      How far can you identify animals with those? Not looking to see how many points a bull has but just trying to see an elk. How far would you say these are good for?

    Optical quality comparison between the main IS units of Fuji, Canon, Kite, and these is hard to come by. As much as the IS defines this category, they're all good enough imo. The wildcard is optical quality. I can't accept less than stellar. Your comments on the improvement in optical quality with the HDX are encouraging.

    What power would you go with for western big game? 16 power or 20 power?

      How far you glassing?

    • @reload280
      @reload280 10 месяцев назад +2

      Anywhere from 100 yards to 5 miles. Presently I use a set of Swarovski 8x42 and then follow up with a 20x60 spotting scope to evaluate the animal. Many times I am looking a long ways out but it also can be hard to locate the animal with the spotting scope at times.

      @@reload280get the 16’s you still want FOV, will be easier to locate with the 16 that’s what I went with

    Don't' your arms get tired holding them up glassing? that's my biggest concern.

    • @GY6outdoors
      @GY6outdoors  10 месяцев назад +2

      You can easily strap them to a Bino harness strap that attaches to a tripod for that concern. I just rest my elbows on my knees, or on my backpack. Sometimes I will even lay prone.

    What would be the advantage of a 12 power? And do you think these would be good for Bow Hunting?

    • @GY6outdoors
      @GY6outdoors  Месяц назад

      Depends on the distance of the area you’re glassing.

    Under 800 yards for deer or elk what size would u chose?

    • @GY6outdoors
      @GY6outdoors  Месяц назад

      It’s all personal preferences. Less magnification gives you better field of view, but limits your ability to see details on a buck.

      By gen 3 you mean hdx pro?

    • @GY6outdoors
      @GY6outdoors  Месяц назад +1

      Only few things changed on the HDX pros compared to the HDX in this video. HDX pros now take AA batteries, 50mm objective, better light transmission(from what Sig says),and instead of target mode, it automatically senses when you slow your panning it increases the stability higher than when you’re moving faster glassing.
      Not sure if they are that much different IMO as far as stability though, target mode is ROCK SOLID on the standard HDX’s(or Gen 2 as you’re calling them).
      But damn good Binos no matter what “Gen” you choose.
