Personally I'm very partial to volendrung, just because I used it as my main weapon the one time I did an orc playthrough, and wacking Nazeem with a hammer that big while you have berserker rage active feels so good. For you, probably not so good for Nazeem.
Fun fact: The glass weapons aren't made of actual glass, they're made of meteoric glass which is why the Ayleids used them a lot and they don't look like your standard window.

In my first game I found this cool hammer and its effect, I didn't use two handed weapons so I decided to disenchant it. Aaand 2 days later I found that the blacksmith at raven rock has that enchantment on some weapons

A lot of real medieval maces were at least a little spikey, rather than just blunt. A big heavy ball with spikes is quite effective at punching through armour, but there also were plenty of blunt ones for big concussive blows and putting huge dents in armour.
The spikes or phlanges were needed to bite into the armour so that the force and weight could actually be applied, without them the mace blows will glance off plate unless hit just right

Not including the rope bow in the Dark Messiah bit must have been a personal attack. Easily one of the most interesting tool in any video game. I definitely spent hours playing around with it
Volundrung will always be my favorite weapon from this game, I will always immediately get it at level 10 because the ability to do heavy attacks for free is broken once you get a high enough 2 handed skill also I love the design, the glowing red part and the look of the green enchantment just sells it to me
Funny thing about the Champion's Cudgel is that it is inspired after a legitimate historical weapon the "Pollaxe". And so are several of the Warhammers in the game. It's basically an Axe, Hammer, pike and spear all in one. You should search it in you RUclips you'll be amazed.

My favourite one is the steel mace because it's pretty and at the same time also looks functional. If only the head was just a *little bit* smaller for better weight and maneuverability.
Maces, much like their more aggressive morning star cousins, were designed to break and crush armor. They aren't clubs meant to _unga-bunga_ your enemies' skulls in, they're more sophisticated (if not brutal). All that to say, maces _should_ be sharp and have spikes.

Mary, Queen of Scotts used a croquet mallet carved from a petrified Narwhale horn. She never lost a match. Look up carved volcanic glass, the weapons will make a bit more sense.
As someone who has a decent wealth of knowledge about weapons I do believe you are referring to a proper Flanged Mace, ones specifically made to damage armor and severely damage the people who were not wealthy enough to be wearing plate mail. I have to agree they do look better.
I definitely agree with most of the ranking, especially the Deadric BA but imo I think the Deadric WA has one of the better esthetics and probably the best Deadric esthetic for me.
2:59 - So, here's a thing about the Dawnguard Rune Warhammer - it is probably the most interesting and powerful of all warhammers in the game. You can cast Fire Rune by bashing a surface, only using 50 stamina instead of 250-350 magicka, and it levels up your destruction skills very fast. Plus, it has a hidden synergy with Become Ethereal shout. If you're ethereal, as long as you don't bash someone, you can keep bashing/casting runes without loosing the ethereal effect, and blowing up your foes while they can't even hit you. Pretty broken, right? 😱🔥
I would like the war hammers and great axes a lot better if it didn't look like the character was about to collapse under the weight of holding them, at least in 3rd person view. I think they would look a whole lot better if held more like a great sword.
Wow, I just realized that nearly every mace in the game is basically a fancy looking axe, 95% of them are edged! I think it's gotta be the Dwarven Mace or Stalhrim Mace for me and nothing else.
So you say that you don't like a lot of the maces and hammers because they are spikey. But did you know that a real life mace used in history, the morning star, had a head that was just a ball of metal with spikes?
@@death-nm7hr a traditional medieval Mace was flanged, like a lot of the Mace's are in Skyrim, the Steel Mace in the Vanilla game is a great example. But the Morning Star was spiked. Someaces were also just a heavy and solid piece of metal, making it a cheap and easy to make alternative too.
You forgot the Ancient Nord stuff, but I guess that the mace looks like the Ebony one and the warhamer looks like the Champion's Cudgel, only differing in color.
I disagree on a couple of the lower ranked weapons but overall the list is pretty close to what I think. The one thing I definitely agree with is that without the magic bullsh#t most of the weapons in the video would be decorations not functional weapons the dragonbone warhammer would at least be effective at convincing people to stop laughing at you if it hit them can't say the same for the mace though
You know a spiky bits are better mace designs than smooth surfaces, because they bind in to armor, not to penetrate it, but to bind in to it and not clance off like smooth surface mace would do on a rounded surface of the armor, so instead most of the energy getting vasted by clancing blow, you get the most energy of your mace to the target because of those spiky bits.
I disagree about the "pointy bits" defeating the purpose. I agree some of these maces Look lack luster. But i have to chime in and say that in terms of usefulness in combat Maces, Warhammers and Axes are better than swords imo. Daedric still looks better than Dragonbone both in armor and weapons though.

I think the Windu Mace is the best. Although, It could result in your hand being cut off and getting yourself thrown into the air...
There is probably Windu Mace mod where you wield a laser mace!
To be fair most of the Mace's in this game are probably based off of morning Stars rather than flanged Mace's

The dragon bone war hammer is a big weapon for a big hero. It is second only to volendrung.
