While I'm not too familiar with the show as a whole, this cover is absolutely astounding! I get the vibes that this would play at the end of everything, when all chaos has been contained and life can be peaceful again! The way you weaved all of these tracks together is awesome too! Ahhh thank you so much!! If you do check out the show, I hope you like it! There are spoilers everywhere, so be careful 😅. As for arranging an extended version of something - for this one, I actually got some inspiration for different versions of this theme that played during different parts of the show, so that made it a little bit "easier" because I had more to work with (though I did still change it up). But in other cases where I extend the piece more from scratch, the main things I focus on are this: 1. Do something slightly different with the accompaniment in each section. If it starts off as block chords, do some arpeggios the next section. Or try some inversions. I think varying the rhythms is what really helps here. 2. Slightly change how you play the melody line. For example, you can start off with just the melody on its own, and then the next section you can play the melody in octaves (or a different octave), and then the next section you can add in harmonies. It's all about adding some contrast while not going too off the rails. 3. Use dynamics/intensity as a tool! I usually start off with the "normal" version of a piece, then I do a sort of quieter/gentler "redux" in the middle, and then I try to build up to something more intense for an exciting ending. That's exactly how I structured this cover! 4. Transitions can really help. I did this here at 1:38 to build up the mood a bit by doing a few rounds of the main chord progression (and playing around with each chord in the right hand) before bringing the melody back. It also gave the piece a little room to breathe. In a way, it's sort of like improv. One thing that could help is starting off with just the melody in the right hand and the root note of each chord in the left hand. Then you can build up from there and see what you like! Whew, hopefully that wasn't too much to read!! Let me know if you have any questions. Best of luck practicing!
