same sentence pronounced either way. After all, I really enjoyed your video. Cheers!
your video is wonderful compared with other videos talking about that topic. However, it is still difficult for me and for years. You know I am supposed to be a teacher of English and when it comes to this particular point I usually use technology but i cannot correct my students. i do believe to a very far extent my pronunciation is OK; however, I cannot explain that lesson to my students. I need your help.
Your voice is so wonderful and peaceful I can listen all day long!!
That's very kind of you, thanks.
Your voice is really wonderful!
The same view point
English Pronunciation Roadmap I love your voice
Oh fuck, get a room; it's a British accent.
Your articulation is crystal clear, the rythm, timing and that our voice should be like a musical instrument is very insightful.
I'm so happy to be acquainted with a completely different flavour of speech

Omg, I looove how you speak! Your voice, volume, and tone are mesmerizing.

Again, according to what I was taught the only case when "wh" questions would have a rising pitch is when you ask for confirmation or if you are very surprised.
